Which one do i use for my ae71? they bolt holes for the larger one (assuming ae86) line up with the ae71 car but only use the extruded holes.. they both look the same in profie but im asking to to make sure can i use either (rather use the smaller one as it would be eaiser to mount due to not having empty bolt holes n shit)

AE86/AE71 gearbox x-members are the same thing, the thin one looks more like a KE70 x-member to me..

Either one will be fine. Although they look different, they both serve the same purpose. The top one is an AE71 xmember, the bottom one is an AE86 one.

86 and 71 x members arent the same to my knowlege.

when i built my ke70 i bought an ae71 t50 with a cross member still attached to it. and it looked exactly like the one in the top of the phtoto does. just 2 bolts to bolt it to the chassis, not 4 like the ae86 one pictured below.

use the ae71 one. its pointless to use the 86 one if youre not use the extra bolt holes. which is impossible as the chassis doesnt have provision for them.

^^^^ agree with above, use ae71. ae86 doesn't fit un less you cut the front half off (first bolt hole bits) ,as they are staggered height in an 86 but ke70 floorpan doesn't have the staggered section. you can modify the exsisting ke70 one but if you have the ae71 mount use it.

ke70 and ae71 are the same
dont use the ae86 one
i was lazy so i used a ae71 xmember in my ae86 and the gbox would hit the transmission tunnel while starting up or struggling!!!! so i replaced it.
so i guess the same thing would happen

you will notice that the ae71 member is closer to the center while the ae86 one is for some reason on bit more to the right (passenger side)

^^^dude that would be because your gearbox mounts are fucked, it happens in my Xt130 when i take off or go off-on power in high gear.
