hi I think we are ready for a new drift magazine .Drift Battle is a good mag but I feel its Lackin Somethink... I cant really discribe it like it doesnt feel friendly in a sense (good that might sound dumb)...hmmmmm english isnt good Sorry.................................

Start Over
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel that its time for a new magazine for the drift/Car/Culture Something like a Aussie Version of Drift Tengoku.

I think its too early for that.

My problem with this drift mag is that its always out of date, its something like a month and a week being.

I enjoyed the last one that came with the dvd, however the content on the mag itself was too little. Ok, they had a smal review on initial d, some purple laurel review, japan and americans drifting scene, but for me its not enough for $9.
I have been buying drift battle since it came out and now its $9 with an old issue, but I already have that issue and prefer paying the old price.

The biggest issues were first and second.

If this continues I won't be a loyal reader for long.

I think they need a technical section, how to make a turbo spool quicker, whats best for response, what type of diffs should be used, etc. Also peoples opinions on how to drift their type of car and track layouts.

yeah we need a drift mag for all the fanboys with manga on every second page, and tutorials on how to drift a kombi http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif j/k

errr no... how about more time, money and effort used to make sure the mags have something decent to write about when it comes to Aussie drifting, which is still in its infancy.

The only thing I read DB is to stay updated on what's happening in the world of drift in Australia (which i can do at the newsstand).

its quite easy to drift a kombi all you need is when you are about to hit the corner jerk the steering wheel while another cars hits you in the side to initiate the drift simple lol

Manga would be a good idea, also an in-depth view of Ueo's car. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

Also I would like to no why I can't initiat a braking drift on my stock ae86 , it understeers so I have to give it gas after brake-heel-toe-2ndgear to get the tail out http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif Is the lsd stuffed?

I can see it now...

"How to negociate on a good price on your future AE86 with the elderly/senile in 10 easy steps"

followed by a 2 page expose on "Iketani and Kenji... did they really get married in Hawaii?"

followed by a DIY on how to change your AUDM AE86's diff using a toothbrush, a paperclip and some bubblegum

then a centerfold of Natsuki

and then enough softcore pr0n of Japanese girls to keep the fanboys isolated away in their toilets for hours on end.

Oh and it all has to read right to left, just to be JDM tyte.

By the way funky, is it legal if a car that you imported and I drove that car to sydney, are there like special licences of transport?

eastcoastdrifter
14th October 2005, 01:26 PM
imported from where?

funkymonkey
14th October 2005, 01:38 PM
you can get temp permits in all states allowing you anything from 24 hours to a months worth of travel (usually between 7am and 7pm) depending on how much you pay.

If you're in sydney we can just have the car delivered to you in syd for free from the port where the ship docks, as its part of the shipping service.

eastcoast, imported from Japan, I work for J-Spec, we import cars from japan, europe and america, mostly japan though. And yes, we import AE86's.

I rekon they need more stories of people an how they got into drifting and how they afford it on their maccas job, their accidents, cars etc. Manga would be cool to.

Also I would like to no why I can't initiat a braking drift on my stock ae86 , it understeers so I have to give it gas after brake-heel-toe-2ndgear to get the tail outÂÂÂ# Is the lsd stuffed?[/b]
I went out last night in the wet to try an slide with my 4AC power and I just kept getting understeer. the only way I could get oversteer without the brake/handbrake was drive how I drive normaly when im going fast but give it gas just after the apex. That was in the wet with a 4AC tho but it should be the same principal in the dry, just harder.
And an LSD doesnt make it easier to get the rear out, just to control it once it does.

This was in the dry my friend, in the wet its easy -gas on, gas off-turn left, turn right-gas on. But with these crap 4ac's makes life hard.

I don't mind Drift Battle. Much better mag the Rice 4'S (Hot 4's). It's basically the same as HPI (made by the same people anyway).

yeah what he said.

there's hardly much going on in drifting compared to off road drags and circuit events in Aus, so there's really no point having multiple mags covering the same thing.

lack of suspension makes hard for weight transfur, as it's all going into the shocks, being soft, more roll, less turn, come on steve, think about it

I would have thought dedicated model only mags would be redundant now in the age of forums...

I mean, if you buy a mag about AE86's you'll get one monkey's half researched opinion on something that may not necessarily apply to you. If you jump on a forum you get 505 other monkeys' opinion, equally as half researched and equally as unrelated, for a whole 8 bucks cheaper (free).

some cars have there own mag and it takes years to pile everything into one, i like reading the VW mag, good ideas from some of those guys, but thats a UK based mag with cars from all over the world

well I guess with all the BBS's and car mags in Japan, the Trueno & Levin series mag is still goin strong... costs a bit much compared to something like Option or Carboy though.

The AE86 being a global car might be viable, esp as it has cult status in a few countries (Rally heritage in Europe, Drift/Circuit in Japan, Rally/Circuit in Oz/NZ and recently Drift globally etc). Tying all the input from all the countries however might be a bit of a task. Club4AG is probably the closest thing to it.

For a free DVD what else would you expect, who cares about the menus in stuff when all u want to see is the footage anyway

I think Eastcoast is talking about the Drift Battle DVD, not the Free DVD with the last issue.

I agree, I would have liked a menu, but i still like the DVD.

Actually, you find more roll equals more weight transfer, making it less predictable, cos the bugger turns in, then the body follows slightly afterwards, making for an awkward slide
While it is harder with stock suspension, it's still possible http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
Enough hijacking now..
