Here's my KE55 sedan with AE101 4A-GZE. I'm slowly improving her and turning her into a proper race car.

At this stage I'm organising a set of swaybars & bushes to be sent up. I have some Bendix Ultimate brake pads waiting to be installed, as well as a tacho (the only currently working gauge is my fuel gauge). Next on the list is to lower the car or lower the car and improve the brakes using the Corona strut conversion. It depends on how impatient I get and how much cash I've got on hand to do it with.

Here's a couple of ideas of how I'd like her to look:

Interesting look. It's certainly different. Needs more negative camber though. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif:

I'm actually thinking about going black all around the bottom now. I'll whip up a picture and post it in a sec.

Here's a (very) rough version of what I intend to end up doing:

They're 15x7.0's.

Was originally going to see how much I could get out of the GZE, but am now thinking that a turbo will be the way to go. I'm going to get the suspension & brakes done first, then look into something like a GT28 turbo. For now I'm going to do the ABV mod though, should get about 13.5psi at 7500rpm, up to about 14.9psi when I get the redline reset to 8200rpm.

Just picked up Whiteline front & rear swaybars and an almost complete set of SuperPro bushes (not entirely sure which ones are missing yet). Should be interesting to see what effect they have. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Homemade drift button? So what, every time you hit the button you drift???

Don't worry, just read another thread and worked out what you meant. Does it mean that your handbrake won't lock in the up position now, or is it simply a bigger button so it's easier to pull on and off?

how much (roughly) would a fully banger but road worthy one of these set me back?

If you're referring to the cost of building a KE55 with a 4A-GZE, I can't tell you for certain as I didn't build it or have it built. I spoke to the mechanic who built it for the original owner, and supposedly the owner put about $15,000 into the car. I don't know where though. I paid $1,500 for the car.

Put it this way, an engine package will set you back about $1,500-2,000. A Microtech ECU will be about another $1,500. A good KE55 shell could be had for $500 maximum. Plus you'll need a T50 with bellhousing from an AE86 (the bellhousing, not necessarily the gearbox). Currently they go for about $500. Oh yeah, a custom tailshaft would also be required, let's say that's about $200. So that's $4,700 plus labour by my calculations.

Just bought a pair of S5 RX7 front brake calipers. Now when I get some Peugeot discs and a Hilux master cylinder my lap times should drop rather significantly. May end up using my current front calipers (standard KE55) for a rear disc setup, provided I can find an appropriate rear disc & handbrake setup. Will be great for chasing down a certain blue turbo 20v AE86 that lives up here.

Haven't updated in ages. Just got the car back from being dyno tuned. She's got 87kW at the wheels, which is pretty good for a stock 4A-GZE. I plan on doing the ABV mod as soon as we can get the car idling properly, which it's not yet doing. Since my last update I've got my hands on a set of bigport cams. I may or may not end up using these, as I'm also negotiating to get a bigport head. If I succeed in doing so, I'll be getting it ported and polished, along with some big valves, so I may as well get the aftermarket cams I have in mind at the same time. Will also use a thinner, 0.6mm metal head gasket at the same time to bump the compression up a bit. With the ABV mod I'll only be making 14psi max, so it won't be an issue in any way.

Just did a 1min 34.94sec lap time at Hidden Valley on Sunday. Well and truly beat my previous best (in that car) of 1min 39.5sec. Would have been slightly quicker again on another lap but had some power issues just before crossing the line.
