Hey lads,
got all my springs in today and every thing is all good but the front of my car sits like an inch or a inch and a half higher then the really nice and low rear?
There and 8kg and 6kg springs....should i cut a coil or get them compressed from some where like king springs....the car is so high up front!!!

get coilovers
oh wait.
post a pic of the springs, if they have close spaced coils at the bottom, then you can cut some off no worries, just dont cut off too much at a time.
bear in mind that cutting them will make them a higher rate too, but not enough to worry about.

yeah chop them, but only a quarter at a time and then go for a drive with them to let them settle.

I get my springs made at the same place and they are very good quality but I have had the same problem. They reset them for free for me in half a day.
If you buy a product from a retailer (such as AJPS) and it is not quite right then you should send it back to be fixed. Being a good business man I'm sure Dave will have no problem with that! have you asked him at all?
or you could cut them, use a hack saw rather than an angle grinder so that the shot peening does not loose it's effect on the end of the spring through heating.
The rate will increase as a ratio of how much you cut off (eg say 5 coils in the spring and it is 8kg/mm, cut off 1/4 coil new rate is 8*5/(5-1/4) = 8.4 etc. ie each quarter coil you cut off adds about 0.42kg/mm or so for a 5 coil spring).
And the may become uncaptive if your shocks are wrong

if its gunna cost you to get em re set, i would say cut em, definatly makes em harder, but if your going for the perfect 8-6 setup cutting is not the way to go.

the problem lies with the free height
when i was writing up the free heights i matched them to a 6kg rear spring i rarely make now
the 6kg rears are matched to the COILOVERS, as the 6kg rears are very low and intended for motorsport use, most people doing motorsport will convert to a coilover front
an 8kg front spring is massively uncaptive at 210mm (which they need to be to sit even with the 6kg rear) and such to protect my ass from legal issues i made them slightly taller, also a good thing to avoid defects on the street
but it seems people are not concerned about legalites etc and have now revised my front spring height to 210mm
i have to sell short stroke shocks with these
i am happy to have springs re set or even cut them for people unhappy with the heights
i hope you sort it out luke, thanks
