time to start a thread on my car.
had it for about 2 years now
purchised with no engine and box, so decided to go with cheapest engine combo i could think of, ca18det.
had the ca18 engine sitting here already just needed a gear box, picked one up with blown motor for $200.
gotta love ca18s cheap as chips.
purchised engine mounts off anthony kallem.
list of mods so far,

ca18det putting 120rwkw on 7psi
microtech lt8
custom 1 peice tailshaft
T18 diff 3.7 centre welded, in search of 4.1
chopped xf falcon springs in rear
koni adjustable rear shocks
chopped king springs in front
stock front struts and brakes (for now)
whitline front strut brace
whiteline front swaybar
half cage
st162 radiator
cheap fixed back buckets

so far i only drive it at the track, it is not registered. would love to get rego. but looking for a place to get a blueslip.
here are a couple of pics so far.

nah, i did all the work myself. dad lives in brisbane, he was just down for my birthday.

the only pointer i got off beau yates was to stay out of his way! he diddnt say it but thats the impression i got. it was my very first day on the track, ever. and he was coming down the streight behind me, i spun, he tried to avoid me and just swiped the wall!
i felt real bad!! haha

it has come along way.

Theres a guy on NS.com at the moment selling S13 gear.. wants $200 for the LCA's.......
what rackends and tierods did you end up going with.......?

steroidchickens
25th November 2006, 02:01 PM
repco sells them brand new for $96 for right hand side, $87 left hand side. they just had to order them.

just the usual bluebird tie rod ends and celica rack ends.

DRFT - 86

Is that for the LCA's.........?
fuck I wish I knew that.... lol

steroidchickens
25th November 2006, 02:08 PM
yep, i found a set of s13 LCAs with stuffed ball joints, and was chasing new ball joints for ages. you can only buy the complete unit.
you can get r32 ball joints seperate for the s14 conversion, but they are different.

the LCAs should be here monday. so i will check if this is correct. i still dont believe they have orded the right parts, $90 is extremely cheap for something in such high demand.

but as soon as i get them i will be putting it all together and taking it to get wheel aligned in hope it will be ready for the hachi meet at wakefield!!

DRFT - 86
25th November 2006, 02:32 PM
fuk... so your saying you have to buy the whole LCA if a ball joint is stuffed... you sure.. you would think that they would be an easy and common part to source.... as one of the LCA's I bought has a fucked balljoint....
let me know how the repco sourced items go as I might sell the ones Ive already got and get new ones if they are so cheap...

steroidchickens
25th November 2006, 02:46 PM
100% you cannot buy the s13 balljoint seperate.
i was on the phone all day trying to work it out!
rang nissan, repco, bursons, autopro, bullseye and pedders.

you can press in a second hand balljoint, you just cannot buy them. very stupid!!

DRFT - 86
25th November 2006, 06:55 PM
thats fucked up.... I wonder if just the rubber boot can be bought, although Ithink its attached to the balljoint itself... as this is all I really need.. fuk, definatly let me know how you go with the LCA's from repco...

Orange hachi
26th November 2006, 02:36 PM

There is no way that those rears are -3. I've seen the Work wheel chart sizes. You're rear would have to be 15x9 -25 as dictated by the chart. You're fronts surely must be the 15x8 -13. How could -3 have so much dish? I've got a pair of 15x10 -25 watanabes and the amount of dish on your rears looks incredibly similar to mine.

Robo86
25th November 2007, 06:43 PM
^^work have a range called "deep rim" or 0DISK. basically allows the wheel to have more lip, dish watever u wanna call it (while retaining smallish :P offsets) making it look like its -30, but does reduce brake caliper clearance :)

that is a -3 with a 25mm spacer in tern making it sit like a -28

works 0disk deep rim range is the best of the best.

Other than that, very awesome looking wheels man. One question, wots the legal width of wheels u can get for the sprinter?

*edit - woops already corrected, by you already. So it is better to drift with the tread in the opposite direction?

im not entirely sure, it cost me 220(usually about 180) one way all up but i booked 2 days before and my 86 is under the 5 metre limit lol

pretty sure if its over 5 metres (caravans/boats/trailers etc) they charge heaps but just give them a ring and suss it out...
