Get it naked!!!

Strip it good, worth what 300kw?

Sounds like a great build up!

15th May 2006, 04:21 PM
rose joints - basically a solid mounting of a suspension link with the ball bearing joint, also makes it adjustable

its not THAT drift spec, but yeah i prolly will strip it at some stage

the weber goes fucking sick for a 4ac, still slow tho lol

yes its a 4ac turbo, built in preparation for the DA round at mallala.

so cool http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

25th May 2006, 12:21 PM
lol should last a while thos 4ac's are strong as anything haha

25th May 2006, 02:01 PM
yeah, it took 2 days to get running, no fucking around

it is a 'j-pipe' turbo set up (off the bottom of the headers, no turbo manifold here!)

it is running a hitachi turbo off a late cosmo (1 of the 2 off the cosmo)

it runs a 3 inch exhaust stopping before the diff

and a sigma zenith carby

it is suck through and it is VERY responsive

it is still pinging up the very top, but a few litres of sunoco 120octane should fix that ($7 a litre)

the car has been totally transformed, and now throttle slides so easily

stripping the interior etc today, rigging up an air filter and a larger radiator and she should be sweet

i have 2 spare motors, and if it blows a headgasket it will get a copper one made up, but should be reliable on 8psi

cant wait for the weekend!!!11111

the car owes me

$1000 car
$1000 susp
$100 steering
$200 wheels
$600 turbo kit

pics soon!

25th May 2006, 02:59 PM

25th May 2006, 05:43 PM
ill give him a run. lol

see you at the track f00l

25th May 2006, 05:51 PM
Good Luck Dave, stick it to them on the week end, my pick is that you will finish top 10.

26th May 2006, 01:52 PM
thanks for the support guys

we finally hooked a boost guage up to work out why it was pinging high in the revs it was running 20psi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

the boost kept rising through the rev range,

obviously a 4ac isnt going to last long on 20psi so...

it was driving like a bit of a pig, as it had all of its timing taken out of it, but massive boost...

it is now running 10psi max, and lots more timing, no more pinging, and so much smoother and drivable

as for big port vs this - big port would be left well and truly for dead, it would be at least as quick as a super charged car and damn near as responsive

guards are being flared atm, sound deadner straight after then wheel alignment

see you out there, come say hi!!111

26th May 2006, 02:12 PM

29th May 2006, 07:14 PM
draw backs of the set up are

very hard to drive at 5km/ph, sucks fuel (running rich safe spec), takes a while to warm up, not legal

other than that i love it

3rd June 2006, 09:00 PM
i got a st162 twin core rad today to stop the overheating issues when it is getting the shit caned out of it
and also an ae92 oil cooler

im organising a full cage when funds allow

4th June 2006, 12:31 AM

What size tyres are those on the soupra mags?

4th June 2006, 11:54 AM
i got a st162 twin core rad today to stop the overheating issues when it is getting the shit caned out of it
and also an ae92 oil cooler

im organising a full cage when funds allow[/b]

how bad were u over heating????? i seen u had a spare radiator sittin behind ur car in tha shed.

4th June 2006, 06:47 PM
i was overheating bad, so i upgraded

the tyres are 185/60/14s all round at the moment

althought they also see 185/55/14 and 175/60,

im seriously considering 15s on the front

19th June 2006, 01:25 PM
heaps of work done during the week, all is sweet

got the air filter on, all the oil plugs are wired to the body, put my jdm tyt3 fender mirrors on for a wank, bucket seat, some more interior stripping

once again big ups to mark at madaz for his professional work!

i took it out to mallala on the weekend (grip day thing), great fun, even more so that drift

the brakes held up well but i will be putting slotted and vented rotors on it at some stage

it also needs some more neg camber, but everything else felt good, cant wait to get a cage tho!

it did a 1.33.16 (old semi slicks on front and old street tyres on rear and 0.4 bar of boost) around mallala, not happy with that until i get 1.29.99, which i should be able to do no worries on the new motor, and a few susp tweaks (very twitchy drift set up)

the motor is still running strong but it is blowing some smoke

UPDATE: as it is blowing a bit of smoke and is down on compression on 3rd cylinder

we are going to rebuild it before G1 so it doesnt let us down...

