Yep thats right Making a replica of the Sprinters that ran around the ractracks of the country 20 years ago

Started life as a rally car, which a couple of the works cars also started their life as well,

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/103318.jpg

Will be used as an all round car, Sprints ,tarmac and dirt rallys still, unfortunatly i cant use it in improved production as the cage doesnt conform to their rules.

Will post more picks when finished in a few weeks

Dont worry its being dropped,

Some decent track suspension and wheels are coming to make it really look the part, i just need to get it back together and finished so i can get it reregistered in a couple of weeks time.
The rally Susupension also helps while putting it back together http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/hammer.gif due to the extra ground clearance

and easy to replace when damaged. and hases were form an ae92 corolla i think, but fits perfectly.

Yeh i saw your car on the pan as well looked sweet. Can you put up the specs of your engine what ecu your using looking at doing same sort of build. Thanks.

ae86trueno
28th August 2006, 12:19 PM
Here are the specs on my engine.

Small port 4ag engine
Rebuilt with new factory pistons and rings
ACL race bearings
TRD 0.5mm head gasket

Head has been cleaned up and ported a little
TRD valve springs
Wade 956a Cams, (good rally cam)
Vernier cam gears.
20V throttle bodies

EMS stinger ECU

This engine is fantastic from 4000 rpm onwards
Is still streetable but only just. No super fancy parts as i had a budget to follow,
and as i proved yesterday is more then adaquite on the track.

It was fun going around some Supras like they were standing still with a tiny 1600 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Water pump pulley if from TechnoToyTuning, and the 3S alt had the same pins and mounts, so it just bolted up, plugged in , and way it went.

It only has a mild cam from Wade in it, as its primarly a rally car it needs good mig range.
On dynos it does between 85-90Kw ATW depending on the dyno.

Time for an update, ive got the gearbox apart to fix a stubborn changing 3rd gear, not too serious but still costing about 1/2 second a KM, so its as good as time as any to freshen up the whole box.
So far i have ordered new syncros, selector forks, selector hubs, and a new TRD 2nd Gear !!! thats right new .

the TRD gears are fantastic, no signs of wear, could last another 10 years , but the syncro ring on the gear is welded on, not just pressed, so its all but usless. 2nd and 3rd were truly stuffed http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/angry.gif

Thanks Guys for those who voted for my car and all the kind words, it does make to effort worth while.

Front Suspension is as follows
Rose Joint adjustable lower control arms.
Track = TRD (tokico) adjustable inserts, AJPS springs, and Cusco comber top's, T3 RCA's.
Rally = Bilstein commodore inserts (Very Big) revalved for rally competition, Eibach Springs, custom steel strut tops.

Rear suspension
Track = TRD (KYB) adjustable dampers, AJPS springs,
Rally = Bilstein escort rally dampers (same size as TRD track !!) Eibach springs

Nolathane Bushings througout, custom alloy Panard rod.

Unfortunatly the rally this weekend has been canned
So Matty will have to wait for the ride of his his life

any chance of updates on your engine build?

Thanks for reminding me Sam, I forgot about over here.

2007 saw me take out 3rd outright and a class win in the NSW Clubman championship,
but showed up some flaws in the poor little Sprinter against some of the bigger engined cars,
Mainly grunt !!!

So with 2008 a new year i plan to rectafy that, by building an engine that gives every spoontang driver wet dreams.

Now I had the Dosh to buy the Full Atlantic Engine that wa on sale a couple of months ago, but it would have cost me heaps to make it usable for rallying, for starters i cant run a dry sump oil system  so I had to start from scratch.

Until Terry From Road and Track just happened to be selling what i was looking for in the form of a fairly strong bottom end.
With some decent Forged pistons, and some nice Carrillo rods, and all the hard work done.

hmmm compression

So all i have to do is sort the top end out,

I have been scouring Ebay just looking for the right parts to pop up and so far i have got some good stuff, like the Toda Flywheel, and the TRD Atlantic double row valve springs. Fortunatly Atlantic 32mm vavles are easy to come by as well.

All i am waiting on now is the Head to be ported and flowed so i can choose a cam profile, but hopefully something with a powerband between 4000 and 9000 will be atainable.

I will post picks of the work of art head work when finished.

more pics later would be great thanks, any idea on the rough compression ratio this combination will end up at?

New engine build has stalled a little, with me not chsing up people,
But in the mean time, I have fitted the Toda flywheel and a new clutch to the current engine,
and installed an oil cooler,

I am going to chase the Guy who is doing the head work for the new engine to see where its at

i didnt know you could run a lightweight flywheel under clubman rules. Well in WA you're not :(

i just sold my toda flywheel because of it...it was barely heavy enough to be a flywheel!

Yep probably heading back from Rally Queensland,

We got the F16 win again which was good, not getting enough coverage on the Ch10 coverage as we would like, but some is beter then none.

The ARC has had Rally Melbourne cancelled, so the replacement round is the Tarmac Challenge in Tasmania,
so we are going to bolt up the Tarmac suspension, throw on some semi slicks and have a run. Unfortunatly the extra cost is delaying the new engine :(
Should be interesting still :2thumbs:
