Well here it is kids, the famous drift monster: Rolly the Rolla, named for his general (door handle scraping) cornering attitude... Anyway this is what the beast looked like when I got it home, riding on king springs and strangely devoid of any vital fluids but with standard rust around the boot and rear arches.

Pinstripes rock. Not

Um, yeah, 4ac. Shit aye?

That's what you get for $500, the seller was an old school rally guy who recoiled in disgust when I mentioned drifting it. Hahahaha.

I will wash the pig tomorrow and post up pics of the new wheels and general piggishness

Don't worry Ev, I've got Princey out front washing it, lol.

I've actually owned it for about 18 months, but only had it on the road for about 5 or 6 (I think)

Thanks for the positive replies guys, more pics are a-comin

13x6 Cheviot Turbos and my super stealth black 3 inch megaphone

So so far I have:

Fitted up my $100 Cheviots (saved from the metal recyclers)
Gotten the exhaust done, 2 1/4 into 3 inch megaphonage (Thanks Carline Cessnock)
Blacked out around the headlights and grille
Ghetto modded the intake on the 4ac (Thankyou hacksaw)

Shit I've bought but haven't fitted yet:

T18 swaybar diff
ae86 brakes/shocks (thanks Evan)
Short stroke KYB's and braided brake lines (thanks AJPS)
Bigport 4age ($250 Ebay bargain!)
40mm Dellorto side draughts ($50 friend of a friend bargain)
Valeo HD clutch

So basically I've just been driving and drifting and getting to grips with this rwd thing. The plan is to redo the bodywork at some stage, fit up some dished as hell 14's and fit the t18 rear end with an lsd.

I heated the striping up with a hairdryer and most of it just peeled off. For the stubborn bits I used a caramel wheel and buzzed the rest of it. The bits i caramel wheeled don't look real flash up close.

Thanks bustin!

Yeah, I was pretty happy with the 4ag for $250, was expecting it to be rebuild only, but the guy that was going to rebuild for me pulled it down and discovered it's in mint condition, so new gaskets and in it goes! Only thing holding me up is that I have to buy some extractors, an inlet manifold for the carbs and an ignition controller, probably an MSD 6al.

But money is going towards suspension first!

It's not too bad around here, I'm only a few minutes drive from the vineyards, which means plenty of deserted roads, particularly on week nights. My diff's still open so I'm a bit limited in what I can do anyway!

On a related note if the clanger passes scrutineering on Thursday I will be having my first competitive drive at the Mattara hill climb in Newcastle. The 4ac shoudl scare the shit out of all the other competitors, ahahhahahaha

I wouldnt worry about that if the brown celica is competing again this year. The driver was driving it like a cruise with a best time of ~65sec for the run i think. I didn't see the car get thrashed in any of it's runs http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

Brown Celica aye? There is a Celica in my class but I don't know anything about it. I'm just gonna take it easyish the first coupel runs and get a feel for it then I will just hold the 4ac on!

4ac FTW.......!!!!!!!!!

Course_Out
2nd October 2006, 10:59 PM
Thanks heaps for getting the vid up Evan! Your rad! I like that you got my ajps stickers in there too, lol

Yeah, was having some issues with understeer and generally running a 4ac, but apparantly my entry into the dreaded pinch drew praise (was too busy shitting my pants at the point to worry what the commentator was saying!) Ended up running a low 54 second pass by the end of the day, which wasn't even in the hunt but I did beat an st162 celica and a VN SS Commodore (wtf?). First run was a mid 57 so I was pretty happy. Will be back next year with better suspension and more power.

As a sidenote the green Lancer parked next to mine runs a vr4 engine and is owned by a mate of mine. Unfortunately on the 4th run he had a rather heavy coming together with the wall in the pinch and required a tow....the joys of motorsport.....

Thanks heaps for all your comments guys! (Motor racing puts me in a happy mood)

Yeah but I didn't do a wheelie! I'm waiting for the results to come through from the MG Car Club. I'm hoping I cracked a 53 on the last run, but its not heaps likely.

Did you manage to get a looksee into the other AE71? Askt hem what they had done to it etc.

Course_Out
4th October 2006, 11:53 PM
The other ae71 is a full race car, running a 4agze, slicks, locker and a full cage. I was sitting behind and the thing was launching hard. I'm not sure of what exact specs it had suspension wise unfortunately.

To be perfectly honest i was more impressed with the VW Beetle that was next to us in the pits, it was a goddamn weapon!

Course_Out
5th October 2006, 03:39 PM
Update: Just received the results, got a best of 54.38 placing me 73rd of 75 cars.

The young guy in the other ae71 got a 42.85 and came 20th. Gives me something to aim for for next year

5th October 2006, 10:26 PM
Ah well doesnt matter what placing. Hehe it takes balls to race with a 4AC against other high powered cars. I lift my hat for you http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Good luck with the car and ill have my eyes on this topic. Keep us posted http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif.

Well did the praccy day at Oran Park today BEST FUN EVER!!!111ONE

No pics or vids unless someone else took some that I don't know about, car worked perfectly, main issues were:
1) 13's flex like crap and cause understeer
2) not enough power

Suspension was brilliant though, and i did manage to pull of some decent moves (as well as dig a few trenches...oops)

Well well, long time no update!

Took the t3 camber tops out as they were bottoming out and making the steering bind - added bonus of a little extra caster but lost the magic camber. Have collected pretty much everything I need for the 4age conversion, so that should be going ahead soonish (I hope, I'm still waiting on my new rings and bearings to come in)

Though I might get in one last event before the year was through and took the beasty out to Ringwood hillclimb - bit better than King Edward hillclimb, seems that Ringwood suits me a little better and I was able come 70th out of 80 - main issue was hideous under steer on the down hill section - best time was a 39.38, less than 2 seconds behind my mates 170rwkw s14, which made me happy. Now, onto the pics:

http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/161611.jpg
That'd be the under steer then.....

And a nice arty one to finish - no I don't usually have a dirty mo....
