Have fun.

auto just means i dont have to pull the cable clutch pedal out. ke's are cable clutch, so to run a 4ag/t50 you need to change the pedal anyway.

Gilly
18th February 2006, 03:41 PM
i think you have to change the whole pedal box dude. i had to change mine but it wasn't originally auto. also the ae86 gearbox mount won't work all the holes are different, again mine wasn't auto originally, so the above info could be wrong!!!

if you want to offload the rear seat i'll take it i need some other interior parts too, depending on how much you want to strip it.

pm me if you want to get rid of that shit, how's the wheel hunting going, found some for me?

good to see another beige one getting around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

i have been speaking to a bloke up in townsville whyo is willing to supply me every single part i would need out of an ae71 including x-member, engine mounts, gearbox, everything. its a little bit of cash that i dont want/need to spend if i dont have to.

i could sell the gearbox but its money tied up and i have f*** all atm.

im also pretty sure people have used 86 hardware to do the hydraulic conversion before. the car should be here tomorow so i can have a good look.

i sell you the rear seats for sure. im sure we can agree on a price i wont want much at all.

mumblezzz
19th February 2006, 08:15 PM
I used all AE86 shit in my conversion. pedals/engine crossmeber and gbox crossmember. You just have to elongate the holes a little for it to line up.

Gilly
19th February 2006, 08:48 PM
did you drill new holes for the crossmember? i just modified the stock one. are you talking about the pedal box or the pedals? my ke70 pedal box had absolutely no provision for the mastercylinder at all. mumblezz you have an AE71 don't you? i think thats where the difference is as they already have hydraulic clutch.

slydar

ke70 beige is the same colour as super crap primer filler. what does that mean? no top coat thats what.

hey hands off dazza.

wire brush doesnt scratch it. actually it polish it sorta, its like the 4th or 5th box ive cleaned up now, doesnt take that long.. you get dirty though..

and MC, its a KE70 auto. ill have pics of the actual car with that motor in it by tomorow evening. i got a helper tomorow.

i guess it seems a little bling, but then you think about say the amount of cash dudes with nissans spend, and it is still a hella cheap car.

i should really say thanks to Ant, he gave me the clutch disc, welded the crack in my headers, offered to do my wiring (i wanna have half a go at it on this one though) he hooks me up alot. i try to give back what i can but yeah, thanks Ant http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tup.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

slydar
2nd April 2006, 09:21 PM
hahahaha thatd be so sic. also btw. with this project i am definately realising KE70 does not = AE86. was having a look at the floor while i was under there undoing things/cutting the exhuast, http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/98849.jpg there are alot less "cross members". NO reinforcement extending out from the rails to the sills ect. similar yes but there are definately differances, the "generation gap" is definately not hard to notice if you look.

i snavelled it off josh andy so it was cheap. you can buy brand new techno pro spirits ones from greenline.jp i think it is for a reasonable price.

after talking to josh when he dropped it off he confirmed my belief that its so worth it.. said with the NA setup it really amde what he hoped it would be, really helped getting the car in the "meat" (his words) of 3rd.

dude this car cost $200. as long as you have some place to work on it where people arent going to be too pised if it sits around in peices for awhile then what have you got to loose? you will learn something even if it never goes back together and you have to have it taken away (which is usually free anyway)

Who/What/Where is Kaizen Garage, I have been hearing about it on a couple of forums.

slydar
4th April 2006, 11:14 AM
Kaizen garage is Anthony Kellam basically. At this stage i guess i am an "associate", i help out. Let people know the products and services are around, do some basic fitting of looms ect.

there will be a site and and a workshop again in the very near future. but already Ant has all the facilities required to perform any work you require on you hachi/performance car. oh yeah, Brisbane based.

ok so i have the ae86 clutch pedal in there. its in but it is not pretty. lucky this thing really is a shitter...

fucking hell i can not more strongly advise people to get an ae71 clutch pedal/pedal box. itd be alot easier.

getting the holes drilled in the right spot without really anything to guide you is pretty hard.

you can not put the clutch master where it is "ment" to be, where the oval shaped flattened off section is on the firewall with the ae86 clutch pedal. definately start with the clutch pedal, make that fit first.

you definately have to take the column out, and it would help alot to take the heater box out, though i didnt.

FFS!

auto's suck the WANG.

its not a rubber boot, its s centr bearing. all 86s have that. but jap ones have a solid 2nd half of the tailsahft. the t18 half shaft everyone uses when they put a t series in is actually 2 pieces, and outer and an inner, with hard rubber inbtween, to aid NVH. dont know what NVH is? google it. dont ask here. motors in.

ke70 throttle cables are the wrong spacing from ajuster barrel to end. have a proper 86 4ag cable... was gonna keep itfor the 86 but thats getting a gze now so.. guess i can use it.

leaving the heater box out for now, had to move it so i could drill a hole to secure the 86 clutch pedal. just have the core bypassed.

might end up staying out... run something electric.. really want to run the coil inside the cabin, have the heater box out makes that easy and neat.

do also really want a demister too though, its coming up on winter and i will be out doing skids every time it rains so..

had this dilemma last time, keep or scrap the heater.. new poll?

G'day...

Your cars looking ace so far mate...

Solution to lack of demister is to put stick on electric demister on windsreen (Like on rear screen)....May be able to get them from autobarn or similar....

V8 supercars did this a couple of years ago...seems to work good...saves puting a heater (heavy) back in...

I intend to do this to my sprinter when I finally get it going again...

wont work. def' will need a clutch hose with a banjo (the 90* fitting you speak of) anyway, which i can get no prob.

BUT the headers actually TOUCH the clutch slave.. could put my JDM box and bellhousing in.. but.. CBF'd taking the engine out again/too nicer box for this project.

have other options, not a big deal really.

on the heater.. the idea was for this car to be all legal as far as the engine conversion, engineered and all that.. but knowing me, once its in and running..

doing the loom right now..

slydar

rb_sil80

oh shit dude well seems like ur in a bit of a pickle then.

i suppose your only options are JDM box and bellhousing

modify the extractors, or get new extractors.

the extractors dave got for me from you, they hit the clutch line but there was decent clearance to the slave once i used the 90 deg banjo fitting

slydar
9th April 2006, 03:42 PM
yeah, we have a OEM type rubber hose we can sell with the headers if requested.

Damn, sounds like your having a shit of a time with the conversion. Maybe there are differences between the early/late models. My clutch pedal fit perfectly. I just marked it out on the little flat bit on the firewall and it was in the right position. Brake pedal needed a little bit of angle grinder love and it bolted in. But yeah you do need to drop the steering column.

slydar
11th April 2006, 02:38 PM
must be a differance. my car was originally auto too. maybe they have a differant column.

when did you get a gz10 dude? that is my brothers in the thread you replied to in the members cars section on toymods. used to be mine.

we have another mz11 if you need odd spares, might be able to help out. i have some crown rear hubs aswell. for 5 stud conversion if youre interested.
