This place seems to have a few KE/AE 70/71's floating around on it. Its good to see there's lots of love for these boxy beasts. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I've had mine for 2 years now and I haven't done as much as I've wanted to in that time, but I still love the thing. When I first got it, it was stock, had around 64,000km's (now 96,000) on it, no rust and the cleanest interior I've ever seen in a KE70.

Now the only mods it has consist of...

- SW20 MR2 seats
- Pedders SportsRyder springs
- Unknown extractors
- 2.25inch exhaust system
- 15x7 superlites with G3's
- Tint
- Sound bits
- Random sports steering wheel and tacho
- Uh, other stuff...

Things I need to do...

- Get more powah
- Drop it more
- Roll guards
- Paint bonnet black
- Redo interior black
- Fit modified XX tacho dash

Sure the 4K is pretty boring and slow, but its still a fun car to drive. Hasn't caused a problem for me since the day I got it.

I would paint inside of rims black i dont them on my Wed Wheels on the front and it looks much nicer, theres a pic below i painted front wheels.

The interior is perfect lol.....

Just drop it get some shocks paint center of rims black.....mirrors on the fenders...and your sweet.

I nearly went 5K a while ago, but it probably wasn't worth the 5-10hp gain, better to save something that really makes a difference... and seeing as there's a couple of 20v KE70's on here it shouldn't be too hard to get some info on the conversion if I went in that direction. Mine gets to 6,500 or 800 so Justin tells me, I don't want to push it any further yet, maybe when I have a replacement engine to swap in if the 4K decides to shoot bits everywhere.

i couldn't tell that pic was photo shopped at all i thought it was a different car................. until i saw the drivers side mirror, you can see the bottom half of the stalk is missing as in their original location the a pillar cuts it out. still had me fooled for about 5 minutes!

Seeing as the black bonnet craze here has started to die off, the idea of a black bonnet is starting to look alright again. Maybe, maybe not.

Attempting a chin spoiler tomorrow with some ol' lawn edging I got today.

Just scribbled up some ideas on how I'm going to go about it.

Basically, I'll cut it so it looks something like the picture in the top left, and when I start to pop rivet it on, with the bit that curves up on the end the more I bolt that down, the more the spoiler should point up. I may ad a couple of braces towards the middle of the spoiler to help hold up.

i made up 4 aluminium brackets, woulda been around around 3mm thick id say so its easly bendable, around 5-7cms long and around 3cm wide, bent them on the angle i wanted and just pop rivited it there, worked a treat.
That may of not made sense but just incase i will try and draw something up in ms paint.

Back end is currently pretty darn low, just need to get the front sorted, looks pretty stupid at the moment with the front end pointing to the sky.

Plans for the upcoming month or so are...
-Get AE86 struts, fit springs/shocks, put in 'sev.
-Flare guards so I can run the Superlites again.
-Mild cam for the 4K

Aaron for lending me some doors even though I didn't end up using them, gotta get them back to you dude! I left some doritos on Aarons window at the drift prac day a few weeks ago, hence the "Doooritos!" post. Yeah I'm a f--k head, I know.


Popped third gear last week which was a laugh, so unbolted and tossed K40 and slotted in the possibly weaker (from what I've heard) K50, as well as a fresh clutch. (Big props to Kyouteki for the box).

Will probably bust the K50 someday soon, maybe with the motorkhana coming up this Sunday.. but I sorta hope not, as I would like to think it'll last until I get around to pulling the shitter off the road and begin the now pretty common process of placing AE71 bits in a KE70. Then dropping in my rebuilt 4AG that I'm still yet to start rebuilding.

But just looking at the rest of the forum really validates the fact that I am possibly the most slackest prick when it comes to modifying cars. :huh:


The old man is still suggesting to me every now and then to put a new Hilux motor in the thing. Would be a laugh. But if I'm struggling to find time to do the 4A conversion, there is no way in hell a 1GR-FE will find its way into the 'sev. *

*... and just before any hero saddles up on his trusty and noble ranting steed, to go on about how silly or pointless a KE70 + 1GR-FE conversion could and may be, I really-really-really-really ra-heeeeally couldn't give a shit, so don't bother. Thanks.

Is the 4k really worth putting extractors and an exhaust on? I just purchased a keto, and really cannot be bothered puting in a 4A-GE before i sell it again. Much of a power increase? if any? Centerlines are on the rear again to prevent scrubbage until I get the guards done.

Also, Classic 65's are easily the coolest tyre in the world, not only do they pull a fet sked, they smoke hard and wear just as hard...

Oh and I guess the Adrenalines are alright too... haha nah, haven't been able to push them very hard yet but so far they've felt great. As for the Koings, I'm massively chuffed with them, far lighter than the superlites and very well made, I didn't bother balancing them when I was fitting the tyres as I was in a rush but I don't think they would even need balancing, drive smooth as on the road.

if so you won't need covers, the teflon race wipes the ball clean and allows ZERO contaminants between spherical bearing and race. if its another lower spec joint, use covers. i hear you can make them using balloons ;) put it on like a dom and nick 2 holes in the sides to put the bolt through, by nicking samll holes in the balloon they can seal tight on the misalignment spacer (bit the bolt goes through)
