hey there guys...just though i would post my car up here, even though she is no where near as good as most of the rides on these pages lol. So far ive only done the rims and a short shift kit, but i have some new springs coming (4.6 and 4.3 kg/mm) and also a set of rear KYB short stroke shocks. I've also got a nardi sitting aroung which will go in when i can grab a bosskit lol! My next mod is Rust removal (not much....ust want to get it done right) then i will start saving for a respray in black (current paint is flaked and ha developed chronic crows feet) I also resprayed my bumpers myself...and yeh, im just realy looking forward to engine, LSD and better suspension lol!

Next year im going to do the 4age engine conversion, and have decided on getting the RWD 4age 16v engine, which i will be converting to twin carby. 4agc ppoowwaahhh baby! so anyway sorry about the novel...heres a few pics, please feel free to leave some coments!

BTW the ke70 in the back ground is my mates...absolutely awesome car, and he knows how to drive as well, bloody pro he is.

thanks for the nice words guys....i really appreciate it lol....sometimes building a hachi is so damn hard, especially when your a lot younger than most owners lol.....you can cop a fair bit of prejudice hey.

cant wait for the carby setup, a lot of people reckon its shit and i should just go with EFI, but i beleive that the carbys willl provide me ith the better bang for my buck, tuning and performance wise. Since i want a tuneable car, if i was to go EFI, i would require an aftermarket ECU in order to tune it to my needs. And its different http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif as you said mate...its "killin it" old skool, and sprinters are all about killin it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

BTW...i doubt that would be my mate in Mt. Cotton. Were a fair haul away from there lol....but good luck and respect to any KE70 driver!

good luck with the small challenge you have set yourself. i mean hey, how boring would life be without a hobby!

stick to your roots and 'keep it real', old school.

oh BTW sorry to hijack your post with large pictures of a ke70 drifting madly.
what was i thinking!!!

peace out dude http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Just ordered new brake pads yesterday (AJPS ruullleeessss!) and it looks like swaybars arent far away now http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif like....one more pay day away http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

I want to have a somewhat decent suspension and braking package all setup before i put in the engine, so that i can have the handling and braking to back up the extra ppoowwaahh http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif but yeh, 4age isnt far away either. Shit is starting to happen http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Update time!

haven't looked at this thread for ages... cant believe how far my plans went to the shit lol!

Well as you know i was pretty keen on getting the rust fixed...so i sent her off to a mates dad who fixed my rear quarter. Unfortunately, once he started to get the paint off he found that it had been fixed before and badly so. So he cut out all the rust in the rear quarter, welded and bogged it then sent me back the finished product.

My mate and i talked about it for a while, and going from the dodgy fixing job that had been discovered we decided that we should take her off the road and strip the car back to bare metal in order to find what was rusted and fixed badly. As the paint came off the surprises started flowing... much rust was found and my dreams of a 4age were squashed http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

So anyway, long story short i have decided to give her a full restoration, new paint etc and get the body all nice and clean. Then i will get some new suspension, then a 4age...

Heres some pics to give you a bit of an idea about the extent of the rust lol. Its slow work but im doing it right, cutting out the bad bits, welding in clean bits, bogging it straight then coating it with some primer.

Massive props goes out to Aaron (ae71) without you i wouldn't of got this far man http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

^^^ There you can see where i have cut out some rust and welded in a couple of new bits.^^^

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/127758.jpg
^^^Drivers side, used to be a few holes but i have welded them all up now. Just need to bog it now, once i have finished the rest of the windscreen^^^

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/127759.jpg
^^^Thats the drivers side of the windscreen before i fixed it up.^^^

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/127760.jpg
^^^Ended up removing the dash so i could strip behind it and get at the rust a little bit better^^^

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1367/00007666aj.jpg
^^^Boot floor is absolutely fucked, luckily most corolla's etc have identical boot floors so i will just weld a new one in. The rest of the floorpan in in very good condition.^^^

http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/3165/00007686gq.jpg
^^^Whole back is gonna be a quite a bitch, but time effort and lots of weld will get it there...^^^

http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/3682/00007598rk.jpg
^^^And one last pic of my dog, Keiichi. Fluffiest poodle in the world!^^^

Thanks for reading! I will update one i finish the windscreen up i reckon.

Cheers,

Justin

Man spewin, the car looks pretty rooted... hopefully all fixable and works out for you mate.

Good to see some really effort going into rescuing the 86's, not just dumping them or writing it off and getting another...

Please keep negative comments to yourselves...

Hey Scott... Yeah i told you it was pretty bad but i suppose pictures do it a bit more justice lol... Thanks a lot bro, really appreciate the encouragement and the help with parts etc... I will most definitely come around again soon, will bring more dvds for you to annoy the missus with! Sounds good about the lack of heavy machinery... i swear that Shepard has got it in for me as well http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Cheers for the reply Scott

Anything is fixable with enough wire Vtec http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif Wire, metal and time...

Yeah, i think it is worth the effort. At least when it is done i can look back on it and be proud hey. Built the car with my own two hands...fairly literally. If it was easy it wouldn't be worth it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif Your comments mean a lot to me

Cheers

scott you need to get a filter on that thing, the 2 cars would of been kicking up a fair bit of dust the other day.. is the dam usa nascar styelz?? lol

any yeah these lots more rust in other places, not much metal in the back end.. anyone wanting to donate metal to justin would be most aprecated.. i think he needs a wheel well if anyone has one rust free..
