You may already know this, but CAMS is currently working with Drift Australia Pty Ltd to produce the rules and regulations for the next championship (2006) and these will probably apply to the sport as a whole.
But yes, it will be interesting to see what they come up with!

Hopefully it will encourage Japanese manufacturers to produce a new wave of race ready production cars.

It also gives the lesser known drivers the chance of competeing in a D1 event.

i likee.

I hope not... why would every comp want their rules?
wasnt that the whole point of the ADA?

DA rules and judging criteria include flair for gods sake... ie. smoke and presentation. GHEY

That's for a secondary league for production class drifting. The rules are to make sure your car's predominantly stock, they're still in discussion with manufacturers and sponsors though, the last time I checked.

I think this set of design rules is probably something that CAMS can also work with, as drifting as it is, is a public liability and driver safety nightmare.

it will be like being at school again...

"stop puting ur arm out the windows!!!"
"your uniform isnt regulation!!!"

yeah cams will ruin it i reckon
eveyones car will have to be like capa specs
without huge budgets alot of good drifters wont survive.

thats what drifting is all about, u dont have to have alot of money to do it.

I agree, CAMS *i was pwned by swearing filter* everything up, now I can no longer compete in motorkhanas because i have to have a third party extension to cover myself and i just don't have the time to dick around going in to arrange it all the time, the less CAMS is involved in drift the better..

I thought that was particularly nasty of CAMS to send out an official who obviously had never had any contact with a drift event before http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif poor guy http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

BTW Daniel AE86 you scared the crap out of me when I read the no swapping engines bit! I thought holy crap there goes any chances of any hachis competing!

i was talking to the secutary of the marque sports cars or some shit, he reckons that cams wont mess around with it to much, cams has already claaified it as a none speed event and apparently they cant change that ruling, being none speed means a hell of alot less restrictions, if anything fucks up drifting it will be DA to hell with them

*i'll pwned you up swearing filter*

shame that we dont have many tracks that are built for fast drifting, oran is one of them http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg , but I heard that they are building two new tracks (dont no where).

Black_Hachi
28th July 2005, 01:35 PM
yeah i wouldnt mind a really tech little drift track in S.E. QLD. I'm hitting a good 140 km/h into turn 2 @ QLD raceway (4th gear). not that fast corners arent fun, just get a bit boring.

yes... its CAMS' goal to make sure you're not happy in life. Most of the advisory body in CAMS are motorsports competitors, judges, officials, paramedics etc.
