I like my toyotas toyotas, my nissans nissans and my holdens non existant http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Im not generally a fan of interbreeding. It kind of destroys the whole beautiful thing about the 86, which is balance.

Heres another question to throw in: What other cars do you have in your garage? That may get a few toyota fans out in the open hehe.
We currently have:
Moms honda CRV, dads 05 subaru wrx, and a work ute - nissan navara, and then theres my hachi.
A honda, a subaru, a nissan and a toyota.... Sounds good to me..

i dont think ill be making many friends when the 13btt convertion is done. If TRD wasent so espensive, if the 3sgte was light i would reconsidere. But later im thinking of building and N2 replica with a 2zz and bigger cams http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

um... no? seeing as I'm trying to put a crossmember and steering rack off an S13 into the ae86. Don't get me wrong, toyota make some great cars, but the nissan's powerplant and drivetrain costs the same for technology that's 10 to 15 years newer.

Relying on the balance of having a 4AGE is for people who have no concept of counterweight http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif 4AGZE's, 4AGTE's and 20V 4AGE's all should upset the balance in that case as its not what's factory fitted and tested to an AE86 base.

Contents of my garage: Nissan R32 Skyline, Nissan A31 Cefiro, Nissan CA86... oops... Toyota AE86 Corolla Sprinter http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

If it improves on the car, im all for interbreeding.... some people are adamant about keeping it the same.. especially rotor people, any other engines in them are total blasphemy!
i like the shape of rx7s but i wouldnt want a rotor... so id do the swap..

oh & the cars at our house consist of 2 x ae86s, an r31, an r33, an s13 and an rb25 180sx...

surfingisfun: no, drifting is not about frying the wheels, its about big angles at high speeds. A light car helps

what i find funny is people who say "only toyota stuff is good enuf for me" and then you look at the list of aftermarket parts on their cars, and not much TOMS or TRD stuff in there - and they are the only true toyota aftermarket companies.
like has been said, if it makes your car better and the price is right, why not?
just dont tell anyone it's an sr20det under your bonnet

toyota's are way inferior to the mighty nissan, I am going to sell my 86 for a IRS turboed, lsd'd s13. Toyota's are nice however after market parts for 86's are just through the roof when it comes to price and availability, i miss the luxuries of a modern type interior. So the switch will be easy, 86's are great but when there is a takumi tax on parts I will look to a nissan.

-bahaahha, who needs IRS, who needs a turbo when you have a 4age.

-And aftermarket parts are just has expensive on a nissan has they are on a toyota.

-On a stock s13, you end up spending the same has you would on a ae86.

-also insurance is cheaper on a sprinter.

-Sprinter in the ADM or JDM are expensive for one reason, and its not because of takumi.

-If you really miss the luxuries of a modern type interior, you dont deserve to owne one.

i agree with a lot of what u said i wouldnt go as far as saying that it is inferior though and as was said silvia parts arent always cheap but yes the modern interior is a nice touch but i think a lot of people arent looking for creature comforts they are just happy having the basics. each to their own

I have owned both cars and my sprinter is not your stock ADM model, check out the for sale section under 4agte Sprinter.

Yes a IRS car is a much nicer car and has a nicer feel than a solid rear end car. It feels alot easier to power through corners side wayz in a 180 than a sprinter.

My 180 had twice as many mods as the sprinter and as there is greater aftermarket support for the s13's, it was cheaper to find suspension parts, aftermarket bolt ons and so fourth.

Both of my cars are only 3rd party fire and theft insured

I know the sprinters have always held their value as there is such a cult following behind the car. However 6 years ago, sprinters were a dime a dozen and you were able to get good nick ADM models for cheap. It has only been just recently with the launch of Initial D to western markets and the craze of drifting that prices have started to creep, saying this all models which compete in D1 are getting more expensive.

Don't deserve to own one?, thats abit harsh mate. I for one have blood sweat and tears poured into my car. The car is still great however is still very inferior to the mighty s13/14/15. This is not coming from a biased opinion such as yourself in which you only have seen one side of the coin, I have owned the sprinter for awhile now and it has received a ground up rebuild with body/paint/panel and mechanically. So I do know there is abit more about the sprinter than most other people.
Reason I have given up on the sprinter is that, I only just realised that the car will never handle as good, never feel as comfortable, never drive as smoothly as my 180.

Whatever floats your boat I guess, there are the true die hard fans of the sprinters and many of them has just recently climbed on that rolling band wagon, and are still riding it home. I however have just had got off and have realised the pro's and cons of a 86.

^^^ what tipper86 said. I own an R32 skyline and a A31 ceffy, along with an AE86, and I sold my 180sx back in 2001.

I wouldn't own an AE86 as a daily driver, unless I was in highschool or first year of uni. It really is a car of the early 80's.

I don't think the AE86 handles as well as any of the other cars I own, however with a few basic suspension mods its controllable for track use.
