how the hell do i get it off? i bought a set of struts to suit e7 off here that came with lowered springs. i only want the springs. how do i get the springs off and then put the springs onto my struts. i know how to do everything else i am just fucked if i can get that top bolt off. any help would be saweet.

have to either use a set of multi grips or spring compressors to get tension off the spring then just undo the top bolt... make sure you get tension off the springs, my fathers mate lost his teeth from undiong it under stress

Rattle gun.

Or clamp the spring top hat in the vice somehow, then use your socket and strong bar.

On one occation, I welded the spring to the top hat, then clamped the spring in the vice.

how loose are the springs?....are they cut springs?...i took out my cut springs on my ae86 without the top hat comming off...

spun the spring out of the bottom plate it was sitting on....came out like nut on a bolt

they are proper lowered springs in the ones i bought but they are running un-captive, so there is no pressure on the strut top but i cant get it undone. the ones in the car i tried losening the top bolt while it was in but i can get either of them. omfg i want to kill someone, its so frustrating i done the back and then went to do the front and cant get them done. my car looks like it should be on boostcruising. lowered at the back and not the front. boostgangsta ketto? i dont think so. fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

dude, take it to a workshop and get them to use a rattlegun on itunless you have one yourself

but im to lazy. fuck oh well. i will ill do it another day cause i have to go to work now. fuckkkkkkkkkk. yay for positive camber!!!! ill just go to pedders and get them to change the springs for me. cbf doing myself. pissed off now. fucking heap of shit.

dude dont take it to pedders. they are gay. just go to a small workshop, where the guy that works there is the boss, take in a 6 pack of beer and ask him to undo the nut for you and have ur other struts there also and change them over, and get him to do them back up. will only take 2 mins tops

You should always loosen the top nut off(a couple of threads) before you remove the strut, makes things a lot easier.

put strut on ground and stand on it to secure it .. Get mate to vise grip the shock with rubber to make alot of friction. Use a long breaker bar, to crack the nut. Easy

Put the struts into the car, sit the car back down on the ground, crack nut with breaker bar. Remove strut, remove spring.
