hello
my name is ed, i live in tassie, i'm ugly, and...i own an ae86, which would be why i'm on this here forum.
the aforementioned car looks like this..
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/119342.jpg
it's my first ever 100% standard car and it f*cken sucks
was bought off the 2nd ever owner, who had to sell it because he couldn't see it anymore (stole from the blind + 1 badass point)
for 2 grand i got a 4ac powered, rust free, poo brown coloured road obstruction...sick.
the story so far... had it two weeks, removed those stupid wheel arch chrome strips, put a new clutch in it, make it run on all 4 cyl (rocker clearances are a wonderful thing), make it stay cool, drive it.
first drive impressions are... :fap:
i'm also amazed with it's ability to consume a litre or water a day, yet have no leaks, perfect compression, cooling system holds 60psi and the oil isn't milky...nice
time to fix stuff! i talk to david lawson from AJPS (cheap plug, nothing is free) for a while and it ends with him talking alot about stiffness, ...odd, anyway, i like the guy so i buy some springs, shocks n stuff, i also give him 150 to start a modelling career. will get pwr steering arms, adj swaybars, adj camber tops in the next few weeks
to come...
fix up paint as this thing is so fast it's starting to come off...http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/119343.jpg
i used to work for ppg and holden and i've got some tiger mica paint sitting there, so that'll go on it.
maybe a vertex kit so i can smash it off when i hit stuff, this will happen next year
steal the xr4s on kierans car when he isn't there, he'll get over it.... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/119344.jpg
and finally engine... 20v or rotor, as i am involved with a rotary workshop...who knows, regardless, if you want a 20v or gear for it, talk to kaizen garage, they knows the stuff.
anyhow, engine conversion should start in the next few weeks
who knows, really who cares, this post is already too long.
enjoy yourselves, talk soon, with pictures.

i have the ps arms etc in stock for you man

Antdragonist
2nd November 2006, 01:35 PM
it's christmas!! my suspension gear arrived from AJPS today, that fast old man!!!
much credit to david lawson for his service, but i'll take some away cos he edited my post, the truth cannot be hidden forever...ok i'm dribbling shit again.
this is pretty much the entry level kit you get from AJPS for a price that is good, well it's better now so buy it. you don't get the bushes, they are extra, but worth it.
good stuff tho...i cannot recommend it enough, obviously coilovers are extra, and were on my mind when i was buying the gear, but all they offer over this setup is height adjustability and the ability to run more neg camber without the strut hitting the strut tower, and i don't need to run mass camber for what i want, some caster would be good tho..
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/4/8/4/3/119355.jpg

broken engine parts are supplied at an extra cost.

i'll post up some pics of the suspension gear being put in and what not over the weekend
no real other news, started getting the paint and stuff together to spray it, but obviously that will have to wait until conversion is in. i'm starting to not like tiger mica...need a colour that says 'this is a mans sprinter' as my sexuality is questionable at the best of times.
till then, enjoy yo'self....bitch.

RobertoX

action shot, me, chuffed, explaining to the old man that according to my measurements i'm gunna have to chop around 60mm out of the crossmember, make my own engine mounts using s1-s3 front plate (s4 and s5 have engine mounts in the middle of engine, early birds have them at the front, meaning you can make a big plate from chassis rail to chassis rail and have mounts off that) and belt the sump around a bit, not to mention bringing the turbro up further so i can dodge the steeringwith the zorst.
he gets payed to make stuff from nothing, so i get him to do my welding, the man has the talent.
bout a second after that photo, he tells me to get fucked and do it myself again...explains the look on his face
least now you can put the ugly face to my name!!!

maybe 20v for a good daily bus.
as for joshs mum...
she was hitting me the other day for selling josh a car that goes fast, while she did that, i was hard....

ohhh carby!

on a less serious note, suspension goodies are meant to go in tomorrow I'm told?

I'll still try and push you in the 4A direction, you know want it.

BUT.. if you're lucky you can have the 4K out of mine once I downgrade to the 4A-GZE... you would be insulting the 4K by saying it's just only a powerhouse, when in real fact it's a bringer of chaos, pain, destruction and deformed babies..

goes round corners faster, feels nicer
+ 3 badass points to lawson for sellin this stuff.
yeh i'll have an adm housing, or you need jdm y0-ness, i can put clutch clave cyl, pivot point and the hole on other side if you want dave, but only cos your good lookin.
need swaybars soon, and...stuff
looks like 20v it will be, my 13b has deserted me to do 11's in someone elses car, sniff.

