View Full Version : breno's ke70

26th February 2006, 07:10 PM
Picked this up yesterday, its pretty clean aswell. It has a 4k, 5speed, clean interior and exterior. Ive searched the body and have not found much rust, just some spots on the roof and boot, and a little bit on a door. A big thanks to Cass (D1_Spec) for going and having a look at it for me, i proberly wouldnt have it if it wasnt for him http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif The engine runs pretty rough when i first turn it on but it sorts itself out once you start driving, hopefully it will be replaced soon anyway.

26th February 2006, 07:13 PM
Looking good man. Finally got one.

Now I just gotta get myself an ae86 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif .

21st July 2006, 12:03 AM
Recieved these today, xt130 lca's, ra40 tie rod ends and new bushes

edit, might aswell throw up a recent picture of the car aswell.

19th November 2006, 06:33 PM
Time for a update me thinks, Got a hole load of suspension waiting to go in, all im waiting on is my struts. Consisits of, XT130 lca's, 8kg fronts, 6kg rears, tercel 17mm rear sway bar, excel g shocks front and rear, new bushes, nrca's. Bought a set of 5 ma61 wheels for $300, only running them up the front at the moment because they came with 235's, and i got some grid II's for free, thanks Nathan http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tup.gif

Also bought a te71 front bumper which is coming in a few weeks, in the mean time i was bored and thought i would try and make a front lip, turned out pretty good i think, has a nice angle and shape, although the cable ties kinda make it look shit, anyway heres some pics.

19th November 2006, 07:16 PM
Looks good maing. Hurry up and chuck the suspension shit in and bring it down here. Take it for a thrash on that dirt road outside the gate's of QR, like in the barina http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

19th November 2006, 07:26 PM
It looks pretty.
But I reckon you should screw that lip on. Take away that bush mechanic look.

19th November 2006, 07:30 PM
Front bumper looks the shiz man, i like it. Want to do something similar to my t18, but bigger. What did you use to make it lol?

19th November 2006, 07:45 PM
Its just a old bumper i cut up, think i might paint it yellow im not sure, and defilinty find a better way to mount it.

19th November 2006, 08:13 PM
Use door hinges to hold the lip up =D..

Zipties = Nah..

19th November 2006, 10:17 PM
looks good man i still think that is the best condition ke70 iv ever seen lol:)
i like the front lip i might give that a got 2 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

19th November 2006, 10:19 PM

19th November 2006, 10:47 PM

i like the front lip i might give that a got 2 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif[/b]

Thanks man, although you might find from the pics its not so clean anymore, i had a little incident a few months ago which im pretty annoyed about.

Hoping i will get my struts either this week or next week, it sucks living so far away as everything i have bought for my car (even the car its self!) has been of the internet, cant get anything locally http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tdn.gif

19th November 2006, 10:52 PM
yeh it would be a bit hard getting shit up there in bundie land lol

23rd November 2006, 03:42 PM
No more zipsites, made up some brackets so it would still sit on a angle and pop rivited it there. Also bumper is back on just had to take it off to get the drill in there.

P.S - It looks shit in photos!

23rd November 2006, 05:19 PM
i'm itching to do another KE70

might sell the 86 when its finished and do another 70

23rd November 2006, 10:26 PM
very nice man nice work http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

7th December 2006, 03:36 PM
Got my TE71 bumper today, and finally got tyres for the rear wheels yesterday, origionaly orderd 185/60 Grid II's but they rang up complaing that they were too small and have put 195's on instead http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif
Anyway, thought i would go out and get some hard parking photos, cant wait to put my front suspension in!

7th December 2006, 03:41 PM
ajps FTW

also i reckon paint everthing under the bar black

7th December 2006, 11:37 PM
Yeah Two tone stock yellow/black. Then mayb a back bumper might be nice. Looks monsterish..

