going from a 4AGTE to GZE?
Man... You've got lots of time and money on your hands
I'd kill for a 4AGTE setup. But I'm flat broke.
I'm having enough trouble finding a cheap 4age to replace my rotten 4ac

Nice look though.
Dig the black rims

from what he has said it sounds like its a 4age with a turbo strapped to it? (running low boost because of the high compression i assume)

feel free to correct me

4agtezza
8th November 2005, 04:11 PM
hey guys yeah hes correct its just a normal 4age with a snail hanging off the side running low boost, i cant take the credit for this car this is just how i bought it but i do have plans for it like chucking in a 4agze for more KW coz right now its only pumping out 103kw on 8psi
Cheers
ps.ill get more pics soon

Bustin_86
8th November 2005, 04:19 PM
103 kW?

you can acheive that fairly easily with a N/A engine...makes you wonder why they bothered with a turbo.

Get a 4agze bro, and crank the boost up, much-o powah!:P

good luck dude...

Doing research into it myself, I believe going from a 4age to a 4agze just because you want to turbo it is a silly idea. Going off block comparisons a small port and late big port 4age's (early big port not that far off either) are just as strong as a 4agze the late big port is a 7 rib and the small port reinforced, the heads are just as good and minor headwork would be needed (i.e. valve seats, port & polish or smoothen, tidy inlet chambers) apart from that all you need are the con-rods and pistons off a 4agze and you have an engine that is ready to be converted with the necessary parts for a turbo.

How much boost can it hold safely though!? You ask…Well from discussing this with people who have done the above; 20psi is the threshold for stable and safe boost. And if you think this is not enough think again 14-15psi will have you around 150rwkw about 200kw at the fly, do your math and that's a 4.5 power to weight ratio. To emphasise this even more both BMW's new M5 (5Litre V10) and the Mercedes CL65 AMG (12Litre V12 Twin turbo have a 4.7 power to weight ratio. Now this doesn't mean you would defiantly beat these cars since there are a whole lot of other variables involved, but it does go to prove a point. Being able to modify your current 4age and run 15psi safely and output 200kw from the flywheel in a 900kg car for half the price and hassles of a 4agze turbo conversion is a much smarter option.

Feel free to comment...

8th November 2005, 04:43 PM
sounds good, thats my comment http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

im stayin N/A....much prefer it in sprinters, personally. I knew that you could drop the compression with relative ease in the stock 4age's....but many people go with the 4agze (i think) as it is a tad simpler (if you dont feel cinfident taking an engine apart) and i beleive they also come with some with some extra little goodies, like oil squirters and a knock sensor?i might be wrong bro...but this was just my impression. Good luck with all hey, hope you acheive what you want http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

And theres no reason why an AE-86 cant beat euro stuff...i know thats one goal i aim for, maybe not the huge dollar stuff, but i wanna hold my own. One day.....http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Don-AE86

True, oil squiters and knock sensors did come on the later model 4agze's, however they also came on the small ports as well. So the best 4age base for a 4agte conversion would be the small port 4age.

Aproximate prices:

If you can do the work yourself and already have a 4age then you would be looking around $1,000 - $1,600 depending on how well you can source parts

If you have a mate that knows how to do it then i would say a good "backyard" job (btw backyard jobs are right up there imo) looking at around $2,000- $2,200 or less depending how nice your mate is http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

If you are unlucky enough to not know anyone (most unlikely) and can't do it yourself therefore needing it to be done in a workshop looking at around $3,000 - $4,000 depending where you go and how much of a lolly pop you look to the mechanic http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

Add about 1k more to each one when dealing with a gze unless you already have one http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ph34r.gif

ok.
well i own that car before james.

It was pretty stock when i sold it.

apart from the no rust body and the tiger gold paint job. the car is not that speacial.

I handle great for a stock car. maybe because it was under power.

that is one speacial car. I some time wish that is still have it.
It would have a 20v in it now if i still had the car.

anyway. i would love to see that car agian some.

I'm going to be at the Fatz drift 7 @ oran park.

any change you can bring that car along with you?
