Just wondering how much power people make in there 86/e7's and what gear you prefer to use while sliding wet and dry.

im in a stock gze. i use 2nd gear around archerfield all the way. for those that dont know archy youtube it. its a tight go kart track. i will almost hit limiter around some of it and in the hairpins the revs will drop to 1200 but it will still spin the wheels at this rpm.
at qr i use 3rd. i want to try 4th around turn 2 next time i go out tho. i may also drop back to second coming into turn 5-6 but only briefly.

please, please, please do not use 1st gear around archy everyone...

Haha yeah, i have been to archy a few times and i hate seeing people use first, it's just not right :), i personally just use 2nd for every skid, bigport 4age and work that clutch :D, Haven't hit qr yet though, don't know if i would have enough power :[

just look at vtec hittin qr. u just gotta hit it faster than everyone else. still do-able

^^^ siff you dont use 3rd for the hairpin if 3rd skids the esses, for me again at mallala, the esses are 2nd, turn 1 3rd and turn 2 2nd again, but it usually revs to high around it, but 3rd dies out, unless i go quick then i end up in the dirt :P

I used 2nd for the first half of archerfield then back to first for the second half. That was in a chopped and locked 4ac ae71.

I never bothered to try any other tracks

yeh 2nd for archy whole track - ae86 w/ bigport.

4ac loved 3rd QR in the wet HA!

and yet to try QR w/ bigport, hopefully soon

Obviously depends on track. But 2nd and 3rd. Really wanna go to QR and try 4th.

3rd gear + 4ac + wet = feels like your a drift champion and its fast on the street.

Thats the first thing i noticed when i went on track, apart from hte "hey i dony have to look out for cops"

Track feels so slow, would love to try a faster track, wheres that vid of simon doing 4th in his 20V at A.I.R...

stock bigport, i find 2nd is adequate for most street skids in the wet, gonna head to some faster stuff soon...still getting back into it

Get a 4.55 up ya, then you'll use third.

At my fail of a track Barbagallo.

4th for entry and a bit up the hill, 3rd mostly on the rest. A short few seconds of 2nd on the hairpin.

lol that was awesome sliding that track... i had 4th gear wound out at the start of the scando for the middle section... so so fast, faster then mallala thats for sure.

asking ppl what gear they drift in is a bit of a open ended question, it all depends on ratios and diff.

also depends on power delivery of the motor.

with my r32 with RB25 and stock turbo making 215 rwkw, i could do esses at lala in 3rd, as in scando into the esses and leave it in 3rd for turn 7 all the way then pull 4th on the exit of turn 9, then turn 1 in 4th and back to 3rd for turn 2.

then i put a bigger turbo in, with cams, and made 280 rwkw, with some lag but not too bad, but i found i had to use 2nd for turn 7, then pull 3rd mid transition, then 4th for 1 and 2.

basky - scando 3rd gear entry, back to second for turn two and stay in second for rest, nail third going up the hill with hot tyres and feel like bolger
alot of blokes with 250rwkw stay in third tho

im really enjoying 4th gear clutch kicks atm... with a 3.9 diff :)