8th December 2006, 12:26 AM
My JDM 70 days are over, Breno is going to beat me. worthy adversary!!! keep an eye on this thread peeps will be a sweey 70 when finished, possibly best on here......

8th December 2006, 08:48 AM
That sounds like a challenge! The race is on...

I think someone in the competition's already trying to get to me, I woke up this morning to three witches hats and a chair on my car. Not happy.

8th December 2006, 12:39 PM
definately ..I'm in for a race haha

8th December 2006, 08:59 PM
Nah, taken in Bundy.
Might get my front suspension in sooner than i thought, might have time to drive down to brissy next week.

8th December 2006, 09:21 PM
Bahah, just realised we have a Option sticker in the same place.

This cars going to go a long way. I envy those bumpers something crazy.

MA61 rims look great on it as well, shame about being forced to go wider in width with tyres.

8th December 2006, 09:27 PM
That;s a hot looking ke breno!

There is going to be a very tidy posse of 70's and 71's on here when everyone gets there shit together

8th December 2006, 09:41 PM
that looks sweet with chrome bumber man http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

8th December 2006, 10:33 PM
it's good to see someone putting effort in to one. lots of guys do but then the majority just want to pig them up as a shitter, spend the time make them hot

Tye (AE71GZE) more pics of yours dude. HOT SAUCE

8th December 2006, 10:59 PM
Lol, i dont intend on having the best, i just hoping to have a good all round car.

8th December 2006, 11:05 PM
^^^ bah don't tell everyone LOL!!!

12th December 2006, 02:57 PM
Semi stripped the interior today, and got more than i bargained for http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wacko.gif
Will proberly take the sound deadening out around christmas when i have a few days off.

So when i lifted the rear seats this is the last thing that i expected, almost made me spu!! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tdn.gif

And after a bit of a clean up

12th December 2006, 06:19 PM
Oh shiiiiiit, bet that was a nice surprise. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

I'm worried about what is under mine now........

13th December 2006, 04:13 PM
I pulled my seat out on Monday and found seven bucks! Sub's paying for itself.

Yours was a nasty present. I'll pull my carpet out eventually, it's pretty ruined though I doubt the lady friend'd cope too well without it.

13th December 2006, 06:26 PM
looking hot as breno, you need to be carefull bout those seats tho, not sure what the fine is for not being mod plated for two seats
but the fine for not mod plated for different engine is $225

probly wouldnt be as much as that, but any fine that can be avoided is good

13th December 2006, 06:59 PM
I was quoted $50 to get it mod plated to a 2 seater but different engineers may change different prices.

Good luck with the sound deadening http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

13th December 2006, 09:33 PM
Yeah, i know i can get defected for no rear seats, i just cbf putting them back in lol.
And i auctually got pulled over last night for a rbt, cops didnt even take a second look.
And its gonna be fun taking this sound deadening out in the middle of summer!!

15th December 2006, 12:04 AM
Noo! The Smick interior!?

15th December 2006, 12:50 AM
Sik n shit.

Looking good dude, now I need your gear in mine and all sweet, so we can battle on the I AM GAY. Haha.

15th December 2006, 04:49 PM
Spent hours today slowly chipping away at my sound deadening, and not even half way through yet!!!
There is still alot of glue left over, tryed turps and kero did nothing though, and cant be fucked going to get some heavy duty wax and grease remover cause my back is saw http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/glare.gif

15th December 2006, 06:00 PM
lol use a heat gun.
so much easier.

15th December 2006, 06:06 PM
lol use a heat gun.
so much easier.[/b]

Yeah i started off using one first but it was even worse, i think when i finish it off i will try dry ice.

