Ok, ive got a 4agze bigport out of an aw11 and a t50 off the back of my 4ac. But the problem is that the damn starter motor bulge on the bell housing is on the exhaust side (left).

What do i do? use the 4ac starter and backing plate or the gze starter modded to fit the 4ac backing plate.

And yair im confused as i thought it was supposed to be a straight fit!

Ok, the flywheel is now at the dump as its useless!

What doesnt fit is that the starters are on opisite sides. that is, the gze has it on the right while the t50 box is made to have them on the left. Any opiions?

Methinks the 4ac is supposed to be used along with the backing plate.

i dont see what the problem is?

bolt the gearbox to the motor
then try each starter motor?

if the gearbox wont bolt to the motor then u got a problem with something else. could be flywheel fouling on bellhousing.
also did you insert a spigot bearing into the crank of the gze

The GZE flywheel shouldnt fit inside the T50 anyways. 4AC starter + GZE + T50 = Good...

DONT FORGET HTE FRIGGIN PILOT BEARING!!!! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif

Right, so i use the 4ac starter and backing plate and MUST NOT FORGET PILOT BEARING!

Also, does a clutch kit contain a spigot bearing or is it the clutch fork bearing?

the bearing that comes with a clutch kit is for the throwout fork

nsk (the brand) do not ask for a 6001 because they will give you an open bearing (trust me, where do I work???) ask for a 6001LLUC3 (Sealed bothsides with higher radial clearence) also known as a 6001-2RSC3 or 6001VVC)

Spigot bearing= Pilot Bearing

Throwout bearing= release bearing

(Potato potato)

Right, so i use the 4ac starter and backing plate[/b]

You got it, and no, clutch kits dont come with the pilot bearing

Can some one clarify just what the pilot/spigot bearing really is, please. Because me being the cheap ass that i am, im trying to pull the THINGY that connets to the flywheel to the motor (you know what i mean). The reason for this i i want to use the 6 bolt 4ac flywheel in place of the 8 bolt ge/gze ones (talk about a grenade).

And yes both of these thingies have bearings in them. So what am i looking at?

It's exactly this thing...

The OD of the bearing is 28mm so its pretty small as well.

You want to use the 6 bolt flywheel on the 8 hole crank???

Ummm dude... NO!!!

The pilot sits in the middle of the end of the crank and is veiwable from the middle of the flywheel.

you def need a pilot bearing
it supports the input shaft
can lead to huge problems if you dont have one in there
