Hey All,

kinda new to the site here and the whole 'hachi' scene  , fell in luv with after working on a mates sprinter (shane bingham's old white one).

so i thort geez i gotta get one of these. :D

ATM mine is still a work in progress, but I'm getting there and hopefully should be finished within a couple months.

SPECS

4A-GZE small port, 94' model

head
big port cams
higher strength valve springs
heat treated 3 cut aftermarket valves
ported and polished head (flows 237hp @ 300 thou)
5 thou shave
TRD 0.8mm head gasket

block
acid bathed
crack tested
honed
5 thou shave
cast 'dags' removed
poished walls (faster, cooler & cleaner oil return)

internals
TRD bearings thoughout
crank balanced, crack tested and linished
ZE rod's shot peened and balanced
ZE ART pistons, moly rings
ARP bolts through out

others
450x300x76mm FMIC
SC-14 supercharger
NEVO 175mm puley kit (1 bar of boost)
electric water pump
custom 2 core aluminium radiator

the car it self is just a 83' OZ spec model, was pretty shitty when i got it. (lol still is  ) body wise it aint going to be to flash as well! <_< cuz my main concern is getting weight out

body
flared front and rear guards
TRD lower front lip
CF bonnet
lightened doors (removed frame work, intrusion bar and window winder mechanism)
perspex windows and rear 1/4
custom PET-G mould of rear hatch
all sound deadner removed
MOMO race bucket seat
custom 6 point roll cage

for the time being the suspension has been my last concerned, but ive scored a full kit out of TEIN coil overs & various bits and pieces. i've designed up some custom lower front control arms with rose joints. and a similar adjustable rear end, including a much larger panhard rod.

ATM i'll have 2 very weak links in my car, the T50 gear box and locked S series diff. once either one breaks then i'll move to a W56 5 speed with a mechanical LSD centre T series.

the car is about 1/2 thru it's build but this next half should see lots of change very qwikly (waiting for panel beaters and spray painters  )

ummm i think thats it all!? hopefully u guys enjoy it

the pics uploaded are when the stock ZE was 1st put in, i only entred one event with it at QR and then decided a complete tear down was the key. i shall try and get more pics of bits and pieces but for now i only have a couple of the cage and the motor going together :(

cheers

hey all!

just a qwik couple updates for you all!

the motor is now complete, just needsto go back into the car, then new radiator will be made up, along with intercooler piping.

but b4 i can put that in there, ive gotta rub back the etched body and apply some coats of the new paint http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ph34r.gif

i shall also be fairly confident in owning one of the lightest hachi's in oz now, my doors have just been sent off to get a 6mm outta skin mould. i will have bother the original and fiberglass doors painted up, and both will have perspex windows, but the new ones should bring the car in at around 720kg!

production has sorta ceased on the car, but once ive moved into my place, things should fire back up...

not much to report tho http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

gonna be painted orange very shortly, and most likely ditching the 4A-GZE for either a 13b or 1U V8

MAT713
7th April 2008, 12:06 PM
yep, S13 coilovers front and rear.

made a new 'strut' for the rear shocks, so the standard item would just bolt straight in, then just spun up a spacer on the lathe to use the standrad rear mount on the diff

yeah bud, I'm at work atm, so no pics til tonight, but I can provide details on the rear coilovers.

the 1st reason question is, WHY?!

well when I ordered the S13 HSD coilovers, I had to get a whole set. So with a pair of rear coilovers laying around, why not put them to use.

We had looked at spinning up a new top to adapt them to fit straight into the existing shock mount, BUT 2 probs.

1) that shock mount, wasnt a very strong load bearing put if left standard
2) S13 strut is a tad longer

So instead of losing money selling a new strut cheap on the net, then forking out for new springs & shocks or a T3 coilover... If we were to go a T3 coilover we knew fabrication would be involved strengthening the tower.

So back to looking at what we already have, S13 coilover, we decided why not make the car as universal as possible, IE if a coilover broke or wanted a new coilover, instead of adapting coilovers to fit the car, just adapt the car once to always take S13 rear coilovers!

So out came the oxy, and we opened up around the existing shock mount.

we now used 5'' 3mm tube as the new 'strut' & just cut away any excess material in the wheel well & welded it in.

The next bit was a little bit of guesstimating, as we had to set the 'ride height' as such, so we took into account, new strut length, bump travel, roll centres etc to set our new ride height. With a 5mm plate tapped & drilled to suit the new coilovers, we were ready to go!

We then just spun up a small bush for the lower diff mount on the coilover to slip straight on!

MAT713

this is after cutting the hole, and dummy fitting the shock, 'aiming' for new ride height

now its all tacked in, at what we hope is right!

final result!

235/45/16 biggest tyre i'd prob run, just checking it fits!

like a glove! this was with the coilover wound with highest ride height and no weight on it, so yeah went well

... and thats S13 coilovers in a 86

using an E series diff I think it was, it came from a tarago.

chose this, cuz they are still fairly light, good size corwn & pinion + 25mm of track eash side is a handy bonus!

weak points or dissadvantage is no mechinical centres, so i had a full spool and biillet axles made up for it

just a wee bit of stuff concerning the brake booster and the turbo mani
well I did try mounting up the brake booster from the front cut as it was free and there. but it was just simply to big, so I managed to swap my Series6 booster for a R32 GTR and it bolted straight in. I will eventually go pedal box later on in the future. but for the mean time this seems to work fine.

I'm running just a std series 5 manifold for the mean time, not the most effective I know, but it fits and with my engine mounted where it is, clears steering column with plenty of room for the exhuast dump...

as i said, difficult to compare cuz they can be done so differently.

in the future id like to run a manifold that brings the turbo foward a little more and has better flow, but not just yet..