16th December 2006, 05:44 AM
I know your pain... I did the same, and am left with lots of glue and lumps of shit... nail polish remover gets it off nice tho, but it's again alot of work. I think I might just get the sander out.

edit: It's amazing what you can do with kero, paint scrapers, wirewool and some jocks (http://picasaweb.google.com/image/sledger/RYPDGqERtFI/AAAAAAAAAwk/M-vfMUEmW4A/IMGP2253.JPG)

17th December 2006, 06:56 PM
Done some more work today, used a heat gun this time and it is alot quicker and easier, also cleaned it up pretty well, so im pretty happy with it now.
Not to sure when i will do the front, mabye next week, im over it at the moment http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

17th December 2006, 07:06 PM
if you have the back seats out, take the seat belts out, that way they cant ping you as easily, i got mine mod plated because when i bought the car it had no back seats.

19th December 2006, 07:35 PM
Finished the rest of it off today, pretty happy with it, I weighed all of the sound deadening that i got out and i got 24kg's just alone, i was pretty suprised about that, and with some other general stuff i took it was 37kg's all up so im happy.

20th December 2006, 10:16 AM
nice weight saving!

20th December 2006, 12:26 PM
Yeah its auctually 40kg now, since i have taken the heater box out aswell i replaced the vent on the main console with a sheet of aluminium, think it looks pretty cool aswell!
And finally after like a 6 month wait my front suspension will be in on sunday!

20th December 2006, 03:25 PM
heey that looks pretty schmick!, im not really a fan of the no carpet thing though http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif its cool and all, but as soon as you get some dirt in there it just hangs around for aaaaages, at least with carpet it soaks in http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

lookin good though, love that daym front bumper!! **envy**

26th December 2006, 06:08 PM
Put my front suspenion in today, no problems which was great!
I suspect i have around 3-4 degrees of camber, and a shit load of extra track but ill get the proper specs tomarrow when i get a wheel alignment.
Im also using ke70 strut tops on ae86 struts which gives you a shit load of positive caster, which is why im running my stocko's on the front, im gonna have the chop a shit load out of the front of the guards tomarrow.
It looks very sweet with the ma61 wheels up the front but wasnt drive able so ill just have to wait until tomarrow, anyway here are some photos for now!

Sucks working on dirt!!!!!!

Xt130 lca's, ae86 struts, nrca's, 8kg ajps springs, exel g shocks, ra40 tie rod ends

And now some shitty photos, started to rain so they are shit...

27th December 2006, 10:20 AM
Does anybody have a spare centre console bit that goes over the gear leaver? mines all cracked.

27th December 2006, 12:02 PM
suspensions looking awesome man!
i wish i had that sorta stuff in my car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

im not sure if i have a spare gear thing... i think i chucked it out after i did my zebraness... even so its blue so it would look kinda sikening in your car

27th December 2006, 12:23 PM
the te72 bar is gangsta

27th December 2006, 12:32 PM
Your sound deadening came up better than mine, im still getting all the little bits of glue off with a wire brush attachment to my cordless drill, comes up good but takes a while and its messy. And ive still got the front half off the car to do yet.

27th December 2006, 02:28 PM
looking good Breno.

will be sik with MA61's all round http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

27th December 2006, 03:45 PM

27th December 2006, 06:12 PM

i want one again http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

27th December 2006, 08:54 PM
Thats hot, its like just the right height

27th December 2006, 09:21 PM
lookin good man http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif
i got a center console but im in sydney lol

27th December 2006, 10:55 PM
Ever considered two tone ?

27th December 2006, 11:48 PM
Yeah i did consider two tone at one point, that was with black from half way down, done a photoshop of it and thought it wasnt for me. I like it with the black strips on the side, i think thats as two tone as im gonna get http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
Anouther photo.....

28th December 2006, 12:53 PM
You said a couple of post back that you have removed the heater box, Does the fan still work so you can defog the windscreen when it fogs up ?

28th December 2006, 05:25 PM
Should try AJPS ae71 style two tone.

29th December 2006, 02:22 AM
lookin sweet, cant wait to do my suspension and get some nice quads.

29th December 2006, 08:54 AM
I got a spare console centre peice, the bit that goes over the handbrake?

