How much would it cost to get a 4AC converted to 4AGE, 20v, 4AGZE by someone who knows what theyre doing, not including the cost of the engine?

Wow! thats cheap. I thought itd be more like $1000-1500. An im talking about just putting an engine in with the 4AC removed.
Can you just use a 4AGE from an AE92 with all the wiring and stuff? Cause that would be a cheap option.

Mine was already converted to rwd so all i had to do was lift it out of Ae71 i bought. The cost of that car was $600 and the other money was for a new fuel pump and some bits and peices.

By someone who knows what theyre doing I mean paying a mechanic to do it, and by cost I mean how much they would charge plus any bits id need to buy for it.
If I got a 4AGE from a AE92 it would come with all that stuff tho id asume.
I was also thinking that I could easily put the 4AG in but Id need somone to wire it up for me. Thatd knock a few $100 off the price eh?

I investegated this a fair bit myself and found that to have a good mech do all the work you would be looking at around the $4000 mark they look at doing pretty much everything from fuel tank and lines right through to install tune up. SO its drive it there and pick it up and drive it home with your new power unit, plus there is the benifit off a warranty on the work carried out alot of the cost is labour but they will take no short cuts and the end result will run as good as possible

But its like most things you get what you pay for but being well researched will save you alot of $$$ and heart brake BEST OF LUCK http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

yup for a workshop to do a drive in drive out 16v 4AGE in an AE86 its like $3500-$4000, for a 20v, $4500-$5500, ive rang around Melb the past few weeks to get an idea, as above though this is drive in drive out they do and supply EVERYTHING! too pricey for me, im gonna either do it all myself or with the help of a friend(mechanic) should only cost a fraction of that if you do most of the work and research yourself

if ur starting with a ae92 motor
be prepared to pay for to convert stuff to rwd (which adds a bit to the cost)
food for thought

also there is absolutely no need to take it to a wrokshop when it can be done by someone which doesnt have to pay workers/rent...etc

All I want converted is the engine, I dont need stuff like the fuel tank and stuff done do I? I was thinking I could take out the 4AC and put in the 4AG myself and let them work from there to cut down on labour costs.
Theres no way I could afford a $4000 conversion, Id rather go an buy a $6000 86 with everything done to it.
If theres anyone out there that could do the conversion for me for cheaper or help me do it myself itd be great to hear from you.

Hahaha, yeah.

I kept every reciept from my conversion, but haven't yet added up the entire cost yet.

I'm a bit too scared to see how much it's cost me thus far, I think I over spent http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

For my engine conversion, a lot money goes to the parts like a full exhaust, coilpacks, coilleads, sparkplugs, water pipings, plugs, battery, engine/box oil, new belts, RWD exhaust/intake manifold, airfilters, clutch, clutch line, fuel pump/relay/filter/line, brackets, etc... 2 grand + gone already... the engine itself doesn't cost a lot compare to these the tiny little random shits.. also, in my case, a microtech+ignitor and a tune too... another 1.5 grand here, plus the engine, plus the labour to the mechanic and the electrician= SAD...

Yeah, lots of money went to the fiddly bits.

But then again I managed to find good running parts like a second hand full exhaust for $150, and resusing my old 4-AC clutch (for now) and battery to help keep cost down and car up and running.

So now I have to replace my spark plugs soon and aswell as my oils soon.

But most of my cost came down to labour for the conversion and the wiring.

Overall I thing the cost is justified in the end.

Hell beats driving around with a 4-AC http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I think ive been talked out of the conversion unless I win lotto or somthing http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg , I dont have much spare cash at the moment and it seems like itd be better to just get a converted 86. Thanks for your help people.

I was looking at this post and thought it looks like just about everything Id ned to do the conversion http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=m...c598721f17492d1 (http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=msg&th=78571&start=0&rid=11959&S=d71758c97139a2d3bc598721f17492d1)
then the only hard bit would be the wiring, which I could pay somone else to do.
eh?
