View Full Version : RANT: Other people on street...

I'm a real grandpa on the streets, and the only time I EVER get on the loud pedal is merging onto the hwy.

Yet I am everyday getting harrased by other drivers when they pull up beside me. I have had utes, vans, family cars FWDs you name it, trying to "slide" their cars infront of me.

I'm getting quite fed up of it because quite frankly, I'm not into drift at all, have nothing against it, but these people are being extremly dangerous when they are doing it to get my attention on the street.

Last night took the G/F out for coffee and on the way back home at an intersection where there where 2 lanes to turn right, I was in the left minding my own business talking cod shit to the G/F and commodore pulls up in the right lane to turn right and starts trying to get my attention by the usual revving and foot on brake and accel stalling it up.

So lights turn green to turn right and car in front of me takes off normally as I do too, wanker just puts the boot into it mid corner and almost takes out the family car that had children inside that was in front of me. I was left like this http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif a power oversteer that lost control big time.

I get this almost every day..... do you guys get this shit too?

This reminds me of something that happened to Beau Yates ages ago.

He said he was driving along in his hachi with a truck driving behind him as he starts to pull up at a red light some other over enthusiastic hachi driver speeds up to overtake the truck so they can pull up behind Beau (presumably they recognised him). The problem was Beau was stopped at the red light, the other hachi driver having sped up to overtake the truck is going too fast to stop (especially with the truck now bearing down on him) and he locked it up, so Beau had to floor it through the red light to avoid a collision. The other hachi comes to a stop about half a car length in front of where the front of Beau's car had been. So if Beau hadn't gone through the red light both hachi's would have been written off for sure. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

Thing is I chose to ignore him like I do to every other idiot that does it, don't give praise to someone sliding all over the road, or laying rubber down... whatever....

Yet people insist on being wreckless while looking back for like approval or a thumbs up from me or something.

I've actually been having impure thoughts and actually selling up due to the image this car portrays. If I had envisioned this shit happening 4-5 years ago when I first got it..... I would have seriously reconsidered my purchase.

even in my fwd daily rolla bogans slide in front of me, best thing i have seen was
2 lanes turning right, i was in right lane and commordore person in left lane, lights go green, mid corner, bogan steps on throttle but as they do lol one wheel spun so he went straight and luckily for him he went up a driveway no straight into the kerb, i also waited so i could laugh at him. lol[/b]

one day i was coming home from school with 3 mates in my 4ac sprinter, and this guy in a R31 was following me pretty closely so on the way home to drop my mates of i was just being quick thru the roundabouts etc. so then i turned off this sort of main road, blind corner by the way so u cant see the other traffic, so the guy follows me, and seriously has the 31 in the other lane almost spun out sideways, me and my mates just laugh at how cool he THINKS he is http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif but in reality had no control and could have possibly kill some1 DUMBASS

this other time coming back home thru blackwood with a mate this crazy silver and black car started to follow me like crazy thru some twisties, i think it could have even been a hachi? http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

mayb i should start a poll just to see how many times people have offered/ sent letters/ talked to u at the lights/ left notes on ur car seeing if u want to sell? i dont know if it's more for me because where i work, but people r often asking "is that ur sprinter/ AE86/ sprintAH?"

also is it just me, whenever u pull up some where there are teens or people near silvias, skyline or even ricers etc u start hearing whispers of "sprinterrrr, coooool, driiiiiift"

To play the devils advocate!!!
I often find myself putting my foot down when i see cars i like.
I love to play with other cars through the twisties, traffic light runs etc (OF COURSE ON A RACE TRACK...)
I hate some cars, love others, and i find myself getting excited all the time 'playing' with other cars.

Sorry if you hate me for it, but it puts a smile on my face every time.

Thats not to say i do senseless, stupid, dangerous things. I know what i can do, what my car can do, when its safe and when its not.

Gee, I didn't know other sprinter owners were so sensitive about owning a sprinter..

I guess from now on when I see another sprinter owner, I won't give them the wave and a rev! they might think im trying to doorifto

But seriously it's not that bad..