rebuild as follows:

ACL pistons and rings +1mm
ACL/Monotorque head gasket (stock size to retain comp)
New bearings
Maybe a new stud kit

and to keep with the ghetto theme

cam regrind
dremel head port

0.8 bar of boost. with a nice broad torquey power band

19th June 2006, 02:48 PM
some pics!

jdm y0!

air filter set up actually fits neat

st162 twin core, 910 top hose with mod

steel pipe, no more sucking in under vacuum!

stripped and bucket seat

power steering arms, AJPS extra lock spacers

19th June 2006, 02:55 PM
ha ha the mirrors almost look to BLING for the car! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

19th June 2006, 03:11 PM
fuck man. you said you had alot of lock! thats alot of lock y0

19th June 2006, 09:31 PM
This thing rocks jocks n socks.

The thing handles mad and goes hard.

Cant go wrong for the cost of this junker

...it needs a new head gasket and a turbo gasket tho.

19th June 2006, 11:28 PM
omg look at that lock. time for 90 degree drift i think dave http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

20th June 2006, 12:40 PM
lap times are more fun hahahaa

20th June 2006, 07:20 PM
Hey Dave outta interest, how did the brakes hold up at Mallala. You get fade after a few laps?

1'33's not bad out there dude....was out there on the weekend with a mate who was in the 6hr thingo. He's got a fairly worked Dat 1600 that run a 1'29 on cut slicks so the 1'33 is pretty respectable on that kind of budget and tyres etc.

Any idea how much hp the engines prob making? Had it up against a 4age yet?

20th June 2006, 07:31 PM
dunno on HP, 90rwkw?

brakes were fine

i will run a 1.30 in this car as is

20th June 2006, 07:58 PM
So when you gonna start selling AJPS turbo kits for the 4ac???......do it.....

20th June 2006, 08:59 PM
i have been thinking about it, i would just sell the bend, flanges and a dump pipe and maybe the carby, they would be about $900 with a rebuilt carb and the oil set up shit

20th June 2006, 09:06 PM
Not bad, i wouldnt mind paying that to turbo my 4AC.

Maybe ill consider buying a sprinter and turboing it for 900$.

* Thinks *

20th June 2006, 11:11 PM

good power
awesome torque
really cheap power
people think your car is cool
you can wheel spin in 3rd gear
you can laugh at people with 4age's
it can be running in 2 days
its not even that loud with a 3 inch

fuel consumption goes up
stuff can start breaking now you are making some actual power figures
pig down low
you want to speed cos you can lol

so basically keep it on boost and you will love it

20th June 2006, 11:39 PM

you want to speed cos you can lol[/b]

I found this so hard to not do in my area lol

Feels mad overtaking cars boosting hard in a junk as fuck KE/AE

20th June 2006, 11:55 PM
yeah once it comes on boost, you just wanna keep the foot mashed and enjoy

OH and while we are on the subject of thrashing my car: how many KMs did you do?? my fuel light is on...

21st June 2006, 12:33 AM
have u turboed ur ke as well joel?

21st June 2006, 03:14 AM
i will be getting some more twin core radiators if anyone wants them?

21st June 2006, 12:50 PM
i have been thinking about it, i would just sell the bend, flanges and a dump pipe and maybe the carby, they would be about $900 with a rebuilt carb and the oil set up shit[/b]

Just the fact that it can be done in a couple of days is awesome...

What's it like with detonation etc? Being draw thru you couldn't run an intercooler, (yes?). Would you need one anyway on lowish boost?

Why would it be illegal Dave? Sigma turb's run pretty much an identical setup from stock don't they? Surely you could get it thru regency with the right brakes etc....

21st June 2006, 03:24 PM
if you make this product available i would buy an ae71 just so i can buy the kit off you:P

21st June 2006, 05:22 PM
I dont get it, How is it illegal?

