Hey Guys,

Looking for some ideas for an exhaust tip/end of exhaust.

Tossing up between a bunch of stuff, wanna see what looks good.

Here's my sad exhaust http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/99833.jpg

So throw a few pics up. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

yea same here, cannon or no cannon im thinkin a jasma style muffler (not cannon)

mattysshop
30th May 2006, 03:42 PM
JASMA is a classification/rule... like ADR... i'm not a big fan of stainless mufflers on hachis... i have a offset center 2.5" internal round muffler, with a stainless tip, on a bit of an angle.. it's straight through, relitivly quiet, and looks mint in Matt black http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

its too larg but i didnt realise that at the time but i dont scimp money on exausts i dont think its worth it to have a car that sounds like shit... contrary to what people may think this exaust is not loud its just a nice deep low sound

This is mine.. Its pretty small http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif
Also looking to just change the tip to make it more aggressive looking.

Its acutally pretty loud .. but not the best sounding.

Does engine make a differnce to the sound of an exhaust? Or is it purely the exhaust system?
I run a 4ac so it needs something to make it sound better.

Will chaging the tip make a diff to the sound?

the engine makes a big difference to the exhause note, even adding a better flowing air filter sometimes changes things a bit, (but it mostly changes the induction note)

If you cut your tip off i think it makes the exhause louder, but i dunno about adding one, probably would make a difference if it wa super long, but it varies from car to car

Damn if your theory about cutting shorter will make it louder, hate to see how loud mine would be without my long ass tip. Mine is a full 2.25", extractors and I have a bigport 4age.

Just looking for what I can do. was thinking bout just a 3" black tip, maybe twin 2.5", maybe a dump tip...

More pics guys.

not the best pic, this exhaust came with my motor and has served me pretty well after being cleaned up and having a couple of lil holes filled.

i reckon you can;t go past a 2.5 inch mild steel tip painter black.

or if you wanna be more out there, twin 2 inch pipes exiting on the left hand side

mattysshop

hahahaha... JDM sounding... hahaha......

just make sure you put at least 1 resonator in there, it will help take out the buzz 4AG's get..

has anyone here heard of a gonzo resinator they sound heaps good on a 4age and its not extremally loud

id prefer 2x 2.25" stainless pipe pointing up on a angle. looks phat

mattysshop
31st May 2006, 11:47 AM
gonzo is a style of muffler/resonator.. he patented the design.. very dear for a muffler.. alot of the V8 boys use them..

my exhaust,

4-1 extractors (1.25 inch i think)
2.25 inch exhast mild steel
Lukey straight through muffler
No catalitic convertor
4 inch titanium cannon on the back

All of this was strapped to 4A-GZE

Needless to say, it was very LOUD, but had quite a good note espeically up in the revs! But sounded more like a bike and NOT a car

stock 16v rwd manifold modded to fit 20v gen3 cat 2 1/4 through to a super cheap cannon. way too loud, outside the car it sounds like a rotor!

Got some 3" pipe from work today, looks pretty big, but gonna cut it, clean it up then weld it on and see how it looks, if it's gay, then it'll come off and I'll get a 2.5" tip or maybe twin pipes.

My exhaust,

4-2-1 Extractors,
2.25 Mandrel Bent mild steel,
2.25 inch SS Cat,
2 Inch resinator

and this 2.5 Inch straight through muffler, pretty freeken loud out of 20V, got a silencer but makes little difference. I think the long section after the muffler (the tip) works as a megaphone and just makes it louder, dont quote me on that though.

Got to get a new muffler with more muffling effect! Resonance in cabin as revs build is nasty!

so your whole exhuast is 2.25" and goes down to 2" resonator?? why not 2.25" resonator?

for JDm sounding exhaust, get straight pipes http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif 99 percent of imports I see come off boats with no mufflers, no cats, sometimes just a cannon on the end.

Heres my Zorst nice and dirty haven,t polished my twin 3 inch tips hanging of the back of a 1-2 straight through muffler behind which is a two inch system with a resonator from john at Rotaflow then into 4-1 extractors then the ZE sound absolutely fat nice and deep.

Forgot to mention i actually added another straight through muffler as car was just too loud especially since two cops live on my street i was attracting the wrong attention.

That's what I have. Had someone tell me today that they heard me drive from the house to the shed from 3km away! Psycho loud and fires sooty chunks of fibreglass across the yard - time for something more subtle I think http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif .

Apparently my KE70 was previously owned by Southport Exhaust so it's got some big ugly arse oval tip on it. I hate it but I've only had it for a day so I haven't had a chance to plan anything new yet. I'm wanting something like this though I think.
