Where to look first?
Trying to work out if this engine is worth buying and how much it is worth.

Mates got a 4AGZE with the 1bar pully kit... some minor internal work and a chip (which is no use to me cause its for a FWD setup?) he said it was burning a bit of oil before he wrote his car off.

what could it be and how much would the engine be worth?

theres a set of pistons and rings on mods for 500... was thinking about it... then again ive also organised for a 2nd 4agze so i spose i could just put all the good bits on that instead... altho it had some internal work done with aftermarket pistons and rods http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif bugger.

once you start opening up the engine it starts to get pricey (gasket kits, labour...etc)
could also be valve stem seals, which is a bit cheaper to replace.

replacing rings is also not guaranteed to fix the problem. then you require a rebore and bigger pistons..etc

the ae92's 4AGZE we had had a leaking O ring on the distributor, which meant when the oil got pressurised it'd leak out thru the O ring onto the exhaust manifold. This gave a burning oil smell, maybe its a common fault on 4AGZE's?
