Howdy yo.

Im gonna be doing the write up on craigs Mish-mash of two KE70's and an AE71 which he call his 'daily driver' cause craig is a lazy mo-fo.
Anyway, the story. This is craigs old AE71.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114870.jpg
it looks shit now, but once upon a time (last week, in fact) it looked shmick and was sliding til it's heart was content. but nooooooo....
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114871.jpg
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114872.jpg
DEFECT! And you can see why.... 6.5cm too low at the back. 2.5 at the front.

As the AE71 had some pretty extreme rust in the rear quarters, it would have never made it through regency. So the hunt was on for a new shell. An ex-loan car KE70, complete with blown 4K (not the good type of blown, the blown as in 'has 15 pounds of compression in cylinders 2 and 3 sort of blown) and 3speed auto and AE71 front quarters, lights and grille was picked up for a very tidy sum indeed.

The car is in the final stages of a running gear transplant. the motor is going back in tommorrow, after changing over the pedal box, installing the clutch master and stuff. But anyway. some Parts lists.

Car: Toyota Ke70 Corolla
Engine: 4A-C
Gearbox: T-50 with oversize shifter bush (notchmeister, yo!)
Diff: T-series rear end with LSD (Locked Standard Diff. It's SA, weldys are standard)

Engine Mods:
2L Cortina Twin barrel carby, with matching adaptor plate
Straight through exhaust system (waiting to be fitted on the new car)
Redline Air Filter
....Erm, shiny air filter cover?

Suspension Work:
AJPS 8Kg Coilovers (Front)
AJPS 4kg Rear Springs (Rear), 6kg's hopefully soon
Short-stroke Shocks (rear)
All bushes replaced with nolathane items
Half the bloody whiteline catalogue! (swaybars, tie rods etc)
Rose-jointed adjustable Lower Control arms
Power steering arms
Traction Brackets
Probably more that i can't remember

Brakes:
JDM Slotted and Vented Front
T Series drums
Lucas 800 (?) degree pads on the front, fuck knows what kind of drum liners.
Castrol super response DOT 4 brake fluid. pedal is hard as, fade is non existant.

Interior:
Nivola RT wheel, replaces a ridiculous OMP 300mm wheel.
AE71 Tacho Dash
All blue, custom black dash (spray can) and baby poo brown roof trim.
Pioneer head unit with 2 6x9's in the rear shelf

Body:
Early model KE70 Front end conversion
JAFS Flared front guards
rub strips in the process of being removed
Tints on the doors windows only http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif
AJPS stickers here and there.
AE71 Spirit wing
TE72 Tailights
re-drilled 16"x7"s

And that's about it. so here's some pics.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114874.jpg
The New Shell

FEEL THE POWER
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114876.jpg
Mandotory free plug for AJPS. SUPER COROLLA TUNING FTW!
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114877.jpg
The 4a-c powerhouse will be in the engine bay tommorrow.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114878.jpg
AJPS Coilovers with 8kg springs, yo.
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114879.jpg
TE-72 Tailight conversion
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/114880.jpg
All the junk from the KE70. At this stage, we've actually FILLED the old shell with the crap we don't need from the transplant...

FUTURE PLANS:
Not much really. Silvertop 20V is the current thought. After all, it's only his daily driver.... yeah, we've all heard that before...

Peace out ya'll.
Javal.

Hey People

Thanks josh for posting this up for me..

The motor was meant to be back in tonight but the last two mid night runs have caught up to me aswell as working 8-5 daliy..

The few things that josh forgot...
-Whiteline adjustable up trailing arms

In the next few months ill start collecting bits and pieces for a 20V swap but till then itll stay as it is.

Big up to Ryan for getting the car to my workshop, Josh for all the help swaping shit over, lawson (AJPS) for all the parts and who ever else i have forgotten

Got my JDM calipers the other day. Just waiting on a backing plate, rotors and pads...

Im trying the lucas pads with the JDM's. They are rated at 700 degrees so we'll so how they go.

Not much work has happened to the car been too slack.

Found out that the auto trans hole for the gear lever doesnt line up with the T50 so i have to cut that some more..

Going to make up a cover plate for the fuel pump and run a facet fuel pump.

Ryan don't worry the tool box will be there aswell as the workshops 3ton jack and it fits under my car.

They are rated at 700degrees so i thought id give them ago and they are only$70 for the set. So theres no harm.

Do you know many better pads???

My rotors and pads should be here in the next hour or so.

Well finally finished the car off today after working till 5 this morning trying to figure out why i had no brakes......

In the end it was a siezed caliper slide....... Stupid f*cking thing....