29th December 2006, 09:04 PM
Just because i can here are some more photos, i dunno for some reason but i just cant capture how the car really looks in real life http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/huh.gif
And a pic of my ghetto flared guards that i done this arvo....

29th December 2006, 09:10 PM
Also you may notice the big granny steering wheel, i sold my other one so im using this for now, so weird.... But it will be replaced with a nice suede sparco http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Also massive tyres FTL!!!!!!!

29th December 2006, 09:10 PM
Looks like you did the same thing as i did
just took the guards off and knocked it out with a mallet?

Cars looking good man, its amazing what a good suspesion and wheels can do to a car. Plus the lip and the front bar just ice it off

29th December 2006, 09:19 PM
Yeah i just got a rubber mallet and starting hitting away, turn out better than i expected, as in its not as rough as i have seen some people's turn out.

29th December 2006, 09:27 PM
Lookin tough as mate, nice work

31st December 2006, 02:18 PM
yep thats sik Breno

its all in the height and rim selection, nice one

31st December 2006, 04:15 PM
Looking awesome http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Did you take the gaurds off to flare em? do you have to if you did?

31st December 2006, 05:25 PM
Yeah i pulled my guards off to do it, it only takes like 10mins, id imagen you could proberly do it on the car with a bit of wood or something on the outside, but it would be arkward and would proberly end up taking longer and i doubt u would get the same result.

2nd January 2007, 11:33 PM
Went for my first slide with my new sus in tonight, and i found out 3 things.
1. I need a smaller steering wheel, stock one is too big
2. Grid II's are still too gripy even with 45psi in them
3. I almost crashed because of the open wheeler, it shot me straight ahead lol

But other than that, its still very controlable sliding and now i cant wait to get a 16v in there!
Im hoping to enter as many drift days as possible after its done.

3rd January 2007, 08:36 AM
Where you drifting with the stock engine?

3rd January 2007, 11:34 AM
Not a bad effort at all if that was in the dry

3rd January 2007, 11:55 AM
Yeah stock engine and diff, its proberly got like 25kw?!! and was in the dry
But it doesnt really matter what car you drive just how big your balls are!

3rd January 2007, 11:57 AM
Wow, my car doesn't even drop a skid in the dry. I don't know how you managed that. My hat goes off to you.

5th January 2007, 01:56 AM
Well, all things have to come to a end dont they....
This is why you shouldnt drift with a open centre, i had done many passes before and this was to be my last one, got half way through and the open centre shot me straight ahead nothing i could do, down a big drop off into a imbankment.
The car is a write off, the right hand side wheel is pushed back heaps, it got pushed back on the the accelerator, and either broke my ankle or severly sprained it, have to go for x-rays tomarrow.

The only thing im annoyed about is my bumper! i sorta checked my suspension, the struts seem ok, springs are ok, dunno about the control arms, and my shocks are bent, and in the back i think the shocks snapped.

5th January 2007, 02:01 AM

Will you be adding this to the "Before and After thread" ? You bent a nice chrome front bar too...such as waste.

5th January 2007, 09:12 AM
that sux Breno, sux big time. probably doesn't make you feel an different but at least your in reasonable shape. thats a fair hit, you'll be sore when you wake up this morning!!

wrote my first 86 off in similar circumstances, opens a very unpredictable IMO!!

that is indeed bad news.

salvage what you can and move on..

5th January 2007, 10:12 AM
that sucks man, maybe THATS why they say LSD is essential for drift.....

5th January 2007, 10:40 AM
Thats devastating ...its times like this when you thank christ your not an 86 driver
and replacement is a hell of a lot cheaper and easier .
Poor little te chrome bumper though http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

5th January 2007, 10:43 AM
ohh man, unlucky.....such a shame, but the main thing is your ok http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

5th January 2007, 10:57 AM
damn was such a nice car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

wanted that front bumper Lol

5th January 2007, 11:27 AM
Thanks guys, i dunno what ill do now, happend at a bad time as i quit my job last week.
I will proberly build anouther one up just for the track.
And my ankle isnt broken just tissue damage and something about a ligimate.

