Hey guys, I'm the new girl on the block... the names Alexia.
My bf (DRFTAE86) has finally finished building my new ride and we had just got it rego'd the other day. We bought the shell for $300 (it had hit a tree/pole and had no engine or driveline or interior) and then bought another rolled 86 with complete engine and interior for another $300.
Then my bf spent the last month preping and fixing the red shell and slowly moving over all the parts across from the rolled 86 (I helped http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif ).
In total we have spent just under $2000.Thats on raod with a roadworthy and 6months rego, not bad huh.
My bf was nice enough to give me some rims and suspention to make my car look a little more drift spec. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wub.gif

Thought i'd show you guys so u know who's driving it if you see me around. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Now that mine is at least on the road my bf can get back to getting his 86 back to roadworthy spec.

This is a pic of when we first bought the shell....

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_3538.jpg
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_3539.jpg

The radiator support was a bit worse for wear... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_3668.jpg

So my bf chooped off the front of the rolled 86 and got it welded on to replace the destroyed front.... and gave it a bit of paint to neaten it up...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_4165.jpg

The spare wheel well was also in a scrapable condition...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_3676.jpg

So once again, my bf cut it out and got the 1 from the rolled shell welded in...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_4168.jpg

And since we had to clean up the boot well i sprayed the interior silver as well...
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/1/1/7/82.jpg

My bf's engine bay spray can job...

My bf assembling the interior...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_4184.jpg

Just after we finished dropping in the 4ac and gearbox from the rolled 86...
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y154/DRFTAE86/IMG_4203.jpg

And a week or so later (we finally got an appointment for rego) the car was on the road. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanks dude! we got the front straightened by South Link in Dandenong. Really good guys there. Recommend them for any structural repairs. They just showed us what they needed....so Ronald cut off the front from the rolled 86....then SouthLink did their thing and put it on the red 86......end result looked good as new....apparently better than factory (as we needed the measurements for our RWC) found out the car is only .5mm off being perfectly striaght....cars are given a 3mm allowance (out of factory dimensions).

nice work dude (and dudette)... good to see all your hard work paying off. Do you still want that interior stuff?

Makes me wanna road reg my 86 again instead of keeping it track only. Now if I can convince you to help me develop a new bodykit (I know you like chopping up the 180sx skirts) for the 86.

Yep, sure has changed a fair bit..... 86's turn out looking alot better when there in my care http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

Dunno if i could ever be fecked making a original bodykit again..... but i'll probly be running my old 1 off front bar when mines back on the road again.
I also have plans for fatting out a pair of vertex 180 side skirts i got for free to *massage* to the the 86.

I'll let ya know when that time comes. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

PS: i'd be happy to lend my front bar to a proper fibreglaaser if someone in Melbourne thinks they can make a copy. Just give me a pair back in return http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/cool.gif
Though its a bit more "bumped around" since this pic.

powder coat them don't paint em... they'll look good for a few seconds before you start driving with em on if you paint em.

Ppppfffttt.... Powder coating is like $40 a rim, good old spray can is all i used.

Have done the same with many other rims and they always stayed looking good. and if u do manage to scratch them or get some fade.... just rip out the good old spray can again. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif
