just like any braces they do make a difference in the behaviour of the car in corners. you will notice the difference more in faster or longer corners i think. however, i believe each car will react differently to the addition of these braces. whether the driver notices or not will be different also.

Ken (ae86hachiroku) has these fitted to his car, he felt a huge difference. ask him if you really want a run down of the effect these braces have.

I had to do a forced modification today. while trying to fix a coolant leak in the pipes the metal top pipe on the radiator broke into pieces inducing many a profanity. luckily the pieces of metal did not float down with the coolant into the engine, so that was a bit of a save http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

now that i couldnt use my radiator i had a look around and found a radiator from a CA18DET. my brothers car is in the middle of a build up so his old radiator was sitting around doing nothing.

so now i have a bigger radiator.....i suppose its worth it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

you can get tinting spray from places like repco, supercheap, etc. i got mine from auto 1. dunno if you have that over east. its made for spraying on lights http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif its another one of those "for offroad use only" things. just dont do it too dark http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

i only painted the cam covers so i just took them off, not the head. really simple job which makes a big difference i think http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

only first coat so its not very shiny but it doesnt really matter anyway as ill be hitting the track again soon.

looks like simon's old old 86 at the moment....same colour/finish

ive taken some progress pics but a black car at night is kinda hard to see http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif and yes its not finished so there is still some primer showing under the rear bumper and in the hatch/doors so gimme a break http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

so a home pant job? not a spary can job im guessing?

yeh it was a home job. but with a compressor and spray gun

dori_86
27th March 2006, 01:10 AM
how much in total did it cost ya? and have u done it b4, or just practised on som spare metal or not at all http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

driftae86
27th March 2006, 01:15 AM
umm less than $200 at a guess. black paint is cheap. white is cheaper. but yeah the cost that will kill you with a homejob is the cost of the paint itself.

i was quoted $200+ for 4 litres of silver....hence the black http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

ive sort of done it before. i leant how to do it while painting my bonnet. but its pretty easy.

dori_86
27th March 2006, 01:18 AM
so how many litres 10L max?

driftae86
27th March 2006, 01:21 AM
4 litres should do the trick. remember you have to primer it first too. about 6 decent sized spray cans should cover that department http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

engine looks ok, find out when it gets put into the next car.

chassis might be able to get fixed but not for a long time. it may come back in the future...not sure yet.

yes but the only thing that was damaged was the passenger side headlight.

the foglights, parkers and driver's side headlight survived.

i didnt have the letterbox grille on at the time either
