Because it is cheep, has a higher octance lvl then petrol (100oct) and was cheep to fit back in 2004 ($1500).

Nice car mate, very interesting choice on the LPG must have even better economy!

remarkable.

the only turboed LPG car i have ever seen. i know with a lot of factory cars the LPG engines are less potent. case in point the BA factory LPG straight 6 loses an entire 30Kw.

goes to show with clever workmanship that anything is possible, as that power output of 127 @ wheels is just brilliant.

well done fella. if u want to shed any light on the fiddling that needed to be done, we'd all be fascinated im sure.

nice work, cheers.

Lets just say that when you have a duel fuel car such as the BA coon wagon, they can only tune it perfectly to either petrol or gas and that means the other gets the less power because not tuned perfectly.

as LPG has a high octance rating (98-100) it is better then most fuels out there, the only way to get both tuned right is to install gas injection which cost around $4000 and it runs on the standard computer.

i got my LPG system fitted for $1500, by a mate and it runs great, starts first go everymorning and gets 420km to $30 of LPG on a long trip, about 350km hooning.

yes the tank means less boot space but it is a sports car not a luggage hawler, and has no petrol tank to save weight.

dale.

feel free to correct me if i am wrong, but do your research first.

you running a intercooler? sounds a bit risky pumping a mixture of air and lpg through a intercooler. Ever have probles with backfires blowing pipes off?

I am not running an intercooler, and have had no problems with backfires.

I have a spare head at a mates getting it ported, going to do a dyno run before and after on 14psi, should be good.

Some pics of makeing the plenum, it took about a week to plan and make. I am thinking of using a diffrent setup as not using it to full potential.

i like the plenum idea, looks very neat and tidy...

how much did it cost to make? could u possibly make it to fit a larger throttle body?

I heard the government has subsidies on fitting LPG to cars...
ie they pay for some or all of the cost of fitment etc...
Nice 86 btw http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tup.gif

Hey guys, the cost of making the plenum was nothing as my bro works as a fitter & turner, the metal was scrap and we used his works welder.
The throtle body is a XF Falcon throtle body and is over 50mm (dont know exact measurements, but its big). The government is giving up to $2000 for LPG fitting these days, pitty i did mine over 2 years ago.

wow. love the metal fab there. how did you work out the size of the plenum you needed? or was it just a build to see how it goes?

im looking at doing the exact thing for my GZE. gives me some good ideas!
