G'day...

I have been accumulating parts since I got my first sprinter in 1990,(yes, I'm an old bastard!!!)
my last car was sold in 1998...

I has since acquired a shell (thanks Josh) and have finally got my shit together to get it built enough, hopefully in time for the September drift day at Symmons Plains....

Plans I have for this include installing my old 4age with quads and aftermarket injection, lsd etc...

These are pics of what I have started with:

G'day...

Finally got it out on the track at Symmons yesterday for a drift practice...

Had a great time, drove like an old mole and laughed my head off on every spin... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

It was a great way to shake the the car down and find where things need to be improved and fixed..

Developed a massive split in the radiator after three laps and had overheating issues the rest of the day - this was no biggie tho' -came in after every three laps to top up with water and went back out again..

Next things to do are : Recore radiator, better suspension and a few other little things...

Big thanks to the Nissan Silvia boys for organising a great day and to Brett, Ashley and his brother for the push starts in the pits when the battery stopped charging http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

G'day...

A bit of engine porn for Easter...oh yeah..happy easter!!

Had a chance over the last couple of days to get..head planed..new headgasket and QUADS!!! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

Quads are only sitting in place atm..hope to have this going again by Tuesday (Famous last words)

Between working between another farm and here I've managed a break of sorts..what better way to spend it than in the shed with beers and snacks!!!

Things to do..

Reinstall fuel lines , install power FC (Easy with a plug in), Sort vacuum lines , find a bolt to plug fuel rail where cold st. inj. was, put new radiator in and ................................holy shit batman we've got a screamer!!!!!!!!!

Might give the old girl a bit of a spit and polish as well if she's lucky..........the car may get a clean also

I'm just going off of what a 4ag claimed to be making in japan, this has the same if not a bit more compression aswell as some other better bits.

due to our lower quality fuel it would have to be tuned a bit richer but still it shouldnt be any less than 200hp if the power figure listed is accurate.

if scott will let me should have some porn quality engine pics tomorrow night.

Had a stupid F up yesterday, (Shh - Aaron..) not going to be disclosed here, and then.....

Got this going today....yay...running on standard cams and manifolds until it is run in (and my balls grow bigger :teehee: )
then newcams, quads and custom long primary extractors...

Still got a few issues to sort, the least of which is my shitful wheel alignment - massive toe out atm lol (due to ps arms)

Gave it a short run up the road and it runs sweet...nice to have a motor with absolutely no oil leaks :2thumbs:

lol, lesson 1...never believe japanese claimed figures....majority of them are claimed and none are proven with dyno results etc

josh young had a very similar built engine at one stage i believe and was "only" making 160hp ish....

not saying it wont make that kind of power, but id certainly be suprised if it did and I'm one of the many that are very keen to see this thing

ae71
14th April 2008, 09:33 PM
that's a fair call, i cannot confirm the power figures that where listed in the magazine, i was coming from the point of view that this motor should make more hp considering the specs listed on this other 4ag, if you wish to see the artical delazy feel free to PM me and ill PM you a scanned copy. even with the rather conservative compression it will be more than enough to cause occasional brown undies moments. I'm quite currious to see what it does on the dyno when it goes into be tuned, i don't think it will need to be much to get a 950~kg car moving.

the main idea behind building the motor, was to make a strong motor thats fun and will last quite a bit of thrashing. all parts that are considered weak have been replace perhaps the weakest link in the whole motor would be the crank. once run-in the bonnet wont need to be lifted until the next oil change sort of thing.

hand controller FTW!

So far my JDM kouki disc - disc rear end has required new calipers (ones supplied were stuffed and missing bits), hand brake cables and new bearings through out...(Rather than being a little bitch about this I will take it up with the person involved)

Kaaz 1.5 way centre has been installed, but needed new bearings through out , cost $310...Tas Driveline Services.. :2thumbs:

Fckn camera is playing up again...pics of Star Sharks soon...standby for another buildup/assembly of a drift pig...(KE3X ftw lol)

Hi guys...

In hindsight it is probably a good thing I repleced all bearings, cheap insurance...

I have decided to take my issues up with the person involved rather than start a slanging match on this forum...

New springs should be here soon for the back, and am ordering a full set of poly bushes for the whole car.. :2thumbs:

Scott

Thankfully my motor still looks standard...lol

Just about every copper around here has so far pulled me over and had a look under the hood for a non-standard motor...hahaha

Next round of mods to commence now...

Full set of poly bushes to go in, LSD and disc rear goodness, and a special gearbox..

Once sorted the cams and quads will go in...yay...just need to get used to the handling abiltities of the car first before adding more power..

Enjoy..

scott we know you love your cows... but... yeah. lol

actually got a solo piolet of this thing before further upgrade began a few days ago.

brakes A1! susy not too bad but needs better steer tyres are it does understeer a little too much, or more front track. motor needs cams and higher rev limit.. very narrow power band compared to 4ac. it wants to really fly but current cams wont let it. clutch is insanely bitey and the light trd flywheel and well balanced bottom end makes it really responsive even with a standard inlet manifold. the real down fall is the slopped out seat, the back rest rotates by about 30degrees which is really off putting. all up tho its a really fun little machine to drive, the way a sprinter is ment to be.

Rightio...

Upgrades completed...

New bushes throughout..prothane...

Another non whiney T50..lol

New diff installed and adjustable whiteline sway bar..

Just got back from a test drive...much more responsive now, nearly got my passenger to throw up lol.. :teehee: :2thumbs:

One thing that I have noticed is now that the speedo works and computer is getting a spd signal, it wants to pull higher into the revs... :2thumbs:

Scott

Nearly forgot...I ordered a shiny buch of bananas to go with the quads(thanks Delazy)...five weeks away or thereabouts...

Once the new bits are here, quads cams and a tune are to happen...

Till then, plenty of hills runs...
