Now before any one starts to stick it to me no names mentioned (improvedae86 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif ) I am simply posting my car up on this site because I am a fellow AE86 nut, and I am now a site sponsor and many of the parts I sell are featured on the car, so please I dont want a repeat of the NS thread here.

That said, what of the car?

Based on the car that made it all famous in the beginning the Toyota AE86, we have taken a good clean Australian delivered car and are in the process of transforming it into what we hope will be the ultimate drift car in Australia.

The tremec is the new box, W58's were the old box, and yes we did have a few issues, like breaking input shafts, striping 1st gear, 3rd gear and 4th gear, oh and all in less than 3 hours running time, but the tremec will fix all that.

how does it handle honestly? what needs sorting? what problems have you come up against with the radical set up of the car? (ie wheel size and power curve).

i absolutely love ur car been watching the buil since it was just a dull yellow hachi with bolt on flares, one question i have been beggin to ask u is why did u paint the front bumper that way it is and not paint an orange line directly below the lights? is it becos of the flares u didnt want to?

Hey Slydar
The car handle's very well, it is so predicable as well as amazingly easy to throw the back out, but it is by no means sorted as yet, we have done the whole of 3 laps in the car on the track, many people have commented on the small video, where the car understeers coming out of 2 corners, what you have to keep in mind, with any car running a combined tread surface area of 590mm or more than 1/2 a meter on the rear with a locked diff vs 430mm contact patch on the front, if the rears are griping and not being spun, the rear will over ride the front and cause massive understeer.
The night when we tested the car at Pt Gawler, was only a "drive it around the track and see how it feels", so if we needed to make changes we could do it over night, as the next day we had Adelaide International booked for the whole day, with 3 magazine reps and a video production crew coming out to do articles on the car.
Because we had already broken 2 gear boxes and did not have time or any more gear boxes available, the driver was told, do not clutch kick it, do not quick up shift it, dont load the drive train up to much, because the main event was the next day, and that was when we would push the car.
Once the new gear box is in, the drive train will be good for 1000hp and as much shock load as we can throw at it, then we will be able to push the car, and be very agressive with it in order to keep the rear wheels spinning, then we can make what ever changes are required to the set up of the car.
Sorry for the long winded answer, but with out the facts speculation takes over.

Hey dori_86 The front bumper was a mistake by the painter, the section above the indicators was supposed to be painted, this will be rectified when i get the new bumper.

raceflo, i didn't know waggot cams were still about...
their companies nearly like 70yrs old (i think), they used to make twin cam head conversion for holdens old grey motor (in fj holdens no less)
they used the motors for boat racing mostly... there one i know in a car its a fx (or fj)... the guy had it up to 92mph or about 150 kmh....

That 86 is friggin' sweet Raceflo. It's nice to see someone swapping motors but sticking with Toyota. I hate to see hear about SR20, F20C, and CA18 powered 86's when Toyota offer such a perfectly good motor in the 3S-GE & 3S-GTE's.

That is one well thought out and beautifully executed car! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

No offence taken, I am also very keen to see how it goes, but unfortunatly I have been let down by several people who have promised to do things and have not delivered.
Cost wise, a new Tremec TKO2 will cost you around $8000.00 delivered and the Albins gear set will cost you around $10000.00 so all up $18,000.00, but should any one be interested I am able to get my hands on another 3 boxes, brand new with albins gears for around $5000.00.

Cheers

Thanks

Hey Guys

What a great week end, congrats to Leighton, can he be stopped.....I dont think so....AE86 all the way.

Well unfortunatly the car didnt make it onto the track but it did make it out to the track, and it even picked up "Best Car" in the Autosalon, not bad hasnt even been in one drift comp and already a trophy http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

But it was a great day got heaps of exposure and even a few new sponsors, well worth the effort, just a couple of pics.