21st June 2006, 06:13 PM
technically its not illegal

but it makes you want to drive illegally hahaha

i will make the kit available, but it will take some time to get all the bits together, i will keep people posted

21st June 2006, 06:18 PM
Ahaha I get it. You rekon it would work for a 4KC?

21st June 2006, 06:40 PM
This thing is the biggest ghetto weapon! That lock is nuts. Good work champ

21st June 2006, 07:49 PM

unreal car bud!!! interesting to see how far you can get with the 4ac!! i don't think anyones ever bothered, respect aiight!!!

22nd June 2006, 12:38 AM
lock rocks the big 1!

as for the 4ac i will be persisting with it for sometime

ill keep people updated

maybe some dyno figures

22nd June 2006, 11:11 PM
Ever considered giving it a good wash and shine?

23rd June 2006, 11:21 AM
yes, but i only drive it twice a month (more if im naughty http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif)

and i dont really see the point in washing it,

i normally was it before going on the track, but im not going to waste time poslishing it

unless you want to volenteer?

23rd June 2006, 12:12 PM
Fo sure. I would do it if you let me ride with you when your on track.

To bad you live in SA... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

23rd June 2006, 12:58 PM
i need a cage before i can take passengers on the track which will be happening at some stage http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

24th June 2006, 01:01 PM
Whenever your near give me a call. I want to feel the 4AC ;D

How many motors have you gone though?

Ill put money on it that you have spare 4AC's hanging around ey ;D

24th June 2006, 08:53 PM
still on the first one, i have a spare i will be using soon

26th June 2006, 01:04 AM
Any dyno numbers yet bro?

Also, what twin core radiators are you getting in?

26th June 2006, 01:50 AM
st162 celica

no dyno yet, when i fix it up a bit i will

with the head gasket gone, i am going to put silver seal/headgasket in a can or similar a shot to see how long it lasts http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

27th June 2006, 01:03 AM
this is a true ghetto chariot lol

27th June 2006, 09:02 PM
what turbo have u used and what carb should i be looking for?

to do a similar set up

28th June 2006, 12:08 PM
i get asked this question everyday, read third page

6th July 2006, 02:10 PM
the new block is going in this weekend in prep for the g1 comp on the 16th time to BAN (burn a nissan)

7th July 2006, 09:57 PM
hey mate.

i love your style. i would like to no what kind of life time you think this set up would achieve minus the little 20PSI hick up at the start. im seriously considering it.

thanks mate awesome work.

!!!!!!!!!GHETTO FTW!!!!!!!!!!

7th July 2006, 11:09 PM
we will see how good the new motor handles it

but if it was just run on 7psi and not had the fuck caned out it i have no doubt it would of lasted 'forever' as in 50,000kms with out a major drama

10th July 2006, 02:44 AM
Whens the new block in man?

10th July 2006, 02:35 PM
Wickeeeeeeeeeeeeed! Can't wait to see this thing in action again.

10th July 2006, 02:46 PM
i have hired C1 express to run the car in from me - 1000kms to go and counting!

10th July 2006, 02:50 PM
You should have hired me to do it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

10th July 2006, 06:12 PM
so you are willing to drive an unregoed pig 1000kms?

10th July 2006, 11:21 PM
I got a pair of jack stands and a brick.......
Ferris Bueller biznitch.....

11th July 2006, 02:51 AM
this week will depend on the validility of that statement

C1 runner innerers inc.

12th July 2006, 01:25 AM
so you are willing to drive an unregoed pig 1000kms?[/b]

Yes, but you won't want me to, cause you're still running it in.

