Hey guys

Just bought some of those autometer gauges from just jap (oil pressure oil temp and water temp)

Just wondering how hard is it to install these gauges, basically can you do it yourself wihtout difficulty with limited knowledge or should i just pay someone

(or can i bribe mattyshop to come up the road and teach me http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ph34r.gif

Any help would appreciated

Although i havent tried to install my Autometer Oil temp gauge yet, i can tell you that the water temp sendor doesnt fit my 4AG.

Had too tap it out.

Even with help from a mate who works in a machine shop we still didnt get it 100% but it works now so im cool.

Just go on ebay type sensor adaptor and search, actually they are everywhere in many performance shop, if you bought gauges off justjap, you can ask them the tread size of the sensors or you can even buy adaptor off them, they selling like 15-20 bucks for water sensor adaptor.

Did some research on this lil pain in the ass topic and what i found was

the senderS that just jap put in the box is completly wrong (suprise!)

For your water temp sender go down to auto barn and get a M16 x 1.5 reducer from VDO the item code is 320055 cost you like 13.00 bucks and then put it in and seal it with a sender safe silcone gasket maker.

As for the oil pressure sender you shoudl be fine as it states on the side that it is a 1/8 NPT which is the same as the side of block (4age 16v)

and lastly for the oil temp sensor yo need to get it out into the sump or into your oil cooler system just remember that if you put it in the sump u need to get it brazed ! so yeah have fun lol

Or, you could do what i did, and mount the oil temp/pressure sensors in the spin on adapter for a remote filter/cooler kit, and get a short peice of stainless pipe made up to mount the temp sensor in the top radiator hose. That way you also get to keep the original guages. You can never have too many guages http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif
