And i've had these for a while, but now that my suspension is going in i can finally use them. They are 15x7 +27 (pretty gay offset) Buddy clubs. BTW, my complete pedders setup will be for sale soon.

You should be able to use those wheels with just a 3-5mm spacer, unless the coilover spring comes too low, in which case it weill need more. I was able to run 15x7 25mm offset wheels, until i put helper springs on my coilovers. Now i run zero offset, which looks pretty sweet

Thanks for the comments http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

I use 5mm spacers when the standard struts are in and it fills the gaurds pretty well. But i havent tried with coilovers and neg camber yet. Hopefully they are alright.

Thanks for all the positive comments, really appreciate it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

The wheels that are on it now are 14x6.5 +3 offset. ATM they have 195/60's on them, because they were free http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

Well, i only have a pair of the buddy clubs so im planning to run them on the front with the 14's on the back. Going to try and get some 185/60's for them.

More pics tomorrow night when the coilovers are in. The old stuff is pretty much out, so after breakfast tomorrow i can concentrate on installing.

Called it a night, can't get the massive nut off the the steering arm off http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif

Well after many drama, the coilovers are finally in! Great christmas present :D The rims on the front are 14x6.5 +3 running 195/60. I chucked a 5mm spacer in behind that aswell, it looked phat but the tyres were rubbing on the inner gaurd plastic crap. So i have taken the spacers out but when i get 185/60 G3's soon, ill throw the spacers back on to see how that goes. The rear has not been done yet as you will no doubt be able to tell. Should be doing that tomorrow.

So here are the pics..

haha had some drama this morning getting out of my driveway. Its one of those bastard ones at a angle of about 50-60 degrees. Reversing out of it my inside wheel was in the air, so just spinning, and having a open diff at the moment, it didn't wanna move lol.

ae71neo
28th December 2005, 04:17 PM
Yeah having the P1's on the back is growing on me. They are only on there at the moment as they are the only rims i have that will fit on the back lol. The back is as high as the shocks can go, its just legal, like 105mm or something. The front will look a little lower when i get 185/60 tyres.

I love driving it so much now, it grips the road like shit to a blanket, its awesome!

Course out: Thanks! The springs were cut about 200mm from the flat bottom end. Mine are out of the front of a EA falcon. The shocks are super cheap gabriel specials, they are alright for how much they cost.. Part #: 69666

Took it for a wheel alignment today at dads work.

Camber: -2 degrees

Castor: Maxxed out at +2.7 degrees avg both sides

Toe: Neutral

Before the alignment, the toe was out by a total of -18.7mm. No wonder it was so fag to drive.

Looks nice man, bad luck about the accident, I know how it feels, I just wrote off my SECOND ke70 3 days ago... Got a white AE71 coming my way tomorrow to swap the 4age into, so should be all good.

Grab some colour match spraypaint from autobarn for that quarter panel, I think its $26.95 and they mix it up perfectly and pressurepack it for you. Also if you need a front grille, I have about 4 spares, so throw me some postage dollars and I'll send it up to ya.

That bit you were pointing out before is called the stone guard by the way http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif.

how do you find the suspension setup? and who supplied it

ae71neo
15th January 2006, 10:53 PM
The front is excellent, makes turn in that much better. And while cornering, more input on the steering wheel actually makes you turn more, not just understeer lol. Sits quite flat cornering, on a smooth road its awesome. Bumpy road the back can be a little bouncy. But that will be fixed when i put new shocks and springs in it soon.

Planning on taking out to Morgan Park in the nearish future, its should go nicely there.

ae71neo
15th January 2006, 10:54 PM
Oh sorry, AJPS (truenosedan on the forums) supplied the fronts. I got the rear my self.

ae71neo
19th January 2006, 10:02 AM
Well, got the qoutes back from the lancer guy. $3500-$3900. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

Apparantly he needs new rear quarters and even tailights..? wtf, i didnt even come close to the tail lights! So that means i pay my excess of $1100, and let insurance company deal with it....f***.

Anyway, my car has been running a bit crap lately, breaking down under load and missing while idling. I checked the plugs on poo, they seem to be alright, so im gonna swap the dizzy cap and leads from the yellow car to this one and see if it fixes it.

Ok, i have a tyre/wheel dilemma.

Need some opinions on what i should run.

