I laughed so hard when they headlined this on the news and in the paper

for all the simpeltons out ther...
ru 486 is a abortion drug thats had a lot of publicity laterly:
"RU 486"
" do you love hachi roku"???

i honestly couldnt care either way.....but its better than doing it the old fashioned way i guess...plus its cheaper.

it also has other benefits, like cancer treatment and such...so i can see this as an improvement, i mean its available in 35 other countries...

didnt really intend on starting any sort of debate just thought the name was ironic, as many children must of been uncomfortably conceived in the rear seats of a hachi roku

yeah it might be good now, but how many other pills and medicines etc have they
said was good for us and then relised about 5-10 years later thats its actually the
worst bloodly thing we could have taken...

although i dont belive in abortion, i see it as their right to make that decision.

i think this is another political debate that strays away from what it is really about.

it stopped being about whether this drug should be available as one of the MANY ways to abort a pregnancy and became about whether or not abortion itself should be allowed.

just another case where politicians along with other complaining bitches miss the point entirely.

allow it or not?....who gives a f*** its all the same in the end

They need to seriously look at the drug itself as an "aborting agent". Its not all its cracked up to be.

Clincal trials and testing (information that is not shared by the media or drug companies http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ) shows that there is a high incidence rate of incomplete abortion. The end result is women having to under go a D&C to scrape the rest out. This is the kind of information that seems to not be considered by the multitude within parliment and the general public.

Everyone has this preconcieved idea that its swallow the pill have quite a heavy period and that's it. While it is possible to have it administed orally, the usuall method will be a vaginal pellet/suppository or injection... in order to increase blood levels quickly.

Just some side info for you guys and gals...... RU486 being a steroid (no not for getting buff http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif ) on a molecular level shares alot of similarities to Ibuprofen... yep the same drug as in Nurofen.

Anyway..... having a girlfriend that is a midwife and being a registered nurse by profession, you tend to further analyse things more than the BS and misinformation that is fed by the media. Saddens me that people are treated like mushrooms even when it comes to their own health.

Speedy!

i think every one should be entitled to an abortion once only (unless for medical reasons)
Its wrong and unfair to bring some into this world then take them out when they dont even have a choice.
Personaly myself i would never have one....it disgusts me.

I'm all for it in situations like that (i HATE people who hit or rape women), but i think the rate of abortions will skyrocket if it's easy as taking a pill...

both sides have their ups and downs....

i loved crystal caves! and secret agent. and i was never good at jill of the jungle so i didn't really like it.

my 2c - the debate shouldn't be about choice it should be about the safety of of the drug. and there are many factors involved that should also be taken into acocunt like psych follow up if it doesn't do a complete abortion etc

some people shouldn't have choice (shoot me for saying this) but my mum works with DOCs people sometimes and there are people who are far better off without children. (or atleast at certain points in their lives). and their children are far better off without their biological parents which sometimes only perpetuates the cycle.

that was more like $2...

RU486 or RUAGAINST86 ? heh heh

486 DX2 66 prince of persia w000t ahh the incredible machine. Awesome games!

back to reality.

Its a tough topic. On one hand women should have a choice. BUT on the other hand if you REALLY think about it being pro-choice just means your pro-excuses to kill life.

Thats all the arguements are FOR abortion... excuses. Oh I cant raise my child im too young, or I dont have money I cant look after it well.

Those might be true facts, but theyre also excuses to kill your unborn child. Thats what this society has become. One unable to face its own mistakes. Im not saying I could face my own in such a circumstance. But I still think killing of a life shouldnt be advocated.

And The whole debate about at what months a life is a life is BS. As soon as a test has confirmed pregnancy then that IS a life.

If this drug comes onto the market we'll just be a 'pop a pill and forget' nation. moreso longterm side effects of such drugs cannot be proven safe. Anyways theres my 2cents.

Okay I've been trying to stay quiet on the whole pro-life versus pro-choice argument because I knew I'd end up ranting. But I can't stay silent any longer.

I've faced this tough decision twice, once when I was 19. I was working as an office junior in my first full time job and had only just moved out of home a few weeks before. My boyfriend freaked out and left me when he found out I was pregnant and would ring me nearly every night crying and begging me to have an abortion arguing that it would destroy his life as well as mine which was kind of prophetic as I could have died due to complications that occured during childbirth.

The second time was when I was engaged to an extremely violent, abusive, controlling person and I won't go into details but I was left pregnant, living on my own, with no money, lots of debt and not eligible for any sort of maternity leave payments so any time I took off work to have the baby would be unpaid.

Both times I choose not to have an abortion and now have two extremely beautiful boys who make me very proud and bring great joy to my life.

BUT I believe that until the umbilical cord is cut a baby is part of the mother's body. I won't subscribe to the whole argument about when it's "alive" because whether it's "alive" or not it is still a part of the mother's body until it is born and the is cord cut.

Being a part of the mother's body I don't believe that ANYBODY has a right to tell the mother what she can and can't do with her body! I believe it is a HUGE infringement of the most basic human rights to force a woman to continue an unwanted pregnancy and suffer childbirth akin to rape or torture.

I don't believe that it is right to have an abortion but I also don't believe that it right to stop women from having one if that is their choice.

My beliefs are based not only on my own personal experiences but on accounts by my friends who have choosen to have abortions one of whom was raped and fell pregnant, and another whose baby's brain failed to develop properly and would have been born a vegetable.

Sorry for the rant http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/huh.gif

Good work Indi.. Was trying to think of a way to put my thoughts down but I agree exactly with you.. Except I don't have any children, I was pregnant, it was unwanted but I was going to keep it but I miscarriaged instead. However when I found out that I was, it was hard having every second person pushing abortion onto me.