Like you said, in your ghetto speccer you just want to thrash it, and a new motor is gonna throw a rod out if i do that http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

But then again a replacment motor will cost you one cubic six pack http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

12th July 2006, 03:56 AM
MASSIVE PROPS are in order from 'C1 running INdustries' who definitely brought all his skills (5hours worth) to the cypher

thanks to SEEDEEWON entreprises 300kms have been done... with 700 to go

12th July 2006, 04:42 AM
*copy pasted from toymods*

as for my car

we took it out at 9pm tonight

and it was running like SHIT! seemed to be fueling up and other ghey things...

but we fiddled around, and then a spring on the carby snapped....

and it started running PERFECTLY, couldnt be happier, so linear etc

and we managed to knock off 300kms of the 1000kms

things are looking up!

it is now LEGALLY registered, just waiting on the correct number plates (FKN plate theives)

my new engine mount to replace the snapped one comes in tomorrow

and my cusco front end (rose jointed caster rods, modified caster rod brackets for easy swaybar removal, and a tie rod end brace) have all been ordered, but they wont be here in time for G1...

cant wait!

13th July 2006, 03:42 AM
just got home from another long night

we are up to over 600kms now

going back to MADAZ tomorrow to replace engine mount, fill it up with torco syntetic oil, and turn boost up to 10psi

do another few hunded kms, and she will be all ready for G1

once again a massive thanks to C1 for his excellent running in skills while some of us dont have licenses

13th July 2006, 09:39 AM
awesome man!! sounds good. this one sounds like she might last a bit longer. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tup.gif . i dont no if this has been said previously but do you no if youll be selling these as kits?? oh and i don't think im interested in those springs for sale sorry-ive been told to go 6KG.

i wish you lived in queensland

13th July 2006, 11:37 AM
im undecided if i will be selling kits as the carbys are very hard to get...

whats the go with the springs? i have 8 and 6kg on order.???

14th July 2006, 12:45 AM
i have an ae82 and i was going to work my 4ac, and this has pretty much made me want to do it 100%

so thanks for not wasting time on a bigport http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

and thank god im not the only one with these thoughts

14th July 2006, 01:06 AM
hey how heavy would falcon springs be?

14th July 2006, 04:10 AM
another long night, the boost has been turned up to 7.5psi

and the running in oil has been changed to torco

car is running sweet, got another 150kms to do then 10psi, wheel alignment then hit the track WOOT!

14th July 2006, 02:20 PM
Best be repping hard at G1 neeegurrrghhh.

Shit will be wet and you'll be able to catch all the nissan junkers.

14th July 2006, 02:26 PM
re88s might be TOO slippery then loL!

15th July 2006, 10:46 AM

yeah, well im done running in this sack! 900kms w00t! lol

going to get it dynoed this morning if JHS the fat c**t ever wakes up

Props to C1 international, wastegate bolter upperers with frozen hands!

it won a couple of drags last night on 0.5 bar and the car is so responsive now, but it has developed some ghey axle shake vibration shit

this isnt a takai style excuse http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

i will be out there repping heart and soul!

15th July 2006, 10:54 AM
oh poop i must have miss read it then, my bad so can i buy some rear 6kg's? and how much?

sorry mate

15th July 2006, 11:00 PM
after some EXTENSIVE tuning today

after the dyno run this morning (ping spec)

the car is making a LOT more power!

should be sik

it even beat and rx8 in a drag, my car was 3 up!

15th July 2006, 11:45 PM
after some EXTENSIVE tuning today

after the dyno run this morning (ping spec)

Sweet...what's the good word then? How much rwhp? Got sheets....?

16th July 2006, 01:06 AM
nope no dyno sheets,

it made 74rwkw (not on power run)

before overfueling and popping (flames)

then leaning out up top and pinging its arse apart...

we gathered all the info we learned from the dyno

and then

put new plugs in and reset the gap (big big improvement)

new points reset the gap

upped the boost to 0.8

retarded the timing ever so slightly after about 1 hour of street tune (made adjustment go drive etc..)

then we added another fuel pump, an electric facet, this was the BIGGEST improvement

this added so much more power up top it was like a different car, instead of coming on boost and 'plateau-ing out' its now pulls hard well past 6,000rpm

it was fucking flying at this stage on pump 98, started running a fuck load smoother and more econmically....

i would say it is making at least 100rwkw in our 'safe tune'

rarely pops now, and we have basically moved the power curve higher into the rev range to better suit drift etc

everything seems to be holding together well...

packing to car now.. then up for a 5:30 am start for mallala

see you all out there!

