So how many of you guys still have them on? I'm thinking very few of you.

My hachi is just lowered on springs atm and when I put the suspension in I didn't bother putting the liners back in... I put them on couple days ago and I'm scrubbing them even around minor corners which shits me to tears.

Concerns I have not running them is the obvious accumulation of shit and such that is a pain in the ass to get out later and the associated potential for rust at the bottoms of the guards.

Thoughts?

lol considering the sh!te that came out of my guards after I took out my liners (on both cars) I'm not too worried about not having them off...

one of the first things you should do when you buy a sprinter is to remove the plastic guards and get to work at the accumulated leaves and mud between the front guard. I recomend a high pressure hose http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

I have kept mine in, it took about a month to scrub them to a point where it takes alot for them to scrub,
all depends how low your car is, tire size and offset of wheels i guess

Cheers

ive got one car with & the other without

the car with them only scrubbed if i was making a tight turn...took about 2-3 months to wear them to the point where it wasnt noisy anymore. If the noise doesnt send you crazy keep them otherwise turff em http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

after 3days of mine scrubbing going around round-a-bouts! it wore to a point where it made no noise anymore http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

True though a must to clean the shit out behind them, so many leaves! and mud!

Right after i pulled mine out i put a few extra layers of paint over what is already under the guard, in fear of rusting. Just my 2c. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Yeah, all that flying dirt n rocks will chip away at your paintwork, and remember the front of the door seals will also cop an almost direct hit of water, so you better hope they seal properly.

There should be 2x 10mm bolts under the bottom of the guards. If they're not rusted in (usually the case) undo them & wash out the guard bottoms. Grab some "cold gal" paint & brush it on the inside of the guards (be careful not to spill any on the paint). This will protect them well. If you're really keen pull the guards right off, paint the whole inside with cold gal then underbody spray (mask up the outside though).

hmm never thought of leaving them off........... f*** there was a lot of caked up shit in the rear gaurds though when I cleaned them out.......... Thats what happens when your ride used to reside on a farm with a 10 km dirt road and river crossing to your house......... and guess where the most rust is...... all around the rear..... who would have thought....

My front liners scrub a little sometimes, but Im leaving them on.. not sure what I will do with the rears.... after I get all the rust fixed and a respray I will decide....