5th January 2007, 11:40 AM
FARKK http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif didnt no it was that bad are u going to be selling the parts ?
or keeping em for the next car

5th January 2007, 11:40 AM
Wow, that's horrible. This car was like an inspiration to me.

Glad to see you're ok though and that most of the goodies seem salvagable.

I still don't have any clue how you can drift it in the dry though.

5th January 2007, 12:42 PM
holy shit in those second photo's the damage is heaps worse than i thought initially!!

5th January 2007, 12:46 PM
It's fixeable

5th January 2007, 01:00 PM
Get well soon mate.

5th January 2007, 01:04 PM
Gilly just told me about this, feel really bad for you champ... just get back into it hey!

Hope it all turns out ok bro,

5th January 2007, 01:06 PM
oh, nasty roof bend aswell! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

5th January 2007, 01:20 PM
This is why you shouldnt drift with a open centre,[/b]

5th January 2007, 01:43 PM
tough luck cheif, Locking my diff was the best thing i ever did to my car. All you can do mate is learn from the experience and move on. It kinda sucks cause if you had hit the back end you could go buy an ae71 and put all your good gear from the front onto it.

Make sure the next one that you build you lock her up. Takes an hour to do and is the difference between your car been not fun and dangerous and being the most fun you can have on 4 wheels and reasonably safe.

I will light a candle for her tonight.

5th January 2007, 01:51 PM
Geez man, that looks worse then the misses car after she hit a tree at 100 k's :S

5th January 2007, 07:55 PM
Thanks guys, its at the wreckers at the moment, going to go down tomarrow morning to get my suspension out. I positive my shocks are fucked, not too sure about my struts, springs are good, nrca's should be good, and proberly just the tie rod ends, either way im not going to use this in my new car anyway so if they are all sweet they will be for sale!

I dunno what to get next, but it proberly wont be a street car, i think ill get anouther ke or ae71 and build it up as a track car.

5th January 2007, 08:03 PM
Man, thats fuked breno.
Real sorry to hear something like this happen to a car that was going to be so good.

Hope you get back on your feet soon man, cause yours was a hot as 4k ke70!!!

Get a red one, they go faster and slide just as good http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

5th January 2007, 11:44 PM
Yeah its sinking in now!
But i have massive plans for my next one, if it all goes right it will be the cleanest and best setup ke in aus http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

6th January 2007, 12:25 AM
good man think big hope it goes well for ya can see ur keen on getting back out there goodluck

6th January 2007, 12:59 AM
Holy crap tough break man! Glad your ok that is a hell nasty bit of damage!

Good luck for the next one mate, I know exactly how scary and open diff can be (which is why mine is now locked)

6th January 2007, 10:14 AM
Man that sucks, hope you back into it soon mate.

6th January 2007, 01:48 PM
ill grab your nrcas off you.

6th January 2007, 05:41 PM
Nah im keeping them, all my shocks were rooted, springs are good, left hand control arm is a ok i think, aswell as the tie rod end, all i could get from the right hand ride was the spring and strut, and im not 100% about the strut.

6th January 2007, 05:51 PM
are the front lights cracked ? if not ill grab em off u

whould u sell the window seals ?

6th January 2007, 06:24 PM
What kinda speed were you doing when you binned it dude?

6th January 2007, 06:42 PM
I still don't have any clue how you can drift it in the dry though.[/b]

speed and hand break

6th January 2007, 06:44 PM
yes is a shame http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif , with a bent chassis like that you must of hit bloody hard!

6th January 2007, 06:45 PM
unlucky dude, proof not to muck around with open centres, i stacked my old t18 plenty of times due to an open centre, but never that bad

good luck with your next one

6th January 2007, 07:22 PM
what kinda of springs you running i might grab them
