Heres pictures of my sr20 1983 ADM AE86 build up, a few people wanted to see pics so here they are...

Huge thanks to Brett(white sr20 sprinter) for all the fabriction, he did an awesome job in very little time due to him starting back teaching so pretty much all of it was done in a week. Also big thanks to Anthony and Dimitri from KAIZEN GARAGE for letting the conversion take place there.

Diff: E Series (open at the moment)

Car looks good. You should have seen Brett going nuts on the car. It was funny. E series should be able to handle the power without to much trouble. Besides T series is good till 250hp. The only problem with the E series is that there is no (have not found one yet) LSD for it, but the ratios are excellant. Out of HI-Ace

Mounts where done by Brett and KAIZEN GARAGE, Tailshaft was made at a place near moss st(forgot the name) in brisbane and was $420 for 3inch one piece.

Talk to Anthony or Dimitri (Slydar) on here they run Kaizen Garage. Well obviously its not as simple as droping the sr20 in as you can see from the pics, but i guess there are harder conversions out there...
Just do your research and be prepared to spend a few dollars.

You could just weld it..Like I am sure Brett has suggested. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif !! He is mad keen welder.

On a different note. Car is looking good..Should have seen brett going nuts on the lower lip that he cut off and re-welded on. Hehehe is was funny. He was bashing the shit out of the tabs either side to get them straight so he could weld in that bit of RHS...Good luck with the rest. Have you lined up a paint job yet?

what was the reason that the firewall was cut....? was it primarily to mount the whole lot further back or did it plain and simply just not fit with out doing this..?

its to fit the gearbox.

the engine is mounted in a normal position so he can still run his heater hoses and heater etc
as it will be registered

not really any major changes just gettin dash and gauges in etc...

the beginning of the gearbox tunnel / firewall was cut and bashed up due to SR bellhousing clearance issues
and the engine it self does sit a bit further back then a 4age for example. Idealy you would want the engine to be sitting under that little lip on the top of the firewall for center of gravity but requires a shit load of bashing and cutting and i also want to run a heater box so it couldnt go that far back so i could connect up the heater hose's etc.

cool........... I had the feeling that was the reason was just unsure if all SR conversions have had this done... so its basically a mod that has to be done, otherwise no comprehendo to the SR going in yeh...

Are those straight bolted up S13 arms in the front?

I'm with Jez...I wanna see the super dooper track increase.

rallystanza
16th August 2006, 01:06 PM
Yeah joel, i did some measurements this morning and although the track increase is only about 20mm per side, due to differnt balljoint to wheel mounting face measurement from AE86 to S13 stuts/hubs, there is reputed to be a big camber change using the S13 arms.

So it seems the arms dont end up being too long but the camber is effected somehow.

Stll working on it

Gday

Completely cut out the shifter area
[attachment=9417:attachment]

Then make up a plate to cover the hole and weld and sikaflex it on, then you can cut out the old holes that the shifter boot screws into then weld them underneth the new plate and then drill threw the new plate to expose the boot screw holes or maybe you can use tech screws to fix the boot im not shore.

Let me know if that doesnt make sence or if that wasent what you were after.

steroidchickens
26th November 2006, 09:25 PM
yeah you just screw the button on further and cut the spring down a bit.

if you wanted to cut it down heaps you could cut the rod down and super glue the button to the rod.
but you wont need to cut it down that much.