1. Full set of the mesh 14's. Rear gaurds will need to be rolled. Running 185/60 tyres

2. Full set of 15's. Keep buddys on the rear, find some cheap 15's for the front and run 195/50's all round. (i wanted to buy the white watanabe style ones josh wass elling but to late http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif ) Means no need for gaurd love.

3. Run the rims how they are now with 185/60s on the front and 195/50s on the back. No gaurd mods needed.

The guards will be modded later on down the track when i can afford 15x8 - offset rims.

Just wondering what you guys reckon. Thanks.

the tyres are excellent
best slide tyres for the back of a hachi (or ke70/ae71)

they grip real well and a 4age can spin them easy.

best tyres ive run on my car so far.

2nd October 2006, 01:49 PM
how did u find the 20v conversion... easy to put into the ae71 ?

slydar
3rd October 2006, 12:44 PM
its fairly straight forward.

the only "hicup" specific to the 71 was the heater feed (from the heater core) on the ex' side. although it looks the same as ae86 it is actually orientated slightly differantly and interferes with the CAS, so the cas cover had to be modified slightly, and does make the actual fitting of the engine a little more tricky as it tends to foul on this point and makes it hard to seat the engine on the mounts.

70s are differant again in this respect as the feed in question points down. this might actually make it easier, though i cant say that for sure, we have only done 1 20v 70, a beige one (used to be my car/have a 16v 4age) which doesnt run a heater at all.

everything else works as it does in an ae86, including a fully opertaing heater ect with or 20v rwd water kit.

as for wiring 70s/and 71s differ slightly from 86s. even aus 86s have an efi circuit (though un used in the aus version obviously)

in travis's car we used an OEM toyota relay box for the efi, thermo fan and fuel pump circuits (on the passenger side strut tower) this keeps the wiring looking neat and almost OE, rather than a bunch of ugly generic relays tec screwed to the body which is common in conversions.

Hey Trav

Lookin hot.

Just for the record, you need to piss those foam filter off asap; as your motor will be feeling it in the mid to long run. Foam filters dont filter down that low (in terms of micron's), and any moisture that gets attraced into them... well, lets just say they are a big sponge. I doubt anyone here would want to put a damp sponge down there manifold, and expect the motor to like it & benifite from it. K&N are expensive, and are the goods. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

Finally got my hands on a digital camera and took some shots of how she looks now. Pretty much only thing different is the wheels, but i think it looks pretty tough.

Let me know what you guys think...

I got the JDM brakes on. But i think they might need a kit, they bind on the rotors with no pedal pressure. Which is gay. I might give them another bleed and see how they work after that.

Brakes still binding on the pads after a fresh rebuild. The pistons stay out and dont go back in. Even after bleeding etc. Maybe it cos the pads are low? But they arent that low...

This is shitting me now...

Sorry its off the phone, but you get the picture...

They are a little better now, i can spin them without wheels on, but they are still rubbing pretty hard on the pads and not really free spinning how they used to.

don't mean to insult your skills http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif is it possible that the wheel bearings have been done up too tight? i used to see that a lot in my old shop.

i can't see a pic of the pads, but really can't see how that would be doing it anyway

ae71neo

Nar they arent, i can spin the rotors easy without any brakes on there. I just put the wheels on and took it for a quick drive, it feels as if the rear is doing nearly all the work, but then again there are marks on the front rotors where i have been braking. I'll jack the front up again and see how they spin now after a drive.

14x8 -10s on the left 14x7.5 -12s on the right.

Also got the power steering arms on, poo now has lock! Gonna have to do some guard bashing, but ill wait till the MKIIs go on.

I also put some new brake pads in, its a little better, but rear is still locking first. Fronts are biting but as i took it for a drive to bed them in, and you could smell them for about in hour in my garage lol.

Words cannot describe how awesome the dish/offset is on those wheels. Quick, get some rubber on them so we can all see it on the car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Any plans to spray the centres or clean them up?

Dude! they are actually the hottest wheels ever! 14's ftw. You gonna flare the rears?

ae71neo
20th May 2007, 01:41 AM
Im thinking about getting the pair of 7.5's cleaned up so they match the 8's.

Yeah im gonna have to flare the rears for the 8s to fit. Thinking of actually getting some decent rubber all round in either 185/60 or 195/60. Something like Dunlop DZ02s, Toyo R888s or Bridgestone RE55s.

beaut wheels dude, id get the 7.5's on the front with a 185 60 and a 185 65 on the rear. Would come up nice. I think bolt on flares on the rear and flared front works nice.
