Bought a ricey catch can today, keep me occupied with something.
Next is wheels, hopefully. Then maybe an oil cooler, to yet again keep me occupied.

Has the car been resprayed or is it the original toyota red?

Dish
18th April 2006, 09:16 PM
Original, appears to be all original paint. No respray marks, or any areas that are dull compared to other areas apart from the obvious covered/uncovered areas. Has little orange peel type cracks in the paint, but other than that it doesn't look too bad.

Understeers a bit, but not as much as you'd think, I also have 70 profile tyres on the car, so there'd be a fair bit of tyre flex. Quite happily takes a tight corner at speed and spins the rear wheel. But yeah, wouldn't mind getting a rear swaybar but funds are limited while I'm looking for wheels.

Picked up some 15x7 meshies off Henry (Silent drifter) off this forum today. Great guy to deal with.

One pair are 15x7 + 13 silver SSR reverse Mesh
The others are 15x7 +14 black Rays/volk mesh
and also grabbed a stock rear swaybar off daz86 off this forum.
Few pics.

First picture is annoying me, wont load to full size.

By the way, before you label me a wanna-be drifter for having stockies on the back http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif , I can't put the black meshies on, there's a washer on my wheelnuts that wont fit in the holes. So I've gotta get some other wheelnuts. I discovered this after a 5 minute fight with the stock scissor jack to get the ass up only for them to not fit on.

Going to weld up a new exhaust tip soon, then I will be pretty happy with the car over-all untill I get some more money together and that will probably go on coil-overs and a few other things.

Will maybe get some good new pics up soon, had the perfect opportunity today but didn't have a camera on me.

Discovered a flange just before the muffler on my exhaust while lining up my rear swaybar.

Thought I'd be cool and take the muffler of, remembering I have a pretty damn straight through 2.25" exhaust, consisting of TRD 4-2-1 extractors, hi-flowed cat and the muffler at the rear which was removed. It honestly scared the shit outta me when I revved it. Even on idle was deafening. Anyone else with this type of exhaust, I advise you to be wary of the sound, but give it a go anyways http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Everything else is fine, I hope. I chucked my stockies back on, dunno why. But it didn't really wanna drive last night, but was driving fine after I happened to slide over the gutter.

*Edit: Found out why my car didn't particularly want to move when I threw my stockies back on. With my 33mm RCA's in the grease nipple thing for the ball joint was scraping on the inside of the rim, I snapped one off and the other looks like it's about to be snapped off.*

how did you go with removing the stock old rubber brake lines?

mine are a downright bastards, and I'm yet to have any form of success with removing them

17mm spanner on the caliper end and I can't remember on the other end, 10mm or something, Was pretty easy. Whether mine aren't seized like yours or what, but they weren't hard.

Try some CRC? Big hammer could work :P

Noltec Adjustable panhard rod (Which is seized on one of the sides, so you still have to pull it off to adjust)[/b]

That makes it 3 I know of so far that have a stuck turn buckle. Mine was terrible, stuck both sides. Finally got it loose to find lots of swarf that had got stuck on the thread aswell as rust on the thread (as i can see on your pic too). The other was a little better than mine (less force required) but all good now.

Quality control must be non existant at noltec lol :)

Yeah not happy about it. Just gonna try get some crc onto it and put lots of force on it to release the other side.

Zing, car feels million times better with the new gear. Just waiting on superlites with tyres and RS 2way coming soon.

I've been on one point for ages about 10 months, got done on Tuesday with a defect for excessive exhaust emissions, bald right rear tyre and no horn button. So now the motors gotta be pulled down cause she blows a little bit of smoke.

Also yesterday morning heading to work copped 3 points and $250, so license is well and truelly gone x 2 now.

So if I take the 3 months a few things might happen with this car, hopefully tax money will help :D

Just a couple pictures of what I started with from D. They were pretty bad, finish wise. Took them all the way back and re-primed and filled. 99.99% straight now. RHS still needs some work, but happy with them for now.

It was the whole effort thing. Just couldn't be bothered. I couldve pulled the whole guard off and done it but I didn't bother, just left it on in it's natural state and taped around.
