Then I went and bought a manual t18.
I will be doing the coversion soon.
I got the 4ac and auto out of the ae71. Ready to start pulling the 3tc out.
I will get some pics and post them later.

Hay dude sounds lyk u need to do a bit more looking search the net google there r heaps of mad ae71's and ke70's in america, im doing a similar convo but a 3t gte just keep the rack cut the mounts off the t18 crossmember bolt your box up to the engine put it all in at once bolt the box in and position the engine so it dosent interfere wit the rack tack make sure the rack is clear turn lock to lock pull engine out and weld mounts in fully!!!!

hope this helps!!

Mate I have to say go with the 3tc. it's a good motor do u have any plans to go turbo in the future.

Mate I went turbo in my ke70 with the 3t donk and I can tell you it's a nice driving car mate there's alot torque

All I done to mine was put a came in it to make in rev more which cost me $80

And dual race valve springs from performance valve springs in qld

And I went injection on my 3t

The car now rev's to 7'200 rpm and on 10 pound's the car makes 114kw @ the wheels

So what people say about the a boat anchor and the don't rev make the 3t rev is only a cam away.

What I say they are a pretty good boat anchor

And trying to find a 3tc is easy I picked up 4 3t's for $200 that's 50 bucks a motor

There is a lot you can do with the 3t but how much do you want to spend

Well that's my 2c

Thanks jess

JoellaRolla
5th December 2006, 12:51 PM
No Im not going to turbo because I wont be able to drive it after July because in Qld we can not drive turbos or supercharged or V8s after then. I only have a low bugget under $1000 but its always is good to know for later. I was also thinking of going fuel injection has anyone done this and if so could you post pics of new bolt holes in manifold.

Should I fuel inject it or should I change the carby?

Stick with carby mate, I'm pretty sure you'd have to make an injection manifold for the 3t from scratch as I'm reasonably sure only twin cams came efi (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong people)

dam right they slide real good!!! oh and if you want to know you can put a t-18 crossmember in a ke70 so you dont have to use/make different engine mounts and if your really skillfull you caun cut the stearing mount off the crossmember and weld it to the t-18 xmember, have seen it done! on an old site

oh and man that is a mint t-18 that nearly a waist man if your just going to gut it! its in very good condition! but if you wanna save the car and put something like a 3tgte in it!

and just be carful cause you could have ended up with a 13t in it instead of a 3t like i did!

and onother thing you can use 2tgue efi you just have to make an adaptor plate because the post holes are the same but the bold hols are different i have a pic here.... ok well i cant find it so i will show you latter, and yes someone stated earlyer that they produced an efi 3t its just a 3te
[attachment=9885:attachment]

when you get old enough to have a powered vehicle go turbo they are good fun turboed go off there head!

well if someone has answered anything that i have already said oh well i was just going over it again

Fair enough... go through them then.

I have 6.5 and 5 in my car (te72) its brilliant. Does it just nice for the hills, but can slide reasonable as well. Biggest thing is getting decent shocks to match your springs.

I rep kyb excel g short stroke shocks, which are uncannily enough available through AJPS.

Put rears in today. Took like 15 mins. Yeah definetly need new shocks in front, the rears are good though. THe kings arnt to bad. To stiff for speed bumps but not stiff enough for track. Like there hell better then what i had in it and for $180 you cant go wrong.

Yeah but first i got to buy a new windscreen cuz mine is now craked! I think it was started from me jaking one wheel up at a time when put springs in. So that will put me off bying some tyres for the rims...

Bustin_86
2nd May 2007, 04:29 PM
You think that you broke the windscreen by jacking up one wheel at a time?

Pretty unlikely, unless if your car has a huge amount of chassis flex lol!

This is how i jack my car as i cant get my jack onto crossmember. Never had any issues apart from bent sills.

Do the te72s have a slave cylinder? cuz if i replace one, i heard that the new great presure from the new one can split the old slave? Happened to my bros silvia.

Well the last couple days have been intresting...
I started her up the other day (monday) Shes cold, got no choke so takes a bit to get her going, She started then conked went to start her again and nothing...
Started testin stuff, Battery, starter,
Then tested that the engine could turn over, Started manally turning it over and smack dead stop turn back ford again, smack... it turns one way till close to top dead centre then back again till near top dead centre again so does about 360'.
So today pulled Rocket cover off,
valves sitting right. yep,
cheaked the timing chain, fine, didnt jump a tooth
cheaked that nothing was in the cylinders, perfect
spark plugs in tacked,

Singled it out to bottom end, because when was looking at timing belt to where it stopes, i can still rotate the top end so it is the bottom end, not sure yet... Any ideas? <_<

Well pulled off rocket cover... Valve stems are there but cant tell yet if the actual valve seal is there,
Pulled timing chain cover off and cheaked that it didnt jump a tooth,
Pulled off sump all intact (not like my last 4ac....)
So shall be pullin off the head ether tomorow or the next. Will see if there is anything in cylinder one, other than that im stumped...

Sorry some stuff has been repeated.

Cheaked the valves by putting kero on the head, Both of the valves where leaking in cylinder 1... so got a valve compresor and pulled out those to valves one has a bent sharft, the other a bent cap.
There isn't that much carbon build up in there but Is there a way to remove that carbon on a low budget?
