Hey guys

With the AE86 being out of action for so long waiting for parts and large amounts of cash, I decided to use some of the spares I have lying around and build a daily/drift practice car.

Start with on fairly clean KE70 Ser 2, add 1 set of 16x8 Volk Racing wheels, add T3 rear coil over set up, add T3 front coil over setup, add T3 RCA's, Momo Wheel, Momo Gear knob, 4" dump, AE71 Tacho dash and so far its not a bad little daily.

In the shed waiting fittment, either 1 4age with Twin Carbys, hi comp, lightened flywheel, big cams, adjust cam gears....or 4agze with t25 Turbo, Microtech computer, lightened fly wheel.....or 3RZ 2.7lt with GT30 turbo and w58 gearbox........or 3SGTE ST185, microtech, W58........I just cant make up my mind what to use........or I do have a 20B sitting there as well as a 1JZGTE manual also.........mmmmmm so many choices what to do???

Definitely put an L20 with a 32/36 Down draught in it.
Seriously though, if you go the twin carb set up, can you tell me how you would go about the problem with the dizzy?

What problems with the dissy, the early 4AGE motors run an electronic dissy that is not controled by the computer, so just wire it up, put in some dummy injectors and whhhhooooohhhhhoooooo induction noise here we come http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

Definately wouldnt do the 3SGTE..thats a $9,000 conversion (including motor). Would go 4AGE with twin carbs. It is what i will be running. The only problem with running the early dizzy with no mods is that you will have no vacume advance.

4k ftw

marvin

there is a way of getting vacume advance on the electronic Dissy but, I am keeping the details quite till I have proved it will work.

I am fairly sure I will fit the carby 4AGE for the time being, when I get bored with that I will revisit the conversion and do an upgrade.

Cheers for your input

Yes correct, enter 1 3RZ, NA at this point, but I know I wont be able to help myself, so I will get it in and give it a month or so and I will probably want to go the turbo option, but for now I really want to see what power it makes in standard form, and just what the comparison is between the 4AGE and the 3RZ on the road, it should be outstanding with the extra torque offered by the 2.7lt, and to my knowledge no one has done the converion, appart from ARE but that is hardly a comparison with 788rwhp.

But now you mention the 968 3.0lt engine you have got me thinking!!!!

Cheers

Erm, a 968 3.0L would be cool, but replacement parts for the motor when things break (which is inevitable) will cost more than the KE70 itself.

In other words, 3RZ ftw! will be a really interesting project to watch. hurry up and build it, dammit! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

Ok Ok Ok calm down Im hurring, http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif just waiting for the engine to get here, it may be a couple of weeks before I get to look at it given the fact that we are moving house, I need to get the Sprinter finished to try to get it out to the G1 final, and I am now working full time, so maybe later this year at this rate http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

Well the engine and gearbox have been paid for today, they are getting picked up tomorrow and delivered on friday, then the fun of mounting and sorting the wiring begins, luckily I have a spare KE 70 in the shop I can trial fit everything to before taking my daily off the road for the converion, cant wait to see what it is like in stock form, everyone I have spoken to that has the 2.7 in their 2wd Hilux recons it goes alright, so in a car 500kg lighter it should be a good thing. time will tell

I drove a late hilux with said engine in the wet on bald tyres with no load once. Needless to say it was interesting. They go pretty hard.

Cheers Guys
The engine is now here with the gearbox as well, the engine has computer but the air flow meter has been pinched and there is a plug and the inner section of the loom is missing.....so Microtech time http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif I have bought a set of Hi tech headers for it which will allow a 2 1/2 system off the headers to the back of the car, which will be ok till the GT30Pro turbo goes on.

I am in the process of trying to find a front hump sump, if I cant find one then it will be custom time, but hopefuly there will be another model that has front sump which will enable ease of fitment into other cars.

Not much will happen this week with me moving house and workshop, so maybe in a few weeks time I will be able to get it organised.