I envy the suspension goodz.

Antdragonist
4th November 2006, 08:44 PM
you don't envy the f**cken shitbox 4ac, 100 on highway, hit a bump and the waterpump quite literally goes boom, detaches itself somewhat, but not completely from the engine, stuck solid
that was a bit rude, i think, so i take the fan belt off, and drive it another 10km with no water circulation whatsoever.

i am the punisher

it is impossible in all of my searching to find a shock with suitable valving and a short enough pin to keep a 210mm front spring captive, they are only made that height so i dont go to jail if someone crashes

most people who lower ae86 etc will say even in a mildly lowered car bump stops need to be cut, a serated house knife will cut one knob off the stops, should make a good improvement

put new waterpump on there, the old one exploded cos the rollers fell out and jammed between the pump shaft and housing. least now i know...
i get 600 metres up the road, and the fuckin harmonic balancer splits in two, the back pulley becomes un-bonded to the main part, this then chews thru the cam belt cover, bites into the cam belt and makes it jump 3/4 of a turn.
least i have the love of mr lawson to keep me warm at night

still need to do....
gearbox - have w55, waiting on bellhousing, then obviously tailshaft
t18 diff to go in rear, jus need to pick it up and weld up centre.
fuel lines
cooler piping, perhaps a new core, fc cooler front mounted might be a little to small, altho i never had issues with it in my old setup.

Thats cause he has no weight towards the back, this sparoonter is usually filled to the brim with fly ladies and hoes. That, coupled with Ed's super backhand bridge jumping anti-vtec (y0) steering method would no doubt result in a snapped axle.

In other news; "Herrow Rimiter!"

4agze (early bigport version) standard pulleys and therefore boost
old school motec ecu, 2d, still tuneable.
comes with fmic
t50 (doesn't come with jdm bellhousing, will have adm one instead)
eng mounts and g box mounts(can swap for ke xmember if you need)
niteparts w5x to 4a housing
i'm keepin w55 box for the future conversion
plenty of other parts

sucks, i still drive her around (only taken a deposit so far) and already i think i've made a mistake, but then, getting another 4ag ae86 isn't going to be the hardest task about.
had a look at my new setup, doesn't go too bad, bit tired, will plonk her in first, wait till she pops then set about after some more power, realistically, the car doesn't need more than 150rwkw for what i want.
also started looking at the engine mount setup, shouldn't be to hard, if i have to make a sump that'll be a headfuck, aside from that it's lookin pretty cruisy, will be prob a year before it's back on the road, i'm out of action for abuot 4 months thanks to an operation i'll have in two weeks, so that'll piss me off alot
all good tho
will keep updates flowing in as they happen

Nah, will make some practice days, not competitive rounds tho, for no reason other than money, and not wishing to hold up quicker drivers, diff is now locked, loves it, many tandems with daim have been had, so now it'll get sprayed, soon cos fuck its ugly, then just smash some sessions up the hills really, smash may be the key word there. See how long the engine lasts, valve stem seals are pretty much stuffed, but she'll be right. And figure out an issue its having, put some skidders on last night, went for a burn with josh to section of highway well loved by a few of us, delaminated the only tyres i took with me (really bright) but just noticed it is getting harder to break loose. Still has as much as daims bus in terms of power but just struggles to turn them, was pretty much clutch kicking madly to keep it sideways. Hopefully 4 link will fix as i noticed its tramping more, maybe trailing arm bushes are stuffed. Not goin out on track like this tho! Won't even get third goin!

Antdragonist
7th June 2008, 03:30 PM

nah it loves it now, taking a bit to get used to, heaaps of lock now, and a bit more slippery-ness to contend with, pretty stoked tho, hopefully i've got enough to get my cams licence and enter basky at the end of this month!!

Delazy

baskerville at the end of the month is a practice day...which u dnt require ur cams licence to drive at...dnt even need club membership to drive....just rock up, pay ur money and away you go

keen to see this thing in action tho....thought it might have debut'd at symmons, but prolly wise to hold out for baskerville, much more forgiving track, just watch those nasty ripple strips on the inside of turn 1....my car definately didnt like them lol