16th July 2006, 01:16 AM
sounds good, hope 2 c u and it do well 2moro

17th July 2006, 01:20 PM
what a fucking weekend!!!! shit fuck lol!!

time line

monday: brand new block goes in
tuesday: pick up car and run in 300kms done
wednesday: purchase and replace d/s engine mount another 300kms
thursday: back to workshop for oil change, filled with torco that night another 250kms
friday: got tyres ready bought a couple of parts did another 180kms
saturday: put it on the dyno coughed splutterd spattered pinged! took the results and then we and changed and re gapped plugs, points, checked dizzy, added and elec fuel pump turned boost up to 0.9 bleeding to 0.8 bar adjusted timing!!! car was fucking FLYING so so fast...i would say a FLAT 14! pulled a car length on an RX8! did another 150 kms

so the car was run in and going fucking hard....

sunday: get up 5:30 am...head to G1 drift comp..., go to warm up, bang 3rd gear, tyres smoking me smiling.. oh shit Jpipe to turbo gasket is blown...resulting in no power!!! also a coolant leak causing my car to get hot!
quick fix is attempted...failed!

somehow i manage to still qualify....

but there was no point going in the battles with such little power...

so i called on Clem Smith (track owner) who pulled the welder (last ditch effort) out for me...

it took too long getting repaired that i missed my battle, went out for some wet slides in the team drift for the LOL factor...and then went home, broke, cold and tired with a slow car....

the end!

ps. some snazzy cusco bits for the front end just rocked up FTW... i will updated when they get in stalled!

17th July 2006, 01:52 PM
yeah i wondered what had happened, but i as i was frozen i could walk to the pits to find out what was happening http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

17th July 2006, 02:20 PM
go crap engines http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

17th July 2006, 02:30 PM
he was in the decent blue sprinter, not the silly thing that crashed... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif

17th July 2006, 02:46 PM
That sux Dave...at least u've got the car pretty well sorted now tho. Blows after all that work minor shit stopped you from being competitive.

What you gonna do about the j-pipe gasket? Did it have a proper gasket or was it Shoo-Goo.... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/greenbounce.gif

17th July 2006, 02:59 PM
it was a proper gasket, but now im showing off how good dinky little TOYOTA bottom ends are by running 0.9 bar! (13psi)

little weaknesses show up when you start pushing it!

17th July 2006, 04:18 PM
Man if you can still qualify even with your car making no boost that shows that you, my boy, have some mad skillzzzzz. A gasket costs like $.30, go ficks it, now.

18th July 2006, 01:27 AM
all the problems will be getting fixed this week...

24th July 2006, 01:45 PM
it broke

24th July 2006, 02:53 PM
it broke[/b]

what did? 4AC go bang bang, did you find the limit http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

24th July 2006, 04:46 PM

yes it is back together and running...

BUT the whole motor seems out of balance and will prolly blow up again

time for gze bottom end!

24th July 2006, 10:14 PM
what did u expect on stock 30yr old internals?

hey can u post a pic of the munted piston?

24th July 2006, 11:54 PM
Bad luck man... that was a new (ish) motor too... dang.. Gze bottom end FTW man.

Yes, pics of the destroyed piston, please!

25th July 2006, 11:07 AM
4AC with a GZE bottom end, could definately call that a world first.

29th July 2006, 11:15 PM
u were running GZE bottom end?

30th July 2006, 04:02 PM
Nah its just got stock 4ac bottom end atm, but going full 4AGTE setup when he has money. Considering how much he works hindley st, shouldn't take too long http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

30th July 2006, 06:21 PM
yes dave is a fair whore(with a perm)

5th August 2006, 07:44 PM
yeah its still 4ac bottom end

it will be EFIed 4agte soon enough

maybe blow up another 4ac before then hahahaha

a few more mods will be done this week i will keep you all posted

5th August 2006, 08:19 PM
you rock dave best idea ever http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wub.gif ooohhh so many emotions

7th August 2006, 12:04 PM
your my ke's inspiration

9th August 2006, 01:10 PM
the actuator diaphram had a hole in it so the boost was spiking,

we replaced it and turned the boost down and the timing up

it is much nicer to drift now

12th August 2006, 01:55 AM
FKN flange gasket blew again, it started running on 3, and is generally running GHEY

oooh the life and times of carbies....

