Yeah hi.

Had a thread on Old DC, but really couldn't be bothered transferring it over.

Started as a stock '84 KE70 sedan, bottom of the line. Been building for around 3 years on and off, and being at school I don't have a huge income to buy parts. Now that I've got a job, shit's starting to happen.

Anyway, Specs:

Looks like a good package.

Speaking of packages, Greyhound rang me today asking when the package is going to be collected. I think you get about 5 days then they ship it back.

Have a good one.

Picss :P, I'm really interested in your "modified instrument cluster". Do you think you might be able to find some spare time and get some pics of it up on here.
Sounds like a good bit of work, thanks. And keep updates coming.

starni_boy
12th March 2009, 06:21 PM
It's packed away in a box. Basically here:
Get a KE70 Clock dash, take the clock out.
Cut some fibreglass out and lay it in the hole and resin it up.
Get your tacho and cut the hole according to size, the slip it into the hole.

Simple really.

starni_boy
26th March 2009, 04:29 PM
Few things have been bought for it.

-New Ae86 Power Steer arms
-Another grille for the JDM front, so I have one grille with "C" and JAF badge, another with "GT" and "DOHC" badges.
-JDM KE70 fender mirrors (chrome ones)
-LHS JDM tail light, going to get a RHS soon and fix up centre bezel I have here.
-Rear wheel bearings

Rear end ready to go onto the ground, but I am going to wait until Fuel cell is mounted and all fuel lines etc are mounted due to the ease of the rotating frame. Will put the panelvan stock front sussy in just so it can roll around again. ABOUT TIME.

starni_boy
2nd May 2009, 06:22 PM
Yeah so... Not much to update on.

- Still waiting on PS arms, 3 weeks now. Hopefully they turn up soon.
- Injectors turned up from Shakotan Garage and it seems like they will fit into my 20v fuel rail. They're top feed which means I can make a nice polished fuel rail.
- Brake calipers have been painted silver, and will be ready for assembly in a few days after maybe another coat of paint.

No more panel work has been done due to a VERY cramped workspace at the moment.

Its a shell with all panels attached and a diff with funky bits and pieces holding it onto the car.

It's taken me 3 1/2 years to strip a car. Sudden realization that I fail.

starni_boy
29th May 2009, 07:51 PM
Thank god for that.
Sitting on a rim at a self serve wreckers in a puddle about 2 inches deep pulling the Corona rear disks off.

It's done now though, Look like a decent upgrade, drums to lock with the handbrake, disks for pedal. Reseal of calipers, new shoes etc making it all fresh :)

Nah man, I wanna keep it. It looks the goods and is meant to be a decent tacho too. They're on ebay america if you want to buy one.

In other news...
Rear Traction brackets turned up last week thanks to Huw.
Sent an email to streeter regarding cusco parts: Caster arms, drop down swaybar mounts, Caster arm brace and panhard bar.
Spirited Drive has ordered me my T3 add on tri brace, waiting for a pm on when it arrives.

Need to get shielding gas for the welder, and steel to make 4 link channels and my fuel cell mount.
Going to talk to my sheet metal guy about folding some boxes up for me, to cover the fuel cell/fuel setup under the car. Also going to get him to fold up a battery box for me too, then will line the inside with rubber.

Also need to get a sheet cut out to separate the boot from the cabin, due to fumes from petrol.

Weld in half cage or not?

starni_boy
21st March 2010, 02:50 PM
Oh and also, Need suggestion on wheel choice. Something quirky and jap. 14x9 all round i'm thinking. Here's some rim designs I like, Will widen them if I have to....

Here's one idea:
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/2/1/4/40122.jpg (http://img444.imageshack.us/i/hxjkn.jpg/)

Colour is going to be a mazda colour, Like this:
http://webiol.homenetinc.com/stock_images/5/cc_2010MAZ002a_640/cc_2010MAZ002a_640_28W.jpg

Then I'm thinking a canary yellow/baby purple/baby blue rim centre with a polished lip. Or full matte black? Suggestions?

Put a bid on a pair of rims on yahoo also. SSR something-a-rathers, cross between a longchamp and a starshark, should look good especially with a funky coloured centre!

I'd say nay. Although it is very hard to make a clean E7 look dodge just by a colour choice that one could push the limit. If choosing a brown hue there's much more pleasing browns, like the dark metallic factory one for example...

PS: I'm one a laptop screen and the colour doesn't look coffee either so I could be wrong.

Coilovers are done, being sent back to me now. Got some KYB AGX inserts in them too.

There's places in vic that do wheel resto's without worrying about getting it done interstate. I know of neway wheels down the road from my work but if you PM dave on rollaclub (TE278U) he will know of the place out closer your end of the world (which I think makes new outers for 3 piece wheels).
