This is actualy a fairly big topic, and I will add more stuff and advice on how to deal with Spare Parts guys at your local (un)friendly Toyota dealership. For now, I will list common parts you may want to buy which are probably avaliable, and less common parts for GT spec. Others can add what price they paid and who they talked to, so others can know what to expect. But if you are armed with a ID plate, a Toyota parts man should be able to get almost anything. Many parts are different between early model and late model, and the date change is 8505 (May 1985). But many other mechanical parts have been changed at different dates.

Price:
I have put up the suggested list price, which maybe out of date by a few months or years.

JDM parts, most not in Europe or America:
####-#### Apex/Levin/Trueno rear stickers. Lots of colors, combos etc...
81210-12030 fog lamp, RH late model levin apex
81220-12020 fog lamp, LH late model levin apex
81550-1A230 RH tail light, early levin 3D (lotus)
81550-1A231 RH tail light, late levin 3D (whiteline)
81611-12290 RH park light, late levin

81550-1A291 RH tail light, late trueno 3D (redline)
81560-1A291 LH tail light, late trueno 3D (redline)
75803-12070 centre moulding, late trueno 3D (redline)
81270-12320 lamp assy, licence plate. all JDM except late 2D

... I can't be bothered posting up all body parts right now.

The bushes are mostly the same for any AE86 and KE70. Your local dealer can look them up easily. But not sure how easy they are to get. I got the numbers for you anyway. Personaly I have used polyurathane, Nolathane or SuperPro. Depends what feel your after. Note that you can get TRD bushes also, which are also black rubber. Maybe they are stiffer (not as stiff as polyurathane), or maybe they just cost more?

AE86 Fuel Pump

23220-19015

23220-16084

All these numbers are for AE86 in-tank fuel pump. (Pump only, no bracket) Either Denso or Aisan, and seam to have been updated every year. But use the same bracket.

The exact same pump is also for:
RT142 Corona (22R-E)
AE82 Corola (4A-GE)
AW11 MR2
MA61 Supra
RA65 Celica
ST16# Celica (3S-GE)
SV11 Camry
SV21 Camry
GX71/MX7# Cressida
MS123 Crown
YR20/22 Tarago
FJ62 Landcriuser (3FE)
4-Runner (with 22RE or 3VZE)

23249-43080 This pump is listed for AE86, but is also listed for:
AW11 MR2 (4A-GZE)

27060-16090
27060-16011
27060-16012
27060-16091

Any one of these numbers will be a alternator for a RWD 4A-GEU. I know a dirrect swap is the alternator from a 20 valve, except the electrical plug is probably different. Oval instead of round.

I have one in my garage. Zenki and kouki are slightly different (kouki has high pressure switch on compressor).

Zenki 4age compressor is same as 4ac, just has multi-rib pulley. Will get the denso number off it for you.

Just adding, there might be more parts on ToyoDIY (http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/q_G_1984_TOYOTA_COROLLA_AE86.html). I've linked directly to 1984 AE86, but you can search other years if you want. Can even go area specific.

All the parts you buy from a dealership are less than a year old, probably less than 3 months old. (just my guess). A few clues:
Original Toyota parts from a few years ago where more likely to have a gold finish on the bolts (nickel or zink I'm not sure). More recently made parts are more likely to have a silver finish on the bolts.
A rubber band will be around most new parts. The rubber band itself only lasts a few months, because it gets hard, cracks, and falls off. The parts I get have a newish rubber band.
Toyota are famous for creating the "just in time" philosophy in the 70's, which most manufactures copy now. Meaning, they keep minium stock and only make what they have to.
Dealerships themselfs chuck out all parts that have been on the shelf for 6 months, they are ment to go to supervised land fill. I gather larger Toyota warehouses do that same.

The mind boggles at the forever increasing number of dies and templates they must have to make stuff.

Can anyone tell me if 13050-16020 is the part number for a s/t 20v vvt inlet cam gear and a rough landed ozzie price.

Or an alternative to shutting my vvt up. It rattles like hell.

can any one tell me or link me to toyota part information for late model/kouki trueno parts.

theres a decent list here http://www.dorikaze.ca/dorikaze_guides_detail.php?a_id=10 . I reckon if you tell a dealer what part you need they would be able to find the part number anyway

pop up eye lids.. late model smoke type.

what are these eye lids? what do they look like, anyone have a pic?

