Maybe car's in the museum of national motor racing, that's where some of the old racing greats rest.

A few guys raced sprinters back in the day, Bob Holden for example. Think it was called Class AC or something. I remember back then Toyota had a factory team on Mt Panorama (driven by Smith), although the year I'm thinking of none of the Sprinters finished due to mechanical reasons. Later on at one stage Price was racing in a cosworth and Smith drove a supra I think.

I think it was 1984, or 85 when srinters came 7th and 10th in what was then the Aust Touring Car C.ship. Before it became a two make race http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/dry.gif

The photos are taken from the National racing musum in Bathurst, they have 2 Hachis, ones jsut a shell in the front window, the other is the full deal (but damn wouldn't fit into my backpack)

I thought that the Hachis won like 6 out of 8 starts and set time record for the mount in their class? I also heard there in the Guiness book of records?

Some one confirm?

If they're posted on the internet you pretty much have to expect them to do the rounds.

sic86

150kw and that would probably be n/a. Pretty good. Never knew there was a ae86 car actually that raced in australia back than.

ae86's have been in australia's track and rally history from 1983 to around 1986 when they were phased out by the celica. Life existed before takumi was born http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

So who knows anything about the Aus delivered twin cam sprinters...?
I know of two

crazy86
17th October 2005, 11:19 PM
Didn't know they existed. Tell me more http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

mikes86
17th October 2005, 11:38 PM
When the first sprinters were released toyota also released a few twincam sprinters something about the bathurst rules saying that they had to have the same car avalible to the aus public. Which were just the jdm ones but kept under then name of sprinter instead of having to re release a new name. I know of two, one of them being my own and the second is at the ithica (or how ever you spell it) tafe, the one that the tafe is a coupe and was meant to be used for rally. Not to many were sold because price was a fair bit higher.

I may be wrong but I heard that the australian delivered twincams where two tone also... are you able to confirm or deny this rumour?

crazy86
18th October 2005, 12:05 AM
Cool, do you know if the chassis numbers for the twin cam ones are consecutive? IE all numbers between 86XXXXXXX and 86XXXXXXYYY were twin cams. It would be nice to be able to verify between a proper ADM twincam and a well done ADM with JDM 86 conversion.

no idea all i know is of the usual jdm features that stick out, ie rear lights, number plate lights, rear bars, charcol canisters, light relay brackets, washer botles and so on.
I would love to hear anyother further info from anyone that truly knows all the facts.

vin plates are the same as the aus one. They didn't release it as a levin because they couldn't be farked re releasing a new name.

funkymonkey
19th October 2005, 03:22 AM
I figured as much, but on my car I've got a japanese manufacturer plate and a Australian plate.

The reason I asked for pics of the plate is because I want to see when it was brought into Australia, under what import scheme, where it was manufactured and the options it got.

The chassis code is on the 4age.net page, in the hachi register. Its number 001 used to be owned by the owner of the twincam forums Shane Moore http://www.4age.net/register/index.htm
I will get a pic of the vin plate for ya mate this weekend.

i payed 6g when i bought it. I cant get those pics 1st because camera has gone and 2nd plate has been taken off the car before i bought it. The guy must of kept the plate....
Doesnt sound like there is any others out there, maybe it was just a very early import that doesnt have import plates either.

ive seen mikes car, and know the bloke who owned it before him. it seems genuine, or otherwise a very involved conversion. its been raped of some of its jdm parts, but the for it to have a rear JDM body loom, you would have to think it came like that.

anyone else got that 'classic bathurst crashes" video?

i remember an ae86 doing kartwheels up the end of mountain straight then landing in someones drive way...

must see if ive still got that video, it was made before they change group a to v8 supercrap.

ps, 83 sprinters were $11,700, 84 were $13,200, 85 were $14,700 give or take...ha