4agte WILL happen

mallala tomorrow, hopefully get into the 129.XX or better

12th August 2006, 12:57 PM
Noo the 4AC-T =(

14th August 2006, 03:02 PM
yeah exhaust leak getting fixed today, and then brake upgrade

15th August 2006, 12:42 AM
i snapped an axle, i will put a t18 diff in soon

15th August 2006, 01:03 AM
Ouch... not fun.

Get some GTE + T series happening, this thing may be quick but it's not seeming too reliabel atm man.

get it happening for the bbq. If you want i can lend you a hand.

15th August 2006, 02:44 AM
well that diff has done 300,000kms, 25,000 of those locked, trashed hard

the car starts everyday, it is a project it has teething problems

i will do gte sooner if you fund it, for now i will leave the 4ac as temporary

15th August 2006, 11:46 PM
The Mighty 4AC is over =(..

15th August 2006, 11:53 PM
its not out yet, im sure it will go out in a 'blaze' of glory

16th August 2006, 02:28 PM
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

16th August 2006, 02:38 PM
Looks like i'll be joining you in the AE71 drift cars Dave.
Going to start building one.

16th August 2006, 08:31 PM
And all this time I thought Evan was gay...........

16th August 2006, 11:47 PM
Looks like i'll be joining you in the AE71 drift cars Dave.
Going to start building one.[/b]

but you will get banned from hachiroku circle jerk

17th August 2006, 02:03 AM
within 12 hours it should have

t18 diff with swaybar mounts

3.7:1 locked centre

new drum shoes

rose jointed trailing arms

i also need to update specs

but i got my cusco 'power' brace in (ties castor rod brackets together) it is awesome

i also have a front lip

i will post some more photos soon with the new look and the crash damage (small tap in the rear)

17th August 2006, 11:16 PM
t18 diff is in, makes some wak noises, the car is also leaking massive fumes into the cabin giving me a bad head ache!

i need a 3.9 tho!

the firenzas arent a bad tyre either!

19th August 2006, 01:11 AM
Theres front Lips that fit on KE70s? No way ;o

19th August 2006, 09:54 PM
yup sure is i will post pics soon

21st August 2006, 12:27 PM
now perhaps?

21st August 2006, 12:31 PM
why did you go 3.7...would have thought 4.1 minimum

21st August 2006, 03:07 PM
i WOULD of gone 4.1, but you see a 4a-c doesnt like revving past 6000, so down the back straight at mallala it is on 5700, so i thought a 3.7 would be good, i was wrong, 3.9 going in next week

when i 4agte i will 4.1 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

28th August 2006, 06:31 PM
car is on the dyno!!1111

29th August 2006, 11:00 AM
thats fricken awesome

if you build another 4ac you should just balance the bottom end, it might add that little bit of strength your looking for.

29th August 2006, 01:23 PM
That's nuts. At what boost?....rpm? Sheets or ban......

29th August 2006, 05:16 PM
The car needs an actuator to retard (?) the ignition as boost goes up so he can crank more timing out down low and, and overall make more power. unfortunatley these require fair bit of time to set up. and as we all know, time is directly proportionate to cubic dollars.

And this is lawson we're talking about http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

As said before, he is going 4AGTE in a few months.

29th August 2006, 06:40 PM
about 15psi at 5500rpm

31st August 2006, 12:08 AM
Aye Dave why you going 4agte?

Surely that's making enough power for you now...is it a reliability thing or are you hoping for more smoke plumige?

31st August 2006, 03:19 PM
nar, i want more revs and more reliability, i want to get under 1.25 at mallala, it did a 1.29 on like 4psi with aus spec brakes, so yeah...

