I thought I might put up some pics of my race car. Mid last year I had a pretty big accident and the shell was a complete write off.
this is the old girl before the crash

Thanks... it was a nice car, not quite as good as I wanted it but hey...... maybe this one will be.

then the build began. first strip it back to a shell, and get rid of all the old parts, many AE86DC cars have the parts from this girl.

and strip the sound proofing, and all that isnt needed. to get it ready for the cage.

Roll cage was fitted, and this is about as far as I have got now. I have a long way to go but I will keep this up to date as we go.

damn. crazy hit.

bit off topic. whats the specs on the panasports on the rear of the car?

3sglevin
15th March 2006, 03:29 PM
Yeah I was stalled on the start line (the crank angle sensor failed) so the engine just cut out. and a guy from a few rows back couldnt avoid me, it was alot like watching dominos in the rear view mirror, as each car avoided me....... well till I got hit. He tried hard to miss me. He was into third gear at the time, we think he was doing over 100 when he hit me.

The wheels are Panasports 14x7.

Hey GUys I had a little more progress on the weekend, I have put the race springs in the rear and had the gards rolled, I have to put up a pic as it is pretty funny looking with the ride hight at the back set and the standard front suspension in, looks like it has hydralics haha!

I also have finished off the pedal box and got the fuel tank mounted, slow progress id being made.[attachment=2472:attachment][attachment=2473:attachment]

Hey Guy's I got some more done on the weekend, trying to renovate a house and build a car takes alot more time then I would like http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/rant.gif Anyway so i have got the engine and gearbox in and mounted, some small adjustments to the tunnel had to be made so the thing would have clearance here and there, but overall it wasnt too bad. I managed to get the front Suspension back in aswel.
It is a tight fit as the engine is as far back in the bay as I can get it (well as far as our rules will allow) I have also mounted it quite low, dew to the fact this engine is dry sumped it lets me get the crank alot lower in the car then a wet sump would. All these mounts where in the old car so I know it all fits.[attachment=3436:attachment]

what lap times were you getting it looked almost as fast as our aussi race car

3sglevin
26th February 2008, 09:25 AM
Hey man, yeah look we sort of put a watch on it but it wasnt great haha. I was having brake issues, thats whjy i am getting off it so early before the kink. I have to sort that all out and go back have another shot at it. We also didnt have the right tyres on it so we will whack them on and have another go. That day was more about a shake down and bedding in the brakes and making sure it didn't fall apart it hung in there so now we have to try and make her fast. The front runners in my class do about 1.18's and thats pretty quick, I don't know we will make it that fast, but we will try

Gavin
26th February 2008, 05:42 PM
thats fast as our aussi car's were around the 1:20 mark

Yeah thats as fast as I have been 1.20.0 but the pace is alot quicker now, I don't think I will be able to get near the good guys times, but we will try as hard as we can.

Man I posted some specs before but no one seemed that interested so i don't think i could be bothered to redo it all. Maybe if I find some spare time I might.
