whats up with the dump pipe? did it used to be turbo?

rb_sil80
19th March 2006, 06:59 PM
haha good eye, yea it used to be turbo, my mate bought the turbo gear off it, the current motor has never been run with the turbo on it though so its all good.

i mean if the motor blows up i can get another one for 600 bucks anyways so i dont really care.

im thinking im going to need a braided clutch line for it also becasue its better to be safe than sorry!

car wont start

has spark, theres fuel getting to the rail, dont know about the injectors yet, its got 1jzgte injectors, could they be flooding it? or it might be timing? it kicks over a coughs but doesnt start

any ideas?

I'd be thinking 1J injectors would be a bit of overkill man... Trying some stock 20V injectors would be the first thing you should try.

nah itll start with 1jz injectors
itll run fat but itll run

first check fuel and spark
if you have these two things
move to second step
check your base timing
it should be 15 before tdc

if it still wont run, check your cam timing
wind the car to TDC on the crank pulley (check its not bottom dead centre by taking out number 1 spark plug and feeling with a screw driver that the piston is at the top. line the notch in the crank pulley up with the zero on the cam belt cover, then check that the dots on the cam gears line up with the notches above them on the plate behind the cam gears!

yeah. you should be able to hear the injectors clicking.

Not running yet, going to get sideshow to come out and have a look at the car.

the dizzy hasnt been removed as far as i know so it should still be in the same spec as it came out of the frontcut.

taking out the dizzy means taking out the motor because there isnt enough room to remove it, it was a pain in the arse jsut undoing the bolt to adjust the timing but that still didng work.

we'll see how i go on sunday hopefully ill get it running. if not, engine crane and ill pull the bitch out and start from scratch! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif which i dont want to do becasue i jsut want it running!

With many thanks to Sideshow the car is started now! were not exactly sure what the problem was but oh well, with jsut the extractors and trumpets it sounds fucken MEAN!

all i have to do is get my braided clutch line remade because they put the wrong fitting on it and i can drive it down to the exhaust shop!

car needs a tune pretty badly as it doesnt idle by itself, also need a new battery which im going to go and buy now http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

pics and vid once i can someone to video it while i hold the throttle open...

More parts to take pics of when i can be bothered, JDM calipers and my JDM disc brake rear end.

still waiting on my RDA slotted rotors from Dave as well as my brake pads.

car is down at the exhaust shop currently getting the headers hooked up to the rest of the system and i will most likely get it tuned there too by a guy named Dale?

Keep you guys posted. I raised hell driving it thru my neighbourhood thats one thing for sure, the car was sooooo loud i LOVED it but i have a headache to pay the price http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

Quick Update

Car has the exhaust fitted, 2 1/4 from extractors back, 2 1/4 hiflow cat and a 2 1/2 resonator that joins to the old 2 1/2 remainder of the exhaust that goes over the diff and stuff.

not loud at all has a nice tone, might need a new muffler soonish but its pretty sweet.

had also been semi tuned - dale did a half job atm cause one of my leads were fucked, so i got some custom magnacoils, cost me $150! and some new plugs casue my $70 platniums got fouled up! GGGRRRRRRR

jsut going cheapos this time! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Got the car back

Just gotta say, Dale is a fucking genuis! car made 90rwkw on fouled plugs and shitty fuel. took it for a bit of a boot around (ran out of petrol in the process!) and the car fucking screams!

cant wait to get it registered! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

whats the silver box on the right hand side of the bay? also unless my eyes are decieving me are you missing the alternantor top bracket? car looks awesome makes me want to put my engine covers back on!!

rb_sil80
5th April 2006, 05:32 PM
u mean on the drivers side? thats my surge tank.

yea not using the top bracket, alternator stays where it is without any hassels, the VVTI actuator actually prevents it from moving anywhere haha.

Gilly
5th April 2006, 05:55 PM
LOL!! thank god for vvti then hey!! engine looks sweet they look so much better when you do them properly and don't cut corners like i did!!
