so at this point i look pretty set to be working in jap all of next year. at the end i should easy have cash for another car.

im familiar with the awesome deals on yahoo auctions japan, and that theres plenty of outlets over there.

considering my japanese is mediocre, (but may improve) just logistically, whats the best way to go about securing a purchase and getting it shipped back, without getting raped.

i know i know i know this is a fair way off and.. i will obviously explore all the avenues when im over there.

the reason i post this thread is in case someone actually has imported by themself, and specifically in fact done so whilst based in japan.

thanks in advance for useful tips.

When I was living in japan, I bought numerous items from Yahoo auctions.

if your japanese is not that flash, you will struggle by yourself. The hardest part is probably transfering the money to the buyer. This is done at an ATM(mostly in japanese), so you need to have a japanese bank account, and know how to perform a transfer. Also communicating with the sellers would be difficult. Sending the item is not too bad, you just need to know how to explain how you want it shipped (air or sea).

My best advice is to make friends with someone that is willing to help you! Bidding on items is the easy part! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
