We know Chris O has had much success in his trusty Levin GT in QLD IPRA for many years. Maybe he can add some pics and vids from his recent outing at Bathurst for the WPS 12hr Shannons Nationals Round? Awesome to see AE86 going up Skyline and through The Cutting again!

Anyway thought I'd throw up some pics of Chris Brown in action at Mallala.
mmm flames out the side pipe. and night shot shows 'Lala is hard on brakes.

theres also the yager built one that im pretty sure KE25 racer just bought. runs a built BEAMS.

i entertain the thought of one day building an IP 86. but im still not convinced a ke couldnt be a better option.

lighter, stiffer and i dont know the speeds IP dudes run at that the aero would make any difference?

still we should probably keep that debate out of this thread :) corollas are clearly an awesome choice for an IP car.

i think you could build a fairly simple motor and maybe be on pace, especially seeing as chris has moved on from the 1600cc class.

a carefully assembled tall block black top with just some sizable cams could be on pace i reckon.

Hi All, been a fair while since ive been on here… pretty much left it all when the boards changed over.

Just a quick post to share some video's and a few pics from the recent Bathurst 12hour event where Improved Production managed to get a go as a support category.

Qual Session part 2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra45j21Sees

We made a diff change after the qual session and found another 10k top end down Conrod.. she was maxed out in 5th 9200 228k...

I had an absolute blast... and cant wait to go back in 2010 if IPRA get another invite

thanks to Clemmo for letting me know that people were keen to see vids & pics from Bathurst

Thanks for the input Chris! quick side question: was your car previously owned by Stephen Toth? like in the early 90's - curious because livery looked identical to yours in the early days (TTA style) and the number was also #61.

Hi Mate, no the car was built up from scratch 11 years ago by me.

Yes it started life in TTA Colours. I built it up to be a replica initially

Steve's is still in his shed sitting pretty. Be nice to see that one when its done

Bathurst pics look awesome. Nice choice of wheels. I have the Volk Rays 20 fin wheels also, but only 14s.

The bathurst pic with the escort is killer.

A good addition to this thread may be the rules regarding ipra eligible mods.

Nope, no firewall mods - IPRA (3J) originally started with the idea that street registered cars could compete, so the rules are reasonably tight. I personally think they are a good balance between ingenuity and keeping costs reasonable

Your car would most likely be classed as a Sports Sedan i'd say?

oh look, a car up in the pointy field of IPRA and its not slammed i bet its not overly stiff either. oh and it has less camber than my road driven corolla. Must not handle or be totally awesome sick...

munki
6th April 2009, 08:22 PM
true but look at the tyres, 4 deg neg camber on road tyres is worlds apart from race semis/slicks

Spotto in that video: Leigh Forrest from Hobart in the yellow Celica? 3S-GTE.

That Levin keeps up with the field well! It is the car I am building mine to be like, if there is any.

I saw that too. Don't know who he is, but that thing is quick down the straights.
Chris seems to keep up at the top of the mountain though.
I really enjoyed that footage...

super sedans it is

9th April 2009, 08:11 PM
the problem with 'super sedans' is you start to mix it up with the big money boys,

think ex v8 supercar's with ls2's, ex european touring cars modded beyond their formulas in order to be competitive.

matt mead

IPRA is hardly cheap to be competitive. The guy who won at bathurst was pretty much in an AU falcon v8 supercar on semi slicks.

Wrong... :soldier:

Its a BF, built completely from the ground up (by the owner, here in TAS) to race solely in IPRA. It is one of the most impressive cars I've ever seen, and yes a far cry from most of the feild, but motorsport has always and will always be a case of he who spends the most will have an advantage.

It will be interesting to see how he goes at Phillip Island for the nationals. I know Newman is getting a big HP Rousch motorsport engine for his AU.

Just a question for you guys running toyotas in IPRA, would you recommend running a 4ag in the U1600 class, or a turbo 4agze in U3000? I want to have a go at competing in my car when it's done, But not sure if i should build up my current engine, or sell it and get a 20v

Now that life is settling down again im looking at getting back out there in the next 6 months.

Mine has a miniscule amount of the development which Chris and the others have.

2000cc seems to be where it's happening now. 3SGE or a tricky 4/5/6/7AGE?

Depends if you want to run outright(try and run at front) or are happy running mid field(but still maybe winning under 1600cc class)