I really doubt these people are only doing this stuff around you .. soon enough they'll do it around someone who has red n blue neons and be in some trouble..

i dont get people acting up because of the car i drive, i find they just act up anyway because they are all cooked.

when i see a nice car i will try to acknowledge it by giving thumbs up or whatever, but not do anything thing stupid like race it or slide infront of it or some shit.

i do occaisionally bust out a power-oversteer slide (pre entry on the street/with other cars around = bad) in the rain or something but it is purely for my enjoyment and not to show off. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

hm i had a new merc follow me for like an hour, from the city to dandenongish area once, maybe he thought he was going to see some madcore drifting?

after i took some backstreets and he kept following, i did a u-turn at a roundabout and drove straight at him (gotta love chicken eh, $1000 sprinter vs $100,000+ merc) after that he just vanished, maybe he was a ninja? hm.

weird.

actually that reminds me of another thing (sorry to double post http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

i was going home from a security thing once, and had this guy in a car next to me (i forget what it was, but it was rather nice) asked me if I'd sell my car, I said no. He said "how much would you if you were gonna sell it?" and I told him "with the twincam engine and all, probably around 2 grand" and he offered me 5!! on the spot!

But I said no..

I hope this guy is reading this forum, he must have an awesome ae86 by now.. and of course, then I would have proof that this did actually happen! some people dont' believe http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

WTF??? 3 hours.... I could possibly understand this when fuel was cheap but god damn!

BTW.... its not just young people doing this shit in front of me, I am also talking about guys in their mid to late 30s in trayback (Povo pack) falcon utes in the residential estate I am living atm. Then residents are watering their gardens or walking with their children on the footpath and automatically think its me......

Little Jon
16th May 2006, 08:06 PM
i had a late model commorode ute next to me on the highway, he came up and the passenger was litterally hanging out the window yelling about how ghey my rice box was!

when the passenger re composed himself, the driver blipped the throttle numerous times trying to get me to race him...

of course i didnt, it would have been hachi death!

Jessi
26th May 2006, 09:52 AM
I have shit like old hyandai's and geminis and shit try to race me.. i have commodores telling me that hachis are gay coz 'they only smoke up around corners, not on a flat bit of road like a "REAL" car does' but the usual is sitting at lights and seeing a car in the lane next to me maybe one car ahead being all "oh my god its a sprinter, man its a sprinter, i love sprinters, holy shit is that a chick driving''

JoshKE
26th May 2006, 12:37 PM
To be honest I wish I could relate experiences about driving my hachi... but I haven't driven it around yet http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

As for the Z, I get heaps of that crap too, I used to get worked up about it, but now I couldn't care less. The only time I'll bother with a traffic light duel is if I am honestly interested which car will win, hence the last time I did it was about 6 months ago...

freakin commodore overtakes me on this very semi twisty road, goes out of his way to do it (crossing double lines) then he does 60 or so through the 70 k corners (that, i must confess, do enjoy a bit of speed along, being completely deserted at night.

so anyway, it comes to a road where you gotta stop, we do, we're both hooning along, and there's parked cars on the left (he's on the left im on the right) and we're neck and neck .. he has no indication that he's gonna brake.. part of me wanted to just keep going, but the older wiser part braked, let him go ahead, then tailgated for a bit, ha.

funniest experience ive had in my car was a few weeks after i bought it,
had a cop following me for a while (thought he was going to pull me over for sure).
untill i pull up at a red arrow turning right. at this point the cop is a car behind me.
the driver of the car infront of me waiting at the lights notices me and begins to give his purple VH commodore a bit of a rev.
this guy obviosly didnt notice the cop car 1 car behind me
as the light goes green he begins his manditory one wheels burnout take off, as he turns for a u turn lights up the other wheel and spins it round pretty much right in front of the cop.
see comodores are good for alot of things like diverting unwanted attention, actually its just the idiots that drive em.

while i dont have a sprinter i do have a similar story about bogans in commonwhores...

pulled up at a set of lights behind one in the left hand lane, another one pulls up in the right and they both give it some revs, cop pulls up behind in a MARKED cop 4wd.. like the big ones u cant miss http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif, light goes green and they both take off smoking wheels, the cop just sat and waited for about 5 secs, most probably trying to work out if they were really that dumb, threw the lights on and off he went.

was classic to see

Lately i have had the pleasure of smoking out GTR's.

For some reason i get GTR's pull up next to me or tail gate my ass till i pretend to drag them......generally goes like this.

I rev, then smash off cause they think im trying to drag them, i then go past once i catch up and they slow down laughing and shaking my head i then sit infront of them and dont let them past as the fumes from my running rich 20v burn there eyes.

I mean how sad do u have to be to race a NA 4AGE engine in a RB26DETT powered car.
