Ok I got this thing a few weeks ago and it has a bit of rust on the sunroof and inside the doors and that but on Monday its going for a mad spray job (hopefully will be mad) and I will add the pictures of it I took today and after 2 weeks when its finished I will put up the pictures of the new spray job, let me know what you think.

Also while we're here could I get a few opinions on keeping the white and black theme going or should I go with Silver and black coz I think silver will make it look a little newer while still looking full initial d styles? http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/dry.gif

Silver panda sounds neat, go for it! Hope you're getting the rust fixed properly before the spray. Yeh those wheels on the front look great, got the full set?

HYPNTK
20th August 2006, 06:12 AM
hey thanks for the feedback guys...will post up pics as soon as the spray job is done...will let it be a surprise whether its gonna be silver or white (coz i dunno myself yet gotta make up my mind hehe)...i don't actually have the full set of the watanabes but i will be searching for a full set of 15 or 16 inch ones with heaps of dish after the spray job

p.s. oh and yes the rust is getting very well repaired...thats the whole idea behind the spray job! have the whole car sprayed is just a bonus of the rust being repaired as well...thought i'de do it all at once

p.s.s. dunno if the watanabes are genuine...they seem to be but couldn't be sure

YES THEY'RE REAL!!! they have the logo with the W's on the side...how much would they be worth seeing as they're only 13 inch?

yeah i dropped it off today and the original quote i had for $1500 to do flat white with the bumpers black sort of wasn't enough for a gunmetal panda spray job...i'm pretty tight-assed atm but i'm going to see him tomorrow again anyway...fingers crossed he won't be too expensive

since your respraying the entire car you should consider flaring the guards just to stop any problems that could arise later in the future.

umm all the other panda sprinters and truenos i've seen and got pictures of have the black stripe all the way around the car continuously...either way it looks sweet..

and yes it felt awsome rolling up to the panel beaters and seeing it parked in the driveway and then driving home on the way and thinking that everyone is looking at your shiny new car hehehhe

oh yeah...well the problem there was that the stripes on the doors are actually rubber strips and for me to take them off and fill the holes and paint a seperate stripe would have cost extra (probably not much) but i just let them do it like this and see if i like it but i will probably end up doing it properly like the above pic later on

yeah man it is very cheap, i was recommended to this painter by a mate...he has his workshop behind his house and works with his son and they are right behind a HUGE panel beaters company hahhahaha...so whatever quote they give you and if you cringe they say just go next door and ask how much they want and if they would even take the job hehe.

i didn't do any prepping myself man...they did everything...there was quite a bit of rust here and there...inside the door jams and door sills and around some of the windows, around the hatch and the sunroof was fucken rooted with rust...yes its in 2pac paint (i told him to use the brightest white he could get....)

they didn't take it all the way to metal (that would cost heaps more) they just rubbed it back, repaired rust and dints and deep scratches and then painted.

still extremely cheap for all that work

well i went there and told him about it and he was having trouble understanding exactly what to do but then when he looked at the pictures i had with me he picked up on it straight away...i talked with him about it while walking around the car showing little things like where it should be black and how and that and then printed pictures for him of every angle of panda sprinters so he could refer to every time he got a bit confused...its the only thing you can do man...aside from standing over his head for 2 weeks while he does it