90311-25003 front gearbox seal (Also from Repco etc)
use silicon or paper for gasket
90311-40015 intake cam seal, 20valve
90311-35022 exhaust cam seal, 20valve or 16 valve

Thanks again, Johnny Rochester.

I have a query for you, since you have a fair good insight into how Toyota does/has done things in the past.

I was asked for a vin from a 1983 JDM ae86 to help locate parts. I gave the guy the frame number off the compliance plate and it was 11 or 12 digits from memory. They said its not a vin, a vin is 17 digits.

My question is, were Toyotas fitted with 17 digit vin numbers back in 1983?

Ive looked over my adm chassis here, all three and they dont even come close to having a vin thats 17 digits, either on the body or any of the plates.

Can you clarify?

The VIN (vehicle identification number) is a 17 digit number, which was ment to be a international system setup by ISO in 1980 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number).

However it has been adopted on a country by country basis. USA started using this system in about 1981. Australia started using this system in about 1986. Japan still to this day (as far as I know) does not use the VIN system for vehicles sold within Japan.

All AE86s sold new in Japan or Australia did not have a VIN. They have a Model number and a Frame number as all Toyotas (sold in Japan) still do, in this format:
Model: AE86-ECMQF
Frame: AE86-5017309
The month of manufacture is found when you put the Frame number into the EPC.

From this model and frame number, every part for your vehicle can be looked up with the exception of colour and other minor choices. With your colour and trim numbers, and knowledge of basic options (LSD, A/C, Powersteer) you can look up every part of the car. But for a lot of trim parts they will only be available in black or bare plastic anyway.

To my understanding, all vehicles manufactured, imported, imported as used into Australia from 1986 onwards need a VIN.
Vehicles made by Toyota Japan and imported as a new car (by Toyota Australia) will have the first two letters JT in the VIN.
Vehicles made in Australia have the first letter 6 in the VIN.
Vehicles made by Toyota Australia have the first two letters 6T in the VIN. Second hand vehicles imported into Australia and complied get issued a new VIN with 6 as the first letter.

So for example, your "JDM" AE86 was complied and issued with the new
VIN: 6USRUFAE865017309
It means nothing to Toyota at all. It is used for registralian only.

For getting parts you NEED:
Model: AE86-ECMQF
Frame: AE86-5017309

You also need a parts boy at the dealership that has worked there for more than 2 years.

CHeck toyodiy.com that should pretty much tell you and might even list a price if some of the gear is still available. Would love brand new dash surrounds and switches etc..

From what toyodiy.com told me the part number and price for the a/c surround is 55412-12330 $103.23, not sure on colouration, but I looked up the Japanese model, Australian models didn't have a price listing anymore.

I need some help. My local dealer Co-Op Motors had too much trouble with these parts. I ordered the rear Corolla Levin boot sticker, gave them the numbers and everything, and they somehow got me a AE92 one. I may use it, or pass it on if someone wants.

If you work at Toyota somewhere and can look this stuff up, I will order it:

75443-12540-03 Plate, rear name “GTVtwincam16”
75443-12541-01 GTVtwincam16 (late model, if early not available)
75443-1A370-03 Apex twincam 16 sticker, (if can't get GTV)
75442-12780-03 Plate, rear name “Corolla LEVIN”
75441-12311-01 Corolla LEVIN (late model, if early not available)
75651-12330-03 Moulding, quarter. RH "Levin" (Not so fussed about this)
75652-12330-03 Moulding, quarter, LH "Levin"

The part number has changed to 11011-15020. They are the same for ALL A-series engines. I priced these up during my rebuild and they are $68.56 (inc gst) and would have to come from over east (but ok for you cause you're probably not in WA).

When i bought zenki parkers from toyota, the price difference was amazing for the assembly and lense only. Assembly has the looms (and maybe screws too), but the price was $104 vs $250 a corner. Expect similar with kouki, although if using adm looms you need to modify the park light bulb holder to a tail light type (twin filament).
