got this Email today...

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN AUSTRALIA
>DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF PETROL FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT
>THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR
>STOCKPILES.
>
>AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET
>LOSS OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE
OIL COMPANIES.
>
>THEREFORE THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 22nd HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT
UP THEIR BEHIND" DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A
SINGLE DROP OF PETROL THAT DAY.
>
>THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL
>TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD
OUT.
>
>WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES
>IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN
PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?
>
>REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF PETROL GOING
>UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES,
>TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS
PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING,
BUILDING SUPPLIES MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
>
>WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE
>AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
>
>SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO
>EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 22nd A DAY
THAT THE CITIZENS OF AUSTRALIA "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

This WILL NOT make a difference. not buying fuel for one day will not effect the income of the fuel companies as you are still using fuel, so if no-one buys on this day, then they will have DOUBLE sales the following day when all those people who didnt buy need to buy on top of the regular days sales.

The only way to have an effect is not only not buy in this day, but also to NOT USE ANY FUEL on this day. and preferably not use any fuel for the rest of the week, then we might see some sort of effect.

if you are still consuming a product, there is still a demand. to not satisfy that demand will only raise the demand, and therefore may have the opposite effect you desire.

After thinking about it, I dont think it will work @ all, the no fuel day will only affect petrol stations, really it means that they will have a few hundered litres of fuel extra for that day..

But never the less im not buying fuel this day, but really fuels a have to get product, it gets us to work, gets us to mates places, the shops, drift meets, we have to buy fuel if we like it or not.

Its really taking a toll on guys that have turbo'd cars, but also people with v6's and v8's, but IMO really there are things we can do to save fuel money, like dont use your AC, ease off the 'go' pedal, travel when you really need to, or catch a bus or sumthing.

But it comes down to we have to buy fuel if we like it or not.
