Hmmm ... I'm amazed it took so long but after sitting on the garage floor for the past 2 years, the 2 way LSD was finally fitted today along with some braided brake hoses.

Many thanks to Brad Summerville from G&A Motor Repairs at 33 Spine Street, Jindalee who has worked on many AE86's in Brisbane including mine for over 3 years now and others such as Shane Bingham's old (Option 1) white 86.

If anyone in Brisbane ever gets a LSD and needs someone to fit it for then, give him a buzz on 3279 3601.

It's great to be able to break traction just by dumping the clutch now ... not to mention doughnuts at last! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

The breakin procedure got a bit monotomous after a while though of doing this - the KAAZ LSD break-in procedure:

Dunno who else has fitted a KAAZ LSD but these things are really tight - makes a little clunking noise only when turning but I think it'll get a bit softer as it wears in.

I am now ready for even more hairier experiences in the wet ... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/dry.gif

Cheers buds!

Didn't really do all 30 mins but I came close - about 20 mins and about 5 km's of figure 8's ...

Speedcore, should drop by sometime for a drive - Brad showed me what it could do and it is just amazing as you now lose traction just by dumping the clutch. I'll be needing new tyres soon.

Hoping that QR starts to organise those drift practice nites on Fridays now - I will be out there soon practising.

Funny thing is that whilst driving sedately, the car handles as before apart from the odd whine / clunk or two whilst turning with the throttle off. But I can tell it will handle differently now when pushed - I think I will be on a new learning curve from here onwards.

Yeah ... yellow KE20 is still there but may soon be sold to a mate. I can only really afford 2 cars on the road for now ...

I'll be carbing the 4AG pretty soon as well ...

It will be noisy mate.
When your going slowly and you bring the clutch out the wheels lock and it is almost like a locked diff. Its pretty weird at first

so does it have a more direct feel to the car or is just a slight feeling differance. also has it made turning (street) harder?

Actually, it drives as it did before but as Evan said, there is some additional noise from the diff when turning & lifting off. I won't say it sounds like a broken diff but there is a small whine as you hear it locking up.

Haven't pushed the car yet but I know it'd handle differently for sure - Brad from G&A certainly got it hanging out the rear end even more than usual and because it loses traction at both wheels now, the car's no longer dragging itself with 1 wheel.

I see now why it calls for more control because for someone like me who's experiencing a LSD for the first time, it's a whole new learning curve because the end is really breaking traction at both ends & not just one as before which is a bit more forgiving & predictable IMO.

... so true - I've put so much $$$ into this car that it'd be a real pity to have anything happen to it.

Rest assured, it'd come out to play as it meant to be on the track ... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

No hanging out the rear end unless there be no gutters. Plus, I can't wait for some points to come back - only have 3 or so left ATM ... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

Anyway, if anything happens to it, I'll probably just look for another shell ... I'll save $$$ the 2nd time round by spending less on bodywork and more on parts etc.