31st August 2006, 09:09 PM
OMG w00t

4ac, stock compression, stock fuel pump, stock ignition, stock everything

just 1 ihi turbo, stromberg carb and a 3 inch exhaust, 98 oinktayne and a bit of igntion....16psi =

31st August 2006, 09:11 PM
edit: i suck at the internet

31st August 2006, 10:01 PM
Rad....neck snapper....

31st August 2006, 10:25 PM
not quite neck snapper, but it goes ok, weight bridge 910kg with 1/4 tank

1st September 2006, 06:04 PM
man thats awesome... im so doin that.!!

1st September 2006, 06:25 PM
the whole turbo set up will be for sale soon

4th September 2006, 12:15 AM
When finish this car will you buy another KE70 and turbo the 4AC http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif...?

4th September 2006, 01:25 AM
the turbo set up and 4ac all complete with fresh bottom end is now for sale EOI, i have an offer of $1000...

4th September 2006, 10:00 AM
god some people are either crazy or stuiped

4th September 2006, 10:39 AM
Dave fits nicly into one of those types.. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

4th September 2006, 10:59 AM
yeah i was more reffering to someone who is going to pay 1 grand for a 4ac turbo

4th September 2006, 11:49 AM
Each to thier own mate.

4th September 2006, 11:52 AM
god some people are either crazy or stuiped[/b]

Call me both...but you give us some examples of fresh rebuilt engines making 100 rwkw for $1K that you can bolt into my AE71 straight swap...

4th September 2006, 12:19 PM
id rather small port 4ag with some carbs

but each to your own[/b]

True to each his own but that thing will hand a carbed smallport it's own arse. Carbed smallports are like hens teeth and building one you'd not have much change left from at least $2.5K after webbers and all the R&D...

Can see your point tho and it's not for everyone. Reliability wise it's no different from any other turbed engine....still blows gearboxes, diffs, and the odd head but 4ac's are like $50 each.... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

4th September 2006, 01:25 PM
Dxaqta - id go a 4act over small port with carbs any day. Sure the occasional head might go but its a hell of alot cheaper and less stressing and at the end of the day youll be driving instead of tuning.

dave - impressive figue there! all up how much money and time does it owe you?

4th September 2006, 01:38 PM
My personal opinion is that this isnt the place for whoring..

Take it to offtopic..

4th September 2006, 07:04 PM
reliable? i drive it every day, sure it has had a few teething issues, but yeah, cant complain since i thrash the fucking piss out of it

a carby small port?? = the ghey!

thanks for whoring my thread, 13 pages now woooo

not everyone can afford a yager built 7a

4th September 2006, 10:20 PM
lol you people can bitch and comment all you like, but almost the big 100 from a 4AC?! ahah, whos got the braging rights now http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

5th September 2006, 01:23 AM
thanks for the kind words

and as for dxaquta, i could arrange to have some hektik motor built, i could get mark yager to build me a motor, BUT the best thing about my car is the fact that it is running and i can drive it the 'conversion' took 2 days and i was thrashing it that night

I had a mate with a carbed GE, and while it was a kickass motor, it cost a shiteload in parts and tuning, to get an injected engine to run on carbs, you dont just bolt a carb on and tune it, it takes a fair bit of R n D to find what length trumpets are needed get the kind of flow you want, having the appropriate exhaust etc and so on.

Considering a 4AC can be had for the princely sum of "tree fiddy", or a can of coke, this engine has some good bang for the buck quality. Im not a fan of Turbo's either, and the Dyno does need to be run in 4th, but I still think Lawson has a winner here.

so whats the advantage of converting an efi to carb? could you do it to a 22re engine?

5th September 2006, 11:09 PM
yes you could, but for the amount it would cost, NO, unless you wanted to put some junk carby on there and no tune it properly and lose power.....

the problem with going to a 4.1 ratio is that you run out of gears to quickly.....

he is looking for a 3.9 which should make for a happy medium between acceleration and top speed....[/b]

hmm, yeah true but 3.7 equals more stress on the drive line...oh well should be good with the 3.9

3.9 welded and ready for abuse
