Hey all got a bit of a problem with my engine. I assumed i had a problem with my ecu when i had to set the timing at 60-80btdc at idle to get the engine to run well. Also shorting the diagnostics plug had no effect. So i went to change the ecu yesterday tried a few different modle ones and one that was exacly the same as the one i was running, but they engine would not run with any other ecu except the one i had origonaly in there....?
We went through everything yesterday to try get the thing running but no luck. Would anyone have a clue why this would happen?

perhaps the new ecu's could not cope with the HUGE amount of ignition advance you gave it, did you try putting it back to about 10 degrees before trying to start it?

just a thought, do you have the right dizzy and coil igniter for that motor and ECU?

yep reset all the timing to standard tried new distributor, cap new dizzy all together, new coils, new igniters etc etc and no luck. We tried about 5-7 different computers some straight out of cars that were running perfect. We couldnt even get a cough out of any other ecu besides the one origonaly in there.

mine did the same thing about two weeks ago.

i used an ae82 computer. my 14 pin plug had to be rewired so the fuel pump would pump.

just a thought
