Degreaser and water.

funkymonkey
29th December 2005, 09:33 AM
There's this degreaser that they sell in Autobarn which works wonders when you spray on the engine bay, then blast with a high pressure hose. Just try not to get the water on the electronics.

its made by Kenco, called "Shift It". Spray it on for a couple of minutes to let it work into the grease/dirt etc then blast it with water. Think its like $12 for 5L, works wonders, you can use it to clean almost everything, from seats to enginebays. Just make sure you don't get it on your paint, it has a habit of dulling clearcoats.

my turbo setup has basically the works, for reliability sakes. has trd forged i beam rods, arias forged pistons, 10.5:1 compression, race-grooved bearings, all gapped to 1,5 thou', bigport head, ported, 2mm oversize exhaust valves, massaged combustion chambers, standard inlet plenum, hks 2510 turbo, 2,5 inch mandrel bent exhaust. runs standard bigport n/a cams at the moment, and dosent really need more power, but have been told by tuner we could safely run 16 psi..... which would get close to 180-190 rwkw, if i was game, then theres always cams ect that could up the ante more, but at the moment its very reliable and pulls HARD.

not at this point, as at the moment it is more than i really need as is, and i am very happy with it, as stated, any further development will be raise the boost a bit first if necessary, and possibly then a better inlet/exhaust manifold setup, THEN some cams if they are needed..

well we'll see what happens this weekend, but noise was just the start, have actually melted 4 x arias forged pistons as we have been apparently running about 10 or more degrees too much timing, and its gonna take quite an effore to get to the track next weekend... hmmmm..... will have to see what spares we have lying around, but put it this way, i need a complete machine rework of existing motor, bores, crank needs grinding and rods need resizing to suit crank.... boo hoo...........

BUT better monday on the hill near home than 4 laps into practice in sydney next week i guess.....

i tried quite hard to have a tidy engine bay when i inserted the 20v
so i rewired the fuse box into the cabin etc.
this is finished.

Still got a couple things to do to make it look neater. Was gonna remake or remove the dizzy heat shield, paint up some random bits of metal black and possibly make up an airbox.

I'll post up pics of any progress http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

My engine.....before and after shots.

The wiring was a mess when i got it.....also the photo's make it look pink but its actually magenta and it matches the colour of thr trumpets or near the same colour in person.....did not want it pink like andy's old hachi.