Made it out to the practice tonight. Got one lap in and the throttle stuck open. Went in fixed that and put some 13"s on the back. All good did one lap and it started over heating. Thought hmmm to much ignition timming (18degrees) went retarted it abit and then the fuel pump f*cked it self.....

All fun and games...

Ill get some pics up tomorrow of the finished product

Big thanx goes to javal for helping all lastnight

Nah dude it had something to do with the under bonnet temps... Temp gauge was at the red and still climbing.

I mounted the fuel pump in there as a temp spot till i could get more time to put it down the back.

Now im getting a rotary type pump and mounting it down back with a huge arse fuel filter to act as a surge tank.

The facet pumps are ghey!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111!!!!!!!!!111111!!!!!!!!!

Edit: Ive also lined up a blacktop 20v with full ecu and loom for $750. Should have it in a few weeks.......

The turbzzz may come at a later stage but its a blacktop 20v and they don't really like any boost.

Plus my 86 is meant to going turbzzz but i dont think that will be happening very quickly.

its all about torque and at what rpm!

i bet that the mightly 1x makes torque lower than 4age

I stand by my descision.
the '1X' makes 2nm more than a 4ac, doesn't feel like its making it until at least 2900 - 3100, so i think 4age is an improvement, plus plans for a SC12 hanging off the side later on. Susupension geometry is almost identical to an AE71, rear end is exactly the same down to the last detail. So it's not that bad a base to start with (sans steering box http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/fap.gif) only reason it's so heavy is cause of the junk motor and gearbox.

On topic, craigs car now has rego. Anyone wanna place bets on how long it takes to get defected?

so your car is going to be about 3% faster, its still not going to drift or do anything

all it is going to do is make your car probably worth less than it is now

and it will require quite a bit of effort

BURN THE RONA - at least buy an st141 and put a 3s in it or something - yes headfuck but better than 4a

Oh, and craig's right. it is almost cut in half. stupid bitch.

Javal I think you'll find that was Belair not Bridgewater. Also I'm not a tool... you can tell beacuse when I get into my car it isn't a corona. Also saw craigs bumper tonight, everyone's gonna think he did a typical P-Plater move and backed it into a pole http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/ohmy.gif

I stand by my light hearted call that you are a tool (i mean it in a joking way, you wanker. you see? just like that!). don't make me bring up what you did (or more to the point failed to do) at windys that night. It's ok that i didn't do it cause i drive a corona not a GE sprinter.

My car is slightly bent now....

Thanks to a tree on mt osman rd..

The story goes...

Came into a corner at about 80km, steered round, started understeering tapped brakes to wash speed off. Understeered more locked up and went straight instead of round the corner and into a tree after getting hit in the head by my mirror...

I am now converting the front end to the early model ke70. So it should look abit better..

Javal will hopefully post pics up of the damage for me

Best overall view of the car. it looked ALOT worse when it was in a tree.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/117846.jpg

Fender-bender stylez. we bent it back and drove it home.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/117847.jpg

Fucked light assembly, bonnet, bumper, quarterpanel, front skirt...

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/117848.jpg

...And radiator support.

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/117849.jpg

Luckily the radiator survived unscathed. mostly thanks to craig's dodgy mounting.

Went to u-pull-it today and scored all the panels and lights required for a KE70E front end conversion for $125. won't take too long till it's back on the road, just gotta wait for the guards to be flared. expect black bonnet stylez.

There's so much misinformation about this it isn't funny. You have to cut and shut rad support?

Javal
7th November 2006, 04:35 PM
No you don't have to cut and shut the radiator support, there is an AE71 one in there now. we had to replace it cause it got... well, bent. you'll have to drill some more holes for the headlight mounts, they are currently held in with 3 bolts between the two lol. the rest bolts up, you may need a bonnet catch, not sure about that. oh, and a KE70 scuttle. otherwise that's it man. eeeeaaasy as.

Its all bolt on. The late model ke70 and AE71s have a different rad support. The lights still bolt to it after you have made a few holes bigger. Ive only got two bolts holding in my passenger side and one bolt holding the drivers side in.

If i were to do it again i would swap to the early model rad support. It would just make mounting the head lights easier.

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/7919/my3sme4.th.jpg (http://img501.imageshack.us/my.php?image=my3sme4.jpg)

I have only made a deposit it on this motor and quads so far. It still has to come from melborune.

Only small problem is it has a stuffed bottom end and needs a rebuild. Oh what a shame looks like it will be getting higher compression and most probably cams. All ran by some sort of aftermarket ECU (most probably a mircotech)

Keep your eyes on this thread people
